I had noticed that during the first Indonesia leg, and went back and found it had been missing in Taiwan as well.

Mug Costanza, Phil had sent out a Tweet after filming was completed and before the season began to air that there had been a sudden last minute change for some reason that required TPTB to completely change a destination on less than 24 hours' notice. The speculation has been that Thailand was the substitute for the unknown original country, and the timeline reconstruction appears to support that speculation.

maybe brunei or the philapeens or burma

but on the upside with the thai leg from tar 14 is that their was a unaired ff with charirty

So what's with the cluebox at the Hamburg train station? ???
Physics alone is not enough.

It was very scary to see, bet the teams were just as scared

OK, I have a new theory for the final task: they will have to match the clue holders with the outlines of he countries they visited. I believe Germany had a cluebox because when they got their clue to get there, it was a picture with no map unlike the others.
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

So strange!  What an odd thing.  But it is nice TAR is trying new things.

I believe the cluebox "marks a new country" and agree with your theory... I think the outline of the country will come into play.

This... obviously didn't work out as the final leg challenge.

Overthinking by us.. but hey, we gave the producers a good idea for final leg tasks!

Pity though! It would be amazing if they had to match the shape of the country with the "cluebox" or "clueholder". Much more difficult!

 So either WRP were reading this thread and thinking 'Oh yeah...' or they were trying to deliberately mislead the racers! It can be all too easy sometimes to predict what the final challenge will be, and this is the only time I've been convinced it's something that it wasn't.

I'll have to go with deliberately misleading the racers because the race was long over by the time we saw the episodes and started brainstorming about the various clue boxes and the country outlines on the clues. I was completely fooled as well. I thought the final challenge would surely involve the clue boxes though I probably should have rethought that when the old traditional clue box started to make a few appearances.

Literally the only thing that left me with a shred of doubt about the final task was the confirmation from our Taiwan spotter that he saw production testing a cluebox in place of the drum/pouch man at the Dragon Boat task. Other than that, I was completely convinced.

The country outlines are still right, though, just not necessarily in the way we expected.

Now we know where they get their idea from if we got a cluebox challenge in future. :cmaslol

So, it seems that Clue-Boxes had nothing to do for the Final Task, but country shapes did! The map thing can be easier if teams took all that into account!

This is what I was hoping for, and it would've been the most difficult challenge since that TAR12 one!

The route map memory challenge was pretty aweful for my taste. Only the TAR16 Memory CHallenge was more boring, in my opinion. Even though I LOVE memory challenges, if they aren't going to come up with inventive and difficult memory challenges, I'd prefer no memory challenges at all. The TAR15 poker chips and the TAR18 mobile home was more interesting than this TAR19 route map, in my opinion.
I'd rather walk alone than let them throw dirty confetti. ♥

heee,I asked some of the racers what they would have thought of a match the clue box to the country challenge...they thought it would be awesome and that they would have been SCREWED!!

It would've been so much fun to see, and the finale might've been really close! I'm usually very good with memory challenges and memory games, but my memory of the clueboxes isn't very good at all! :cmaslol

They should just do a TAR12/14 final task each season. They are hard and there's the possibility to make variations so that they could be different each time.

YAY! TAR 12 finale task was the most awesome one ever, along with TAR9 (I wouldn't have included that many hints) and TAR14.

I think I'm in the minority of people who liked the TAR16 task, but mostly because they had to lug the chest through the streets of San Francisco. :hearts:
"I defy you to come up with a better name than Seven!"

I definitely agree with this comment! Those tasks were really difficult, and it allowed teams to catch up (even though I would've been much, much happier if Christina and Luke had maintained their leads). :cmas16

Another great one I have to mention is the TAR17 task - it was so unexpected and absolutely perfect! Obviously they won't re-use that anytime soon, but in many years time, they might be able to create a similar (although slightly different) type of challenge? :cmas5

OMG. They need to do a field of disguised people, and find the correct one represeting the greeters. The people would not have exactly the same height/shape so that it could be a bit more difficult.
