An interesting article:

Party thrown for "Hell's Kitchen" contestant

People gathered at a viewing party Thursday night for one of the contestants on Season Five of "Hell's Kitchen."

The party took place at the Harbor Beach Marriott and workers wore "Team Paula" shirts to support their favorite chef, Paula DaSilva. "Just happy that I didn't get Gordon's lashing tonight. I kind of stayed under the radar. I just did my own thing and I stayed away from all his fire. So, I'm just lucky and just happy about that," said DaSilva, who survived the first round.

DaSilva's squash soup, which was made on the reality show, was served at the party.

Stay tuned to Channel Seven every Thursday at 9 p.m. to see if she wins "Hell's Kitchen."

After thinking about this all day, my personal comments after watching the premier of Season 5:

First, they start out with: "After a good night's sleep...."  Think about it folks.  These people have been flown to LA from all over the country, messing up w/internal clocks because of time zone changes, etc. and not to mention what I am sure is an overwhelming amount of excitement and/or fear of what's about to take place.... do you REALLY think they slept? Get real!  It should have been: "After a sleepless, fitful night of tossing & turning, the contestents were awaken at the butt crack of dawn to begin their torture."

Remember that the Blue Team didn't "loose" because of anything that happened in the kitchen; they lost because of Giovanni's inability to work front of the house professionally.  Then, when the team asked him afterward what happened, he just told them to F up, refusing to admit that he did anything wrong.  Why didn't the team nominate him? Think about the logistics here.  The people in the kitchen are up to their eyeballs in work & don't have the time (or ability) to see what's happening  out in service.  They find out at the end of service that they lost because of  what was happening at the front of the house (or in this case, not happening).  Later, when the person responsible for it (Giovanni) is asked what happend, he shuts them out, instead of admitting he messed up. Since Giovanni wasn't being honest w/his team, they probably didn't even know how bad it really was until they watched the show.

I give Wil credit for admiting that he messed up.  He knew it and was willing to put his position on the line.  I didn't see anyone else say "Yeah, I screwed up royally, too!" Being from Chicago, however, he should know that you throw somebody else under the bus & then make it look like an accident.  But I guess he didn't want to play by those rules. (Maybe he thought Illinois had enough bad guys in politics, they didn't need another one.)

Then when the actual elimination happened, who do you expect them to kick off?  The one guy that the team sort of rallies around, or the yahoo that they want to get rid of?  Of course they're going to keep the guy that the team has already come to hate!  It makes for better TV!  Remember, the whole point of the show is it's a GAME, not a true reality show.

Of course you know the producers knew what was going on & being said off stage with all the cameras & mikes plastered everywhere. Did anyone else notice the earpiece in Ramsay's ear? I don't think it was a hearing aide, so I'm guessing it's his direct link to the "all seeing" producers, monitoring everything.  They knew who was going to be nominated & I'll bet that they are little voices he hears through that earpiece. They had already decided Wil should get the boot because Seth was ticking people off, and that makes for more 'drama'. Wil was getting some support from his team (although they probably thought he was from Planet Coo-coo for nominating himself.)

Then Ramsay's parting shot at Wil about not having the will to fight (He really needs to get a better set of writers.)  How can Wil fight when you're not giving him the chance, but rather booting him off?

Remember people it's a game show.  I'm sure that there is SO much going on that we don't see on the show.....  They get to cut & edit and they only show the stuff that they want us to see, the 'juicy' stuff that makes you want more!

So, Good bye Wil & good luck ...Remember, someone always has to be first.  Unfortunately, this season  it was you. There will be 14 more joining you.....Let's see where we go from here.  Who will be Ramsay's next victim? Hummmm? Collen? Ji? Ben? Robert? or the "black listed" Seth?

Hell’s Kitchen Premiere in Hell’s Kitchen!
Last night was the Season Five Premiere of Hell’s Kitchen and the two Tri-State area contestants, Chef Ji Cha (a Manhattan-native and current New Jersey resident) and Chef Seth Levine (a Great Neck, NY native), threw their NYC-based viewing parties in style, in of course, none other than Hell’s Kitchen.

We started out at Chef Ji Cha’s event held at Mercury Bar, complete with drink & food specials (in true chef taste) and multiple big-screens boasting the dramatic season opener.  As a little girl, Ji grew up above her father’s restaurant on 57th Street, so both cooking and Hell’s Kitchen were two things that were never too far out of her reach.

Ji, one of this year’s 16 contestants, schooled all of her colleagues in round one where they were asked to prepare their “signature dish.”  Head Chef, Chef Gordon Ramsay, known for his strict reign in the kitchen, actually went as far as to say that he “loved” Ji’s signature dish (unlike many of the others which he wouldn’t even give the dignity of swallowing!).

The premier was great, couldn't really hear...party was loud! I saw it again. That Lacey girl is annoying the hell out of me, get her out of there!!!
So sorry to see Wil go, of all the people... I would have liked to see Giovanni, Carol or Lacey leave. Come on Giovanni...what is polenta? Did you catch the DUH pill that night?
Carol doesn't seem to have the experience. And we all know what Lacey is...whine, whine, whine. Boo hoo, get a clue!!!

Welcome to RFF Lovingreality. He can't reveal anything about what happened on the show so he wouldn't be throwing a winner's party but it is darned interesting that he has these celebrities at his premiere party.

Looks like Mr. Levine may, either, be a private chef to the stars or that his sister, a designer, Alicia Levine (I think), is a designer to some stars like Sophia Bush (who was mentioned promenantly in many articles on the party).

I do not think that this corralates in all to his standing on the show. He is fodder for Gordon's insults and out downs. I believe he will be shown the door before the middle part of the season.

Yes, two firsts tonight, a complete dinner service on the 2nd night by both teams which is absolutely amazing and keeping her jacket.

Congratulations to Ji, I think she had a chance to go the whole way. I'm so sorry to see her leave.

It's such a shame that Ji removed herself because of her injury. She's not the only one who has slipped on that floor, perhaps this is a common thing in a kitchen. Perhaps someone with more experience with restaurants can comment.

Colleen has become a target of Ramsay but I'm not sure it is exactly fair for him to use her business as a reason for his wrath. She's weak no doubt, but Lacey is disgusting. She lays in bed all day while the others have to prep then condescends to join them. I was hoping that she would be the one eliminated but we'll have to wait now to see if she can improve.  :res:

Texas Lady,

Lacey's attitude during the morning and early afternoon was nothing short of slovenly. However, she really got back to normal for the service. Now, who was it that was asked to tutor Colleen, I think it was on the fish station, on how to do it correctly? The answer is Lacey. She did not deserve based on actual service performance to be on the chopping block, although colleen did. I would nominate Carol, who was pretty good in the Macchiavelli role, as theother person deserving of elimination.
