It could have been a lot worse.  I'm not disappointed.

Two years ago when we aired against the Oscars we did
TAR  8.17 million   2.9

So for two years ago, thats not that big of a drop.

Academy Awards telecast improves a bit on last year

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009

Preliminary numbers from Sunday's Academy Awards telecast show that ratings have ticked up a little from last year's historic low, while FOX had some success with NASCAR counter-programming.

ABC averaged a 16.9 rating/26 share in primetime, which is up about 9 percent from last year's fast national number of 15.5/24 (more accurate ratings will be available later in the day). FOX took second for the night at 5.7/9. CBS, 4.6/7, came in third, followed by NBC, 3.3/5, and The CW, 0.9/1.

ABC's adults 18-49 rating also improved over Oscar night last year -- the network scored a 9.5 Sunday, up over 8.4 in 2008. FOX grabbed second in the demographic with a 3.5. CBS, 1.8, edged NBC, 1.6, for third. The CW drew a 0.4.

The annual Barbara Walters Academy Awards special scored a 10.2/16 for ABC at 7 p.m. FOX's coverage of the NASCAR Autoclub 500 and CBS' "60 Minutes" each drew a 5.8/9, with FOX capturing more total viewers. "Dateline" earned a 2.9/5 for NBC. The CW went with "Jericho."

The Oscar red-carpet show, 17.1/26, and the start of the Academy Awards, 21.6/32, dominated at 8 p.m. for ABC. The NASCAR race on FOX delivered a 5.5/8, beating the 4.5/7 for "The Amazing Race" on CBS. "Dateline NBC" improved slightly to 3.1/5, while The CW aired the movie "Tomorrow Never Dies."

ABC scored a 19.6/29 at 9 p.m. as the Oscars continued. FOX's racing coverage finished with a 5.7/8. A "Cold Case" rerun, 4.4/7, kept CBS in third. "Most Outrageous Moments" took fourth for NBC. "Tomorrow Never Dies" concluded with a 1.1/2.

At 10 p.m., the Oscars posted an 18.5/30 (the telecast ran until a few minutes before midnight). "Most Outrageous Moments" earned a 4.2/7 for NBC, beating the 3.6/6 for "The Unit" on CBS.

A 4.5/7 is decent and it shows that TAR has a loyal audience. Those numbers will go up next week.

To tell you the truth, i expected somewhere between 7.8mil to 8mil, and i don't know why. Maybe i have psychic powers or what. :funny:
