mswood, I believe the pronunciation was actually sow-oo-na, which I think either Gary or Matt referred to as Finnish. I am going to suggest that since the Estonian language is close to Finnish the pronuciation of each vowel as a single syllable is the way they do it too.

It's actually the way "sauna" is pronounced in almost any European language other than English

I can't believe it happened: I have lost near all-interest in this season. I'm just reading forums/recaps + watching the greatness of Seasons 1 to 5 to satisfy my craving. Please help me get it back. :P

cdfe88, since puddin is obviously wrong about who cares, I will add a little extra personal knowledge to the situation. I sing in French (and am also reasonably fluent in speaking it), German, Italian and Russian from time to time (all 4 for a concert in 5 weeks). None of those languages except Russian meets your statement about how other European languages pronounce vowels.
