This is fine Gman but if I see one more wish list for contestants or locations they will be deleted. Every time someone starts a TAR15 topic AGAIN we get another wish list when there is a topic especially for that in the discussion board.

This is just me speculating - but if I were producing the show I think I would sequester all of the teams and crew for a week before starting the race because of the h1n1 virus.
At least that way you could be sure that all of the teams are virus free at the beginning of the race. Maybe you could even have a doctor travel with the teams to certify to local authorities that everyone remains free of symptoms and help avoid the risk of being quarantined somewhere.

So if the information that all the teams are at the starting point now is valid - maybe they are being monitored for symptoms before the race actually starts.
From there to here, and here to there,
funny things are everywhere

Teams are sequestered before the race start anyway. (Last season from the Sunday prior until the Friday...)

I don't think they have left yet. But very possible within the next few days, Fridays have been popular start days!!

And I'm flying on Friday... :yess:

Historically summer courses tend to stay within the Northern Hemisphere (TAR 12, TAR 8, TAR 6, TAR 3, TAR 10 to a lesser extent), so I would rule out Oceania (possibly) and Latin America (definitely, especially with H1N1). If we went to Africa, I'd bet on another leg in West Africa (or maybe Ethiopia again).

Premiere dates coming at 12 noon, PT

Do you mean the date they start airing the show, or the date they start racing?

Well, I have some good news I think.

I will be flying to Hawaii to Visit my Dad on July 8th. I'll be having a 3 Hour layover in LA, If there was no reported Teams of the race being started yet, I'll be asking the Security Guards if Teams with Camera Crews following them. So Hopefully that will help! ;D

There is probably going to be at least 1 leg in Africa (sorry if this was said before) and 1 leg in Central Asia because these are the countries that are mainly swine flu free. (I've recently done a project on Swine Flue.)

That's what I'm thinking too. Very important to stay away from countries with swine flu. I hope your project went well.

This is an interesting piece of information which is in the application requirements for TAR15,

Quote  "Teams chosen to participate will be flown from their local airports to unknown destinations somewhere in the world. "

So this could mean that teams for TAR15 are sent individually to a start point outside of the good ole USofA.

At this stage of the game, if I were TPTB I would probably do it for TAR15 just to keep prying eyes like ours away from the staging area.

And it may mean that the race is underway and we just haven't had a clue as to where it started. (:;)

Food for thought :duno:

......but season 14 the contestants were sitting around LAX for hours borrowing laptops and what not and we did not have 1 report/sighting Gman. And I don't think TPTB have enough $$ to send teams outside the USA to start I still think we are looking at the LA area. Just my opinion .......

GMAN,

I think you are reading that literally and it isn't meant to be taken that way. Of course they will go to unknown destinations somewhere in the world. That does not equate to going directly with no U.S. starting point. It is possible that the race will start somewhere else in North America, but the probability of that is not high in my opinion.

an example of past applications with a quick google search, TAR12

Quote
The Teams chosen from this group will be flown from their local airports to an unknown destination somewhere in the world, and must be willing to travel to numerous locations around the world lasting approximately 30-40 days starting sometime in or around June – August of 2007.

So I guess they just meant the starting line would be in an unknown place. Even thought it isn't, really.
