I never thought of RIO as "Race Is Over", but possible! Though, we only have 4 continents as for the moment. :o

I have to admit that I do not understand why if teams were spotted going to Zurich Tuesday, they wouldn't after one more leg in Switzerland have been on their way to wherever at least one day before today. However, after 5 years of working with her on RFF, I trust Peach totally and know that her Rio inclination is based on special knowledge. So, she emailed me from advance TARCON XVII activities and asked me to provide some flight information from Zurich to Rio. Not only will I do that, but i will also take you back to the U.S. East Coast from Rio.

There are 4 possibilities that started about 45 minutes ago:

LX656  ZRH CDG 1640 1755 connecting with JJ8055 CDG GIG 2000 0455+1
AF5107  ZRH CDG 1750 1915 connecting with AAF442 CDG GIG 2320 0735+1
TP927  ZRH LIS 1905 2055 connecting with TP185 LIS GIG 2330 0730+1
LX92  ZRH GRU 2240 to 0745+1. From GRU to GIG takes 1 hour with min. one flight every hour

Once teams need to get back to the U.S., say on Monday, here are the nonstop possibilities to the East Coast (I was surprised to find a nonstop to Houston but have ignored anything west of Atlanta):

GIG MIA JJ8084   0743  1550
               CO8531 2158 0345+1
               AA904    2226 0426+1

GIG ATL DL060  2224 0530+1

GIG CLT DL801 2250 0600+1

GIG IAD JJ8282  2350 0624+1

GIG JFK AA236   2330 0640+1

There are no nonstop flights to Orlando, to Boston or to Philadelphia. Dr. Rox, Continental does fly from GIG to EWR some days of the week, but not on crucial Mondays so I did not include it on the above list.

Is that :colealert: ? Because the race was supposed to be over today.

That depends doesn't it? If you want to believe other sites, then feel free. If you want to believe RFF...then no. The race is NOT over today. Watch Rio de Janierio.

Someone posted this over at sucks:

It is fake:

"Hey guys my first post I think it will help!

I was in Monrovia for the last 3 weeks just got home and I saw teams running in downtown Monrovia. (unfortunatley I had no camera).
I for sure so Luke and Margie and Kisha and Jen, I believe they were working together (?) maybe as part of an intersection."

Monrovia is the capital of Liberia, West Africa.

It's is a fake, if the guy watched S14, he would know that Margie/Luke, Kisha/Jen will NEVER work together.

Kisha/Jen probably U-turned Margie/Luke in one of the legs....

I don't think it is true either. Africa that late in the race doesn't make sense, especially since the Rio info is out there now.

As for the quote above.... NEVER is a pretty strong word. I think that most athletes would agree that what happens on the field stays on the field... Jenn and Keisha are athletes, and I don't think that they hold a grudge. It was a race for a Million bucks. If I was a racer I would like to see one of my season-mates win S18... Plus, from all the facebook posts and pics you can clearly see that the cast of S14 gets along pretty well and would probably work together over working with teams from a different season...

Kacper,
You are entitled to your opinion, but recent Amazing Races have been running only about 21 days. Just go back and examine the record of past races in RFF. Anyway, the race is not finishing today. it is only arriving in Rio today. It cannot finish before tomorrow because they could have run a leg in Rio this morning but would still need a pit stop before boarding an evening flight tonight Rio time, which would be 22 days.

Peach has clarified that she meant landing in Brazil today, not departing Switzerland today. That means that all of the possible flights landed several hours ago. Rio is currently on Daylight Savings time at UTC-2, which puts them 3 hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast this time of year. The last of the flights would have landed by 10am Rio time or 7am this morning.

Anyway, since this creates the possibility that teams could be leaving Rio tomorrow, it was prudent to take another look at the flights from Rio to East Coast cities. Here it is:

Miami
drop JJ8054 because it does not fly Sundays. That leaves:
CO 8531 2158 0345+1
AA904 2226 0426+1

ATL
DL060 2224 0530+1

CLT
DL801 2250 0600+1

IAD
UA 810 (with multiple codeshares) 2350 0624+1

NYC
gain a new flight on Sunday JJ8178 2305 0615+1
AA236 2330 0640+1

If it was Sao Paulo I'd be scouring the city trying to find them (or at least trying to spot the clue boxes), can't help with Rio though.

I really doubt Rio, because recently on the news theres been rise in gang violence in the outer parts of the city.  They could connect through Rio to Manaus, Brasilia, Belem, or the Guianas.

This has to be the funniest article I've read all week (non-sports). Maybe they'll bluff the audience and show clips of Ken/Gerard & Jon/Al again!

Too bad TAR18 isn't ending tomorrow. It would have been a true surprise if they had NYC as the end city and then have Phil, along with the AR 18 cast show up at the AR17 Finale Party.

Though I should ask, could the race even end tomorrow (not necessarily NYC) or is there still a lot of stuff left?  Personally lost track of everything, even upon checking the normal posts!

I wouldn't call it a fake, just wrong. I found this yesterday when I was searching blogs. The funny thing was that I also found another site that grabbed this story and posted it as it's own!  :cmas18
