Dance Center Returns

The Macy's Stars of Dance Design-a-Dance Winner is Revealed

"Episode 707A" - After tallying the judges' and viewers' votes, the eighth couple to be eliminated from the competition is revealed on "Dancing with the Stars the Results Show," on a special day and time, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5 (8:00-9:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Legendary singer Lionel Richie will take to the stage performing his hit, "Dancing on the Ceiling," accompanied by professional dancers Cheryl Burke, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Kym Johnson and Tony Dovolani, as well as his first single, "Good Morning," from his new album "Just Go," coming out February 17, 2009 on Island Records.  This is Richie's first studio album in two years.  "Good Morning" will be danced to by professional dancers Edyta Sliwinska and Alec Mazo.

In a special Macy's Stars of Dance performance, the Macy's Design-a-Dance winning elements, including song, type of dance, male & female lead dancers and costume design selected by the public, will be revealed.  Since the beginning of the season, viewers have been logging onto abc.com to submit their own costume designs as well as vote for their favorite song, type of dance and dancers to create the public's ideal vision and performance.  The five final costume designs were selected and voted on by the public, leaving one lucky winner with the most votes to have his or her costume created by the show designer and worn by the winning professional dancer in the performance.

Dance Center is back with another hilarious segment, starring Season Two competitors Kenny Mayne and Jerry Rice, with head judge Len Goodman.

By evening's end one more couple will be eliminated, as determined by a combination of the judges' scores and viewers' votes. Who among the following six teams will leave the ballroom floor?

Lance Bass & Lacey Schwimmer
Brooke Burke & Derek Hough
Maurice Greene & Cheryl Burke
Cody Linley & Edyta Sliwinska
Susan Lucci & Tony Dovolani
Warren Sapp & Kym Johnson

An interview with Cloris:

Hey, Brad, Get Ready For Cloris

Cloris Leachman— At 82, the oldest (and spunkiest) contestant ever on "Dancing With the Stars"—was voted off the show last week. She spoke to Ramin Setoodeh.

Are you demanding a recount?
I should have. I don't know what possessed me not to. I'm sure it would all be different.

I bet you took Florida, with the senior vote.
Hahaha. Oh, I don't know if seniors like me at all. I think they're a little sick of me. I think they say, "Get off! We just want to rest." I thought I was wonderful. Then I saw a replay. I couldn't believe I was just one, two, three, turn. I didn't have the spunk I thought I had.

You have as much spunk as Mary Tyler Moore.
But Lou Grant never liked spunk. "I hate spunk"—remember?

Was it your decision to show all that cleavage?
No. I don't know what happens. Everything gets pushed up a bit.

Did you wear a special dancing bra?
Just a bra sewn in the costume.

Still, your cleavage must have helped you stay on the show.
No doubt. All those seniors are turned on.

I hear you're doing a movie with Brad Pitt next.
Yes. "Inglourious Basterds."

Should Angelina Jolie be nervous?
No. I don't think I have a thing with Brad—yet.

Something could develop.
Once I get to Berlin, you never know what's going to happen. No, I'll just take care of the kids.

There are a lot of them.
I can handle all of it.

Were you really a voice in the "My Little Pony" movie?
Was I? I never saw it.

Don't you see all your movies?
No. I didn't see the one with Diane Keaton, "Hanging Up." I played Meg Ryan's mother. But I didn't like the way Diane Keaton directed me, so I didn't see the movie.

Why?
She was having Meg say odd things to me, to get a reaction. It turned me off on the movie.

What about "Scary Movie 4"?
I was in it. I saw some of it.

Is it true Mel Brooks wants you to reprise your part in "Young Frankenstein" on Broadway?
Yeah. We're negotiating.

He once said you were so old, he worried you'd die onstage.
He's not worried anymore. Corky [Ballas, her dance partner on the show] threw me around today on "The View," and I thought I was dead when I stood up. I can't tell you—I really thought I died! I thought I was in heaven.

Did you need to see a doctor before you went on "Stars"?
Six different doctors. One doctor said he wouldn't let me do it because of my bad knee. I have no cartilage in the back.

Are you going to retire from dancing now?
Where would I dance? That's the big question. And with whom? I asked Fred Astaire to dance once, and he said, "No!" I don't know who I would ask anymore.

Where did you meet Astaire?
I was at Gene Kelly's house one afternoon, and Fred Astaire was there.

How did you end up at Gene Kelly's house?
We were friends—he, my husband and I. A lot of volleyball games went on over there.

Why did Astaire turn you down?
I don't know. I think all the women wanted to dance with him, and he couldn't do it.

But you're Cloris Leachman.
But I wasn't Cloris Leachman then.

If you kicked yourself for not recording the show when she was first on, you better get those Tivos set ‘cause Cloris Leachman is BACK! EXCLUSIVE: DWTS' Lance Bass: What You'll See on Tonight's Show

Lance Bass is keeping an exclusive diary only on Usmagazine.com about his experience competing on Dancing With the Stars. Check back each Monday to keep up with Bass' progress, and get behind-the-scenes dish on ABC's hit series.

TEAM TIME
Due to the Presidential Election on Tuesday, we'll dance tonight and get our results on Wednesday during the live elimination show. The team dance is something new on the show this year. They do it on the British version and I really like it. Now that there’s six couples left, we split up – it’s me, Cody [linley] and Susan Lucci – and we have to dance the cha cha. The other team, Maurice, Warren and Brooke, has the paso doble.

We have to come up with a routine where we all dance together at the beginning, have our own solos, and then dance again together again at the end. Lacey [Schwimmer] is choreographing our routine and our solo, which is a good ten counts of eight we have to do individually. The scores that we get as a group from the judges will be added on to our individual scores when we dance the rumba.

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBA!
It’s going to be so difficult for us to impress the judges this week, because last week, our jive was so fun and energetic – and this week we go straight to the rumba, which is so opposite, it's not my favorite. It's the "dance of love." We’re going to do from the perspective of a new couple who are just discovering each other. We're making it very Earthy - we'll be barefoot - like we’re on the beach doing the dance. It’s going to be very cute and sexy – and hopefully entertaining. We’re dancing to John Mayer’s “Your Body is a Wonderland. The more familiar the song is, the more people vote for you, and this is one of the most popular songs he’s ever done, so I think it’ll help.

WELCOME BACK, EDYTA
It’s going to be really interesting to see how Edyta [Sliwinska] and Cody work together. Cody’s 18 and young – Julianne [Hough] was perfect for him because they were that young, cute couple around the same age – and now he’s with sexy, sultry Edyta. It’s going to be funny to see this little teenager dance with this sex goddess. Either Edyta’s going to teach him some new things and make him look that much better, or it could throw him off, since he has to work with a new partner. Finally we have an advantage over him.

*NSYNC THROWBACK
I had to throw in some choreography from our song "Bye Bye Bye" during last week's hip-hop group routine! I was 'battling" Susan Lucci, so I wanted to do that "Bye Bye Bye" move right in her face. It was so funny to battle her, because she’s the sweetest woman in the world. I’m glad we did the group routine, because viewers saw how opposite hip-hop and ballroom are. Some of the celebrities had trouble, but the hip-hop routine was such a breath of fresh air for me. I wish we could do hip-hop every week! I ended up giving the mullet I wore during the routine to [judge] Carrie Ann [Inaba] after the show as a peace offering. She better give us good scores this week.

So the strong teams get stronger and the weak are more exposed. You would have to think that Cody would be on the chopping block, but I hope viewers will give him a pass for being instantly with a new partner. I think Lance/Lacey are doing OK. The celebrity most vulnerable right now is Susan. I predict she is the one who will be eliminated tomorrow night.

Yes, I think it's bye bye for Susan and Tony this week. I predict Warren and Kym will join them in the bottom two this week.

The team dance really hurt Cody and Lance this week but they'll survive.

Next week the remaining five couples will have to do two different dances, therefore, twice the hard work in rehearsals learning two different routines.

We'll probably found out on tomorrow's results show on whether Julianne is returning to the show next week or not.

Derek Hough: 'Dancing' pro Julianne Hough won't be back next week

Julianne Hough is probably still at least another week away from returning to Dancing with the Stars -- at least according to her brother and fellow dance professional Derek Hough.

"[She's] probably not going to be back next week. Even if she wanted to -- and she does want to -- we're not gonna let her. We're gonna make sure she's in bed," Hough told Entertainment Tonight after Dancing with the Stars' Monday night performance show.

Hough said that one of the reasons for delaying her comeback was to allow her more time to rest before resuming the stresses that come with dancing on a regular basis. However, he added that her recovery has been moving along well and that she has progressed to the point where she is no longer bed-ridden.

"She's getting better. The first couple days after the surgery were a nightmare, she was in a lot of pain. But she's a fighter, [she's] up and about. I've seen her and she's getting a lot better," Hough told ET.

Hough's celebrity partner Cody Linley told ET that he had visited her and, while acknowledging that she wasn't quite her usual "chipper self" due to her recovery, said that she was healing well. He also added that Hough said that she would be voting for him and Edyta Sliwinska, who is filling in for her during her absence.

Linley and Sliwinska performed a waltz on Monday's Dancing with the Stars performance show. The judges weren't overly impressed with the dance and only gave the pair a score of 22, however they also noted that Linley and Sliwinska were still getting to know each other.

After performing his waltz, Linley admitted that he had been nervous about switching partners to Dancing with the Stars co-host Samantha Harris, but said he has also been enjoying dancing with Sliwinska.

"It was tough. I was really, really nervous going into it [to be honest] because I've been with Julianne forever, she knows me," Linley told Harris. "Edyta and I, our relationship is new and we gotta have that chemistry, but she's been amazing. I trust her 100% and I think it was a great waltz."

Linley also reiterated that Hough was "doing great" and "looked awesome." He also revealed that he had spoken to her right before going onstage for his performance.

"She wished me luck, and she was like 'I know that you'll do it awesome, Edyta's amazing,'" Linley said. "She said sorry she cant be here. she was like 'I wanna be there with you, but I know you're gonna rock it.'"

Backstage: How Did Cody Really Do with Edyta?

Cody Linley, the only celebrity in the history of Dancing with the Stars to have to dance with a substitute partner, says he won't know until Wednesday when he'll be able to dance with pro Julianne Hough again. "We just don't know if she'll be up to it this week," he says.

Hough had to temporarily bow out of the competition last Tuesday to have laparoscopic surgery to remove her appendix and cysts on her ovaries, both complications of endometriosis. Hough herself estimated that she would be off the dance floor for two weeks. "She's doing great, but she was in a lot of pain [after surgery]," reports Hough's brother, Derek.

Linley, the 18-year-old Hannah Montana star, put on a brave face as he danced with another gifted pro, Edyta Sliwinska, but behind the scenes, he says, he wasn't coping well. "It was literally the hardest week of my life," he says. "I've never been under such physical and emotional stress."

Sliwinska, the only professional to have danced on the show all seven seasons, understands how difficult it's been on the young star. The pair had to perform two dances, without the benefit of the shorthand that the other couples have developed. "It was a really tough week," says Sliwinska. "Because at this point in the competition, people know each other so well, they know how each other move. It makes it so hard to come in with somebody else."

And being a substitute teacher wasn't the only challenge, says Sliwinska. "I'm really beginning to believe that this season is cursed," she says, referring to the unusual number of injuries. "Because the minute we started to rehearse, I got a huge blister on my foot from new shoes. So I had to rehearse in my socks for the whole week."

Monday’s Dancing: What You Didn’t See

She Likes Me!: Seven weeks into the competition, soap star Susan Lucci was called up to the judges podium by Carrie Ann Inaba and (awkwardly) instructed to address the crowd “I’m doing good!” Lucci may as well have added “and doggone it, Carrie Ann likes me.” After the show, Lucci said the standing ovation she received for her paso doble “was just spectacular.” It was a better feeling than the one Lucci had several days prior. Stricken with an intestinal virus, Lucci had to miss a rehearsal session. “I thought that I was holding up really well (with commuting from L.A. to NYC for All My Children). Friday after work at AMC I got this virus and I couldn’t leave home. I was quite dehydrated. But we tried to catch up and our paso doble was great. This was very nice.” “She’s a trooper,” Lucci’s partner Tony Dovolani says.

Welcome Back: With Julianne Hough absent from Monday night’s competition while she recuperated from surgery for endometriosis, Edyta Sliwinska (eliminated in week one with partner Jeffrey Ross) stepped in to partner up with Cody Linley. So what has Edyta been doing with her time since leaving the show? “I’ve been catching up and basically enjoying my time off,” she said, noting that re-joining the show mid-season made her feel a little rusty. “It is so much easier when the momentum builds up. I’m so out of breath.” The adjustment was also felt by Linley, who’s become very close with Hough. “This was the hardest week of my life. I’ve never been under so much stress – physical stress, mental stress, time constraints, trying to learn two dances with a new partner, but Edyta was an angel,” says Linley, who visited with Hough over the weekend.

This Little Piggy: Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer’s barefoot rumba received mixed reviews, but the pair say they felt amazing going shoeless. “This has been a really good week,” Bass told PEOPLE after the show. “Every Monday you do the recap and you’re either depressed or you’re really happy and we’re really happy. This was the most comfortable day in my life, to dance in pajamas and barefoot. I wish I could do that every day.” Bass and Schwimmer donned shoes for the group cha cha, in which the judges commended them for being the best couple in the group and thereby ‘saving’ the number. The highlight of the group dance was the men (Linley, Bass and pro Tony Dovolani) ripping open their shirts, which made the audience cheer with excitement. Who knew Bass had a nifty set of abs? “This is called not eating for a week,” Bass joked. “All season long I haven’t been able to hit the gym at all, but this week I really hit it hard because I knew we were going to have to show our bare chests. But it all came back pretty quickly,” he said.

Simply the Best: Their hot-to-foxtrot earned the season’s first perfect score and Brooke Burke and Derek Hough couldn’t have been happier. “There was something special about tonight,” Burke gushed after the show. “I loved this dance. It was fun, I loved the routine. Everything fell into place this week.” “I could tell when I was teaching her this dance that everything just kind of happened naturally,” Hough said. “We all have our dances and tonight was definitely one of her dances – I say one because she’s got many of them.” Hough, whose sister is a two-time champ and whose roommate, Mark Ballas, won last year, admits he’s in hot pursuit of the disco ball trophy this season. “I want it! Why not spread the wealth? On one hand seeing Julianne and how she’s off and Cody, you know, working so hard, you know they want to win. But on the other hand, I’m like Julianne you can’t win a third time!”

The B(usy) List: A bevy of Bass fans filled a corner of the ballroom, including actress Danielle Fishel and comedian Kathy Griffin. After the show Griffin told PEOPLE three reasons why she would NOT partake in DWTS: “Number one, I can’t even touch my toes. Number two, I don’t get along with others so I’d probably fire my partner. And number three, I am busy telling d— jokes and I cannot spend my time dancing. I have a lot of celebrities to offend and I need to stay focused.”

Post-Surgery Update on Julianne Hough

Less than a week after Dancing With the Stars pro dancer Julianne Hough announced she'd be taking her leave of the show to have surgery on her appendix, the beautiful blonde’s brother — and fellow DWTS hoofer — Derek Hough gave OK! an update on his sister's condition.

“She was in a lot of pain for a couple of days afterwards," Derek explained to OK! following Monday night's performance show, where he and celebrity partner Brooke Burke scored a perfect 30 for their dance. "But she’s a fighter; she’ll get through."

As for Julianne's optimistic statements that she'd be back on the show after only a couple of weeks off her feet, Derek is more cautious. "I don’t think she’ll be back to dance next week," he admitted, adding, "I’m going to make her stay in bed!”

And it looks like things are tough all over for the Hough family. Derek revealed to OK! that the siblings' father Bruce, who lives in Utah, broke his collar bone in half playing lacrosse.

"In humor, after he did it — with his bone is popping out of his shoulder — he said, ‘Yeah, I thought I was young and I forgot I’m 54 years old,’" Derek told OK!. "I love him. This happened a day before Julianne went into surgery. They actually went into surgery on the same day.”

Lance & Lacey Go Toe-to-Toe

OK! recently sat down for an exclusive photoshoot with DWTS partners Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer, and in an OK! first, they began interviewing each other!

Lance: When you found out who the Dancing With the Stars contestants were, who did you want as your partner?

Lacey: You!

Lance: For reals?

Lacey: Yeah, I was asked who I thought I was going to get and I said, "Lance Bass." And then there you were, coming through those doors. It was a slow-motion moment, like coming through the clouds and angels. We hit it off right away and were BlackBerry Messenger buddies from day one.

Lance: What do you like in a guy?

Lacey: I like guys who are quirky. I'm a huge dork and not at all ladylike. I burp and sneeze and it's gross – and guys have to accept that. Anyone who is funny and a gentleman would be nice, because I meet a lot of jerks.

Lance: Don't we all.

Lance: You think we can win this?

Lacey: I dunno. Do you?

Lance: I think that we're definitely on the right track.

Lacey: Yeah. We have a lot of work to do. But each week feels like a stepping-stone.

Lance: And it's all a game.

Lacey: I'm in it to have fun with you. We goof off way more than we should, but that's why we're such good friends.

Lacey: Are you going to miss me when the show's over?

Lance: No, I'm going to see you a lot.

Lacey: What if I moved to Zimbabwe?

Lance: Then you'd have to come back and visit.

Lacey: On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you love me?

Lance: Twelve.

Lacey: Oh my gosh, that's off the charts!

Julianne's Painful Struggle

Less than a week after undergoing surgery following her collapse backstage at Dancing with the Stars, Julianne Hough is opening up to E! News about the medical condition she now says she's battled "for a while."

Hough, 20, revealed to Samantha Harris that she suffers from Endometriosis, a condition affecting the lining of a woman's uterus.  The always smiling Julianne says she's put up with abdominal pains for about five years, but only recently felt that it had gotten serious.

"I didn't want this whole drama with, like, the cameras filming you," Hough said. "I kept going through the show and I was just kind of quiet, and through the show it just kept getting worse and worse."

On Oct. 21, Hough was rushed to the hospital following an elimination show to which she explains: "Right after the show I came back and just curled up in a ball, and I was just sobbing...And there were cameras and I'm like, 'I love you guys, but I did not break my foot.' I was like, 'This is something personal, do not film this.'"

Julianne says she told doctors initially that she wanted to wait on surgery and finish out the season of DWTS, but doctors recommended that she have the procedure done now--a decision she is happy she made.

"It's actually a really good thing I did," she says. Hough's boyfriend, country singer Chuck Wicks, has been there for her the entire time, offering his support. "When somebody can take care of you and really wants to care of you, instead of someone taking care of you because they have to, you can tell they're a keeper."

As for her future on DWTS, Hough says she hopes to be strutting her stuff on the dance floor very soon.

"I want to be back this week, but it may be another week just because we don't want to anything to rupture or the stitches to fly out," she says.

Despite her initial anxiety about coming forward with her experience, Hough says she did it to help other women."I've always been honest, and I think it can help other girls who ignore pain," she says. "You don't have to ignore pain."

In Touch Exclusive: Lacey Schwimmer’s bad week

Lacey Schwimmer is all smiles on Dancing With the Stars. But off the dance floor, the professional dancer admitted to In Touch that she’s been having a really rough week. After recognizing that she shared a lot of the same symptoms as her co-star Julianne Hough, who is being treated for endometriosis, Lacey went to the doctor. “I was ignoring the signs,” she tells In Touch. “Then I thought, ‘Better safe than sorry,’ and went in for a checkup. The news was not so hot.” But after being diagnosed with the gynecological disease, she was ready to return to work. “Everything is under control and I am back to focus on Lance,” she says about her partner on DWTS, Lance Bass, who spilled the beans to In Touch about another tragic event in Lacey’s life. “Her childhood dog passed away,” he reveals. “Yeah, he passed away,” Lacey confirms. “And I broke up with my boyfriend. It’s been a really crazy week.”

Julianne Hough ‘Feeling Phenomenal’ After Surgery

Five days after having surgery for endometriosis, Julianne Hough tells PEOPLE she’s “feeling phenomenal. I am still walking slow but I’m feeling good.”

The 20-year-old two-time Dancing champ was taken to the hospital following the October 21 DWTS live results show for what initially was believed to be severe stomach pains.

Her personal physician determined she was suffering from endometriosis, a condition in which the uterine lining forms tissue outside of the uterus. On October 28, Hough underwent a nearly two-hour procedure to remove her appendix, a cyst on her ovary, and scar tissue that had formed on her bladder and fallopian tubes.

Dr. Randy S. Harris, tells PEOPLE Hough “should be able to dance again in about a week. She was exhausted and a little dehydrated, so that’s why she needs to get a little more rest.”

Hough was nursed back to health by her mom, Mariann Nelson, and her boyfriend, country singer Chuck Wicks, who she says “got to see me at my lowest point. You can really tell when someone loves you because they mean it. They are not just taking care of you because you need it, they WANT to take care of you. He’s a sweetheart.”

Hough, who’s on tap to host the Country Music Association Awards pre-show on November 12, is anxious to return to Dancing and reunite with her season seven partner, actor Cody Linley.

“I miss her so much. She’s my best friend,” says Linley, who’s since been partnered with pro Edyta Sliwinska while Hough recuperates

Maks to Fans: Catch Me on Dancing Tour

Dancing pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy and partner Misty May-Treanor’s early exit from this season was a disappointment. But Chmerkovskiy assures fans they can catch him on the upcoming Dancing with the Stars winter tour, which kicks off December 17 in San Diego.

“This is one of the things I’ve been wanting to do for a long time,” Chmerkovskiy tells PEOPLE. In fact, he has signed on to choreograph and star in the upcoming winter production. “This will be a chance for people to see what I can do and I hope to make things fresh and active. I didn’t see the other tours but I guarantee that what we will do will not be redundant,” says Chmerkovskiy, who choreographed the show La Reve at The Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas last year.

It will be the first time the 28-year-old will partake in the 34-city tour. He was previously tapped to dance in the winter 2006-2007 tour, but dropped out when his partner at the time, singer-actress Willa Ford, booked a movie.

“I’m excited to hit the road and see the fans and really dance and stay active,” Says Chmerkovskiy, who will perform on Wednesday night’s live results show in a dance number with fellow pro Cheryl Burke.

The fans are showing tendencies to mirroring my logic. I predicted that Susan/Tony would be eliminated and the losing team tonight was Susan/Tony. Both Lance/Lacey and Cody/Edyta(probably one week more) are now the targets for next week. I see Brooke/Derek, Maurice/Cheryl and Warren/Kym as not being in jeopardy based on their better performances so far.

:waves: apskip.
I was purdy sure Susan/Tony would be out this week.
I threw all my votes to Cody/Edyta, b/c he's not doing as well w/ Edyta...(but they may do lots better next time.)

I WANTED Susan to go this week!  She's just not relaxed enough.

My final 4 prediction:
4th Lance/Lacey
3rd Warren/Kym
2nd Maurice/Cheryl
Winners: Brooke/Derek  Yeah!  :jumpy:
If Brooke doesn't win, hope it's Warren.
I really don't like Lance's dancing.
(love his singing though!)

My guess is Lance/Lacey or Cody/Edyta are out next week.
JMHO. :)
