Well I have finally watched the episode, and really the only questionable answer is concerning what position Mike & Louie are in when they get to the speedbump.  I will state from the get go I picked 4th.

As the teams are approaching both clueboxes, the last shot we see is off Louie in the lead followed by Dan, then Jordan then Michael.

We then see Louie get the clue.

Moments afterwards we see Dan & Jordan get the Roadblock clue, now at that point Dan & Jordan are in 3rd.  But that isn't the question.  The question is what place are Louie & Mike when they get the Speedbump clue.  And unlike getting to the Pit Stop (where both people must be on the matt for an official check in), clues are given credit by just who the first racer of the group is when they get the clue.

As it is I think I have to give it to Louie & Mike (and I don't want to , I need the points).

Please feel free to twist my arm on this one.

Oh.... I'll be happy to twist your arm here. Louie gets to the cluebox before Dan and Jordan do, thus making them in 3rd place when they get to the speed bump.

Or in other words, they are in third when they get to the speedbump.

Mike and Louie PASSED the Bros in their run to the Speed Bump as they saw their extra task there. They then knew they hd to make up a great loss of time, and thus beat them. The task the Detectives have to complete then is the Speed Bump, and thus, they ARE in 3rd once they hit their Speed Bump.

I think they can't be 4th, no matter how you see it.

But just after that you have a screen title saying that Dan and Jordan are in THIRD place, so that indicates that the cops are now in FOURTH.  So did they lose the position by just doing nothing?   And after Phil does all the intro to the Speed Bump, the editing cuts back to the brothers reading their Roadblock clue and are labled to be in Third.  So it is just a matter of how the editing is going on.  Obviously they did not show what was going on simultaneously by both teams, so for all we know Dan and Jordan actually opened their clue first.  And as someone pointed out above, the Speed Bump is an extra task not part of the main stream of action so the team doing a Speed Bump is not actually part of the main stream and has no actual place in the race.  And since Dan and Jordan are now Third, that means the Cops are Fourth.  It is a confusing situation so I think that to be fair to all both Third and Fourth are correct answers.

Yes, they did because, the extra task causes them to be behind due to the other teams not needing to do that task. Meaning, by doing nothing they are passed. So, because of the speedbump, they are in fourth, but if they didn't have to do the speedbump (at least there), they would be in 3rd place.

The game question:
Quote
What position are Michael & Louie when they get their speedbump clue?

The pertinent rule:
Quote
9.  All answers will be decided by the aired footage in the episode, not the clips

In the "aired footage" we see Mike & Louie get and open their Speed Bump clue before we see Dan & Jordan open their Roadblock clue.  This would put Mike and Louie in third place at that exact moment.

As soon as Dan & Jordan get and open their Roadblock clue, which probably happened mere seconds later, of course, Mike & Louie fall to fourth place.

I, in fact answered this question, "4" but if we go strictly by the "aired footage" rule, I think the correct answer is "3."  (Dang those pesky rules!)

G-Man

As much as I really want to say fourth let me lay it down for you.

Louie (at least) is ahead of Dan & Jordan.  Louie (his team) gets to the next stage of the race in third. That would be the next route marker.  Of course it is very short-lived as in about 2 seconds Dan & Jordan pass them as that marker is not one they have to complete.  And when they touch the roadblock clue, they then jump into 3rd.

Well, we'll leave this to mswood... technically they were in third when they arrived at the speed bump...

I feel that the speed bump in an independant track (Bad analogy incoming!) like the "Alternate 1985" featured in Back to the Future 2. While Mike and Louie were completing the Speed Bump, they were not on the standard race course, and I feel that they cannot be credited with a placing while on this alternate course.

The whole point is moot for one of the questions, because they were credited with 3rd on Garden Bridge. But I think in the Speed Bump arrival case it comes down to who is shown opening their clue first.

So wait, is it one of those things that destroy the universe?
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

Cops are third, however they have to complete the Speed Bump. BEFORE getting to the Speed Bump, the cops are in third, (that is the question we needed to answer), and the bros are in last. Then, the bros pass them because they do not need to complete the Speed Bump. I think it should be counted as they are in 3rd and not 4th, but this leads to disagreement.
