What is karst please? ???

DrRox:
Karst topography is a type of surface profile that results from the weathering and dissolution soluble minerals. Usually it means limestons and dolomites. Do a google seach for karst topography and you get a lot of links and pictures. Those islands in Thailand where The Man with the Golden Gun was filmed are karst. There are areas in China that are famous for the karst. You end up with a bunch of isolated rock outcrops......sort of like christmas trees.....lots of pointed little mountains/hills

apskip:
Peach, what Dr. Rox has said is true, but you may want a more basic explanation (and then again maybe not but you are about to get one). In the Guilin area karst is limestone formations where the enough limestone has dissolved by weathering/erpsion  over many centuries to create the weird shapes (some phallic like the Iao Valley Needle on Maui; maybe we will see that in the finale although I hope they go with better sights).
