'The Amazing Race: China Rush' prepares for launch this weekend across Chinese screens
The Screening of the 12-episode reality show-Hamilton‘The Amazing Race:China Rush'was held at the Shanghai Hilton Hotel. Xu Hao, the Assistant President of SMG, and the representatives from the International Channel Shanghai (ICS) participated in this event. Meanwhile, about 30 reporters from the media groups in Shanghai enjoyed the first episode of‘China Rush'at the same event.
Following the great success of the previous 12-episode reality show'Shanghai Rush'in 2009, the International Channel Shanghai (ICS) reveals Hamilton‘The Amazing Race:China Rush', another large-scale production which seizes the perfect time of Shanghai World Expo. Different from‘Shanghai Rush',‘China Rush'imported the program format of‘The Amazing Race', the seven-time Emmy Award Winner for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program produced by Disney ABC. Extending the lens to Shanghai and 10 other towns,‘China Rush'unleashed a combination of different exotic cultures and traces of history, while showing an authentic Chinese version of‘The Amazing Race'to the audience.
"SMG maintains good cooperation with international media groups.‘China Rush’is another local produced TV program which enjoyed the fruits of success in attracting overseas market through its adaptation of classical program format from overseas with the mixture of local resources and Chinese elements,"Xu Hao, the Assistant President of SMG said.
The 20 chosen contestants are from different parts of the globe, including Australia, Kenya, India, Mexico, Latvia, the United States, England and Canada. Though some of them had never been to China before, they are of great interest in the country.
The contestants form 10 teams and start off from the Shanghai Expo Park, traveled across Ningbo, Wuxi, Changzhou, Yangzhou, Beijing, Taian, Qingdao, Chengdu, Tengchong and Zhaoqing, then finally back to Shanghai. During the journey, contestants have to deal with language barriers, cultural differences and unfamiliar surroundings; withstand extreme physical and mental
challenges including rappelling down a waterfall, canyon rafting and climbing up the dam. After multiple rounds of elimination, the final surviving team will receive the grand prize-a World Tour provided by Travelzen.com.
Hamilton, an international well-known brand from the Swatch Group, is the title sponsor of this season of‘China Rush'. It also provides the one and only official timer for The Race.
‘The Amazing Race:China Rush'will premiere 8 August on International Channel Shanghai (ICS). It will be aired for 12 consecutive weeks on every Sunday at 8pm.
The show will also be globally broadcasted on CCTV News starting from 14 August, on every Saturday at 11:15pm. The Race is expected to attract more audience and become the greatest highlight on screen in 2010, the year of Shanghai World Expo.
