TAR All-Stars 2 Wish List

<< < (6/11) > >>

Kiwi Jay:
It is getting suspicious because of no auditions for Season 18, was this kinda how things went after TAR10 for 11 casting process?

Paron:
I really don't think anyone ousted before F6 should be considered an "All-Star," so I'd cut Zev & Justin and Jordan & Jeff out of any possibility.

No.  TAR11 actually did have auditions.  But all chosen teams were dropped when they decided to do an All-Star season.

Exactly, here's my 12 teams for a Post-ARAS (After Season 11):
- Kynt and Vyxsin
- Ronald and Christina
- Nathan and Jennifer (are they still together)
- Nick and Starr (if Nathan and Jennifer aren't together only)
- Ken and Tina
- Toni and Dallas
- Jamie and Cara
- Margie and Luke
- Kisha and Jen
- Meghan and Cheyne
- Flight Time and Big Easy
- Jet and Cord
- Carol and Brandy

But I stand by loving NEW teams of ordinary people...not recruited, just wonderful applicants. There are thousands of them, we know it is possible. Look at the joy of season one.

I really wouldn't call Brad & Victoria or Zev and Justin robbed as their own errors caused their eliminations.

But one of the pluses for a Season of Early outs is that in many cases we never really got to see a lot of these teams.  The problem with this is (besides of course events outside your own control) it's really difficult to judge how well teams that went out early actually race.  As most of the racers who had completed or nearly completed the race will attest that the further along you get the harder the race is as you are suffering from fatigue, hunger, more stress, etc.

I believe there will be another all stars to feed the hunger of all diehard fans? Survivor couldn't resist and did many allstars or half or part allstars season. I know the prouducers of TAR said Allstars was a bad idea.. but i think if they are to do it again, there will be much more careful planning and selection of teams.

And oh i forgot all about Kynt and Vyxsin.. definitely a memorable team. And it would be good to get some of the family edition teams to race as a team of two. Mama Paolo and Papa Paolo will be fun to watch, i believe.. except that they probably will have no chance of winning if they are up against the all-stars.

Hence my stand is that the teams chosen have to be BOTH MEMORABLE and COMPETITIVE. Very competitive in fact. The reason why the first allstar wasn't even that exciting because some of the teams chosen were not even competitive at all. (Teri and Ian, Charla and Mirna wants to be.. but they're not, Danielle, Mary and David, Kevin and Drew..)

And up till now only a few teams fit the criteria and i agree with mswood, you need to have token alpha male teams in the race, but only TWO.

"The reason why the first allstar wasn't even that exciting because some of the teams chosen were not even competitive at all. " - Joab, you have hit it out of the park here. I remember Phil Keoghan talking about the All-Stars teams before the broadcast season for AR11, and maybe even before the actual race was run, that they were chosen as a sort of popularity contest. He did not say it, but it was obvious that alpha males past winners had been excluded. Popular teams like John Vito and Jill(out 1st), Kevin and Drew (out 2nd) and David and Mary (out 3rd) took precedence over high performing teams. So why would anyone believe that it would be different for an All-Stars 2 Amazing Race?
