Fantasia Barrino Is The New American Idol !!

One thing that I noticed from last night was that they didn't give a percentage of how much of the vote that each of those two got like they have in seasons past.  It makes me think that the vote might not have even been close.

I am disappointed but not surprised.  Apparently Fantasia has a large fan base even if I am not one of them.  She is very talented.  Just not my cup of tea.

I do know, however, that if Fantasia were here, she would vote for Refaforu. ;D

Papa, I thought I heard Ryan S say that there was 65 million votes and the difference in voting between Diana and Fantasia was less than 1 percent. Of course, that would be about 6.5 million votes but 1 percent is not a big difference.

Viewers cast a record 65 million votes by telephone and text messaging for this year's finale, up from 24 million votes, Fox spokesman Scott Grogin said.


Barrino, 19, of High Point, North Carolina, received about 1.3 million votes more than DeGarmo, 16, of Snellville, Georgia, Grogin said. The winner gets a recording contract with BMG, the music unit of Bertelsmann AG, Fox said in a statement.

Actually, 1% of 65 million is 650,000.
