This is going to take our GE masters I think.

I've been looking at Google Earth this evening as well and I'm stumped. But I'm not a Google Earth Master, :future
merely an apprentice. Like you say, the beach and ghats are nearly indistinguishable. There are a LOT of photos and panorama shots which are real helpful. There's so many that I can't look at all of them. The whole central portion of Varanasi along the Ganges River looks like it's lined with ghats and stairs going down to the water. I can't find an area with open beach like the screen cap suggests unless you're on the north or south end of Varanasi. My gut feeling is it's probably south of the Godowlia Chowk area about a mile or two in the south end of Varnasi. I can't find the temple in screen cap 1 either and that seems like it should be possible to identify. Even if I do find it, it's not clear that temple is where Jen/Kisha are plastering dung on the wall.

I can't find that temple either...

You can see a few people walking on the "beach." There's a square something near the water, and something--a small building, or some more water--closer to the hillside.

If we assume its later in the day (which is a pretty big assumption) with the sun setting, the dung task should be on the east side of the Ganges. The beach area around the Ram Nagar fort and the pontoon bridge look likely.
And the fort would make a good pitstop....

It would indeed.

Slowhatch sent this along!! :hearts:
--- Quote ---consider Ravidas Mandir, up north by the bridge, for the temple cap.

I looked at a LONG list of temples yesterday, but I only found this for Ravidas Madir:
Is this even the same place ???
