--- Quote from: Chateau d If on November 05, 2008, 11:31:43 PM ---I'd like to make the following really wacky prediction:   :neener:

The race starts in San Francisco on October 31st!

The teams are sent off with these flights:

Five teams on:
UA 88 leaving SFO at 1:03 pm, arriving EWR Newark at 9:33 pm
Swiss LX 19 leaving EWR at 10:50 pm, arriving in Zurich at 11:35 am

Seven teams on:
UA 900 leaving SFO at 1:48 pm and arriving in FRA Frankfurt at 8:45 am
SWU 1071 leaving FRA at 10:15 am and arriving in Zurich at 11:20 am

--- End quote ---

Chateau, A sage observer said yesterday that "3) UA 900 from SFO San Francisco, arriving at 8:45 am" and departing 1:48pm was one of the alternatives. Using the reasonable criteria of 1pm to 3pm departure (you window is too wide to fit historical evidence, Neobie), this was the only one of your possibilities that within 2 hours of that window. Why has that been abandoned for a later flight outide the departure widnow and also outside the arrival window? Also, what happened to the "must be in Frankfurt 8:00am to 9:15am" criteria? Why has that been abandoned?

You haven't convinced me that the correct flight wasn't UA900.

Neobie:
Oh well. Using 12.30pm to 3pm departures narrows it down...

Chateau d If:
Wow!  that's a lot of work Neobie.  I thought I had over worked it!

I ruled out Seattle and LA early on due to the way Matty was able to walk right into a den of racers (7 teams?, probably not, but that is not too important) waiting for the flight to Zurich.  Matty's flight landed quite early and I figured he stumbled upon the entrenched racers shortly after 9:00 am.

I had noted the SFO to BOS to ZRH route also. Nevermind.  I was looking at flights using the wrong date.  Boston doesn't work afterall.  I think that it is as equally likely as SFO to EWR to ZRH.  The flight data I have for that route differs from yours

UA 824 leaving SFO at 1:10 pm, arriving in BOS at 9:42 pm
LX 53 leaving BOS at 10:50 pm, arriving in ZRH at 11:10 am

The one question I have is how will they make it look like the Teams need to go to two separate checkin counters at SFO?  Maybe they go to a code share counter?

I would love if they go to Egypt! They haven't been there since TAR5!

Actually this will be the first race that started in Europe in a really long time. How does the continent pattern usually go? Would it be Europe --> Africa --> Asia --> South America --> USA?
