Amazing Race Season 15 ratings
« on: September 28, 2009, 10:51:55 AM »
THR is reporting that TAR averaged 9.2 million and a 3.2 in adults 18-49.  Will get more information within about an hour.

This is how Season 13 started
10.29 million viewers 3.2 adults 18-49

Season 14 (Spring were you expect a decline in ratings)
9.285 million viewers 2.7 in adults 18-49

Just a note Viewer totals really are almost meaningless.  The only thing the networks care about is how much money a show generates and that depends primarily on the 18-49 demo for CBS the 25-54 are also important).

So its nice to see us hold steady in that area from last season.

CBS was helped by the NFL lead-in plus NBC's Sunday Night Football game was a blowout.

The sad thing is across the board (except for some of Fox's comedies) shows were down, and in some cases (ABC for example) were down dramatically.

Based on this I would expect our episodes to look something like this.

Ep #1  10.3 million viewers and a 3.4 adult 18-49

Ep #2 9.9 million viewers and a 3.0 in adults 18-49.

If my guess is correct that actually is really pretty damn good for the show.

You had Sunday Night Football plus the Desperate Housewives premiere. Very respectable numbers opposite NBC and ABC last night. CBS will definitely take those.

Yeah, I do worry about next week.

Not about Tar, but about how the whole lineup might effect TAR.

Three Rivers is one of the shows that analysts thought would be one of the first cancellations of the season (well thinks to the CW it wont be the first).

But with nothing seems to generate any real traction with the adult 18-49 (besides TAR) and that does help drag our numbers down.

The good thing, though is that we will look very good compared to the rest of the Sunday lineup.

Cold Case still does well, so that's still a good 9 p.m. anchor. But I don't know why CBS canceled Without a Trace.

Cold Case is dead.  It's this year's sacrificial lamb at 10pm.

THree Rivers is airing at 9pm.

I actually understand it, cast and crew were expensive.  A new show could get a bit lower on the ratings and still (thanks to being cheaper) make the same amount.

Of course they hope new shows do make more, but they understand that tv is about a 60-70% failure rate for new programming.

I'm positive about the ratings. As long as we keep getting TAR, i'm not complaining!

Still looking forward to the day TAR beats Survivor in ratings!

Survivor bleeds viewers each season, while TAR's viewership is mostly steady. I estimate it may take no more than 2 seasons.

It helped that NBC's SNF game was a dud and a blowout early.

Next week, Fox has the doubleheader so Amazing Race will start on time.

It was our best September start (season 12 started in November) since the Family Edition season 8.

Oh...I am thrilled at the ratings BUT....I don't want whatever jerk thought that up patting himself on the back.
