I told this to ap in a PM, but I'll put it here. Cloris is reaching out to AARP to appeal to them to vote for her. As we know, AARP is a very active voting block.

What a sneaky old bag  :funny: omg so sorry hehehe
Well, what happened? Third one to stay.

Ken, as a fan of Dancing With the Stars, I am sure you know that the order in which staying teams are presented on the results show has no relation to their actual position. Cloris being third to be announced has no meaning beyond that she is staying for one more week. There just can't be that many seniors willing to overlook her obvious lack of dancing talent for much longer.
I'm very well aware of that, ap. But knowing that Cloris needed her late afternoon nap, I'm sure the producers decided to make the announcement early so she wouldn't become irregular.

(remember ap, that's a joke.)

I am enjoying the new season and love the diversity of the dancers. Who are your early favorites?

I'm rooting for Cody/Julianne, Lance/Lacey and Brooke/Derek.

I hope Cloris/Corky gets eliminated soon. She's an embarassement and can't dance for nothing!

An interesting article:

Ted McGinley leaves Dancing; even its judges don’t understand elimination show order

At the end of its fifth hour of the week, Dancing with the Stars 7 eliminated its second celebrity: Ted McGinley. In part because it featured the Jonas Brothers and very little Cloris Leachman, it was long, drawn-out, and relatively boring.

To maintain drama, those who’d received the lowest scores from the judges were saved early on, while apparently favorites such as Lance Bass were kept around until the end. And they were kept around, because the show’s eliminations remove contestants from the danger of elimination in random order, which is pretty sketchy, mostly because no matter how many times the hosts say that elimination is random, the effect is that those who are saved early are safe and those who stick around received fewer votes.

Even Len Goodman, the show’s lead judge, doesn’t understand the process. “I find it very surprising that the pair of them are in the bottom two,” he said when asked for his comments. Literally seconds earlier, Tom Bergeron told Toni Braxton and Ted McGinley, “you are not necessarily in the bottom two, but unfortunately, one of you is definitely in the bottom one.” If even the show’s own judge doesn’t get it after six seasons, will viewers?

Because the perception that those remaining are at risk is so strong, the producers can easily use that to encourage or discourage votes. Those who are saved early in the episode appear to be safe while those left in the spotlights at the end appear to be at risk and in need of votes, so by removing, say, Cloris Leachman early, she seems comfortably safe, and her fans might not vote as much last week—and she actually could have had the second lowest number of votes this week. Likewise, someone placed in the not-actually-bottom-two bottom two might have been popular, but their results show status might lead their fans to vote even more, siphoning votes away from others.

The real problem is that it’s not random order, it’s dramatic order. The producers can play around all they want, but they actually need to end up with the bottom two (or four) at the end of the process, just like happens on American Idol. That show doesn’t reveal vote totals because that could lead fans to lose interest in someone who’s doing well, and that makes sense, but at least it’s honest about who doesn’t do well.

It would behoove these voting shows like DWTS and the fraudish American Idol to release the voting totals so people know how the dancers fared. In the current way, there is too much room for the producers to push out whomever they want. At least release the results on the DWTS website.

I don't know I think the votes are accurate based on how everyone loves Cloris they prefer her antics over her dance ability to keep her in.

It's all a joke really.

In the Realityblurred.com article referenced above, their statement is

"Ted McGinley leaves Dancing; even its judges don’t understand elimination show order."

With the other discussion on this thread, it is crystal clear that Len the head judge does not understand that the last two teams are paired so that one team is dead last and the other is anything (but usually in the middle and not also at the bottom). Anyone that could not tell in the final pairings this week that Jeffrey and Ted were going to be eliiminated just from who else was still standing is not focusing enough. The question is should ABC follow the suggestion someone on this thread has proposed that they put the bottom two teams last? I think they should.

Lol Len was confused and good thing Tom was able to quickly correct him.

I can see why abc would choose to have the teams called in random order as week to week the results show would be boring in a repetitive way ( like it’s not already ) but yes it would also be nice that we knew what the actual votes were although you already did say it best and it is predictable.

A great idea by TARAsia to have the voting results disclosed on the website.

I just can’t take it seriously apskip to announce how each player has fared when I question each vote made was it just to keep the undeserving underdog for the sake of drama or was it really based on how well they thought the contestants performed. I also know some DWTS fans vote to keep their favorite professional dancer just to add to the pot oh and of course there are the votes that are made because they think that someones cute lol.

An interesting article:

Sapp's Massive Head Larger Than It Appears

If voting were up to the cast and crew of "DWTS" -- we're told Warren Sapp would be the first one to go.

Our spies at "DWTS" tell TMZ Sapp may have big personality when the cameras are rolling, but his big head and man-diva attitude are causing problems behind the scenes.

We're told Sapp talks down to everybody (especially the guy dancers and production assistants), yells at people and consistently walks out of rehearsals with partner Kym Johnson.

Move ovah, Shannon Elizabeth!

An interesting article:

Olympian Misty May-Treanor trades the beach for ballroom on 'Dancing'

Misty May-Treanor just won back-to-back gold medals in beach volleyball, but all she can think about is dancing.

“Every time I wake up, it’s like I can’t wait to dance,” the Olympian says after wrapping a three-hour rehearsal at a dance studio here. “I can’t wait to get back in there to see if things soaked in overnight.”

As a contestant on the seventh season of “Dancing With the Stars,” May-Treanor has traded the beach for the ballroom. Her swimsuit and bare feet have been replaced with swingy skirts and high-heeled shoes. And the 31-year-old athlete is loving every minute of it.

“I followed the show and I never thought in a million years that I’d be a participant,” in the show that pairs stars with professional dancers to compete weekly in tightly choreographed routines, she says. “It was something where deep down I was like, ‘Oh, it would be so fun to be on that show.”‘

May-Treanor glides around the room, her champagne-colored heels hitting the wood floor in perfect time. She’s so graceful and elegant, it’s hard to believe that this is the same woman who’s known as a killer on the sand court.

She learned she’d be joining the cast while she was in Beijing, where she and partner Kerri Walsh defeated China to win their second gold medal.

“She missed the closing ceremonies to come and start training with Maks,” executive producer Conrad Green says, referring to her professional dance partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. “He whisked her straight to rehearsal.”

Chmerkovskiy, a Latin-dance champ and veteran of the show, also traveled with his student to the last remaining tournaments of her volleyball season, where he urged her to keep her eye on the ball and her mind off the dance floor.

But May-Treanor says she’s eager to set her sport aside and focus on something new for a while.

“It is nice for me, especially playing for so long,” she says, adding that she hasn’t had a summer off since she was 11 years old. “This takes my mind off of volleyball... It’s nice just to step away.”

She’s not stepping into entirely unfamiliar territory. May-Treanor studied dance as a child in Los Angeles, fitting ballet, jazz and baton-twirling lessons in between soccer and volleyball practices.

The challenge now is shedding the powerful stance developed over years of dedicated sports training and recapturing that effortless, light-on-your-feet elegance.

“That’s what I’m trying to do and it’s bringing that passion in again, like trying to be graceful and using your body to make it flow instead of thunk,” she says, stomping her feet on the floor.

She’s put her full faith into her instructor and follows whatever direction he gives.

“I’m in his world so I let him decide everything,” she says. “If he was on the sand, then I would be like, ‘OK, you need to be in shorts and this is what we’re going to do.”‘

May-Treanor has been such a compliant student — rehearsing constantly and allowing Chmerkovskiy to choose the moves, the music and the costumes — that he just might lose his hardheaded reputation.

“I know what I’m doing and I feel like, with her, I don’t have to prove it,” Chmerkovskiy says. “She trusts that my best intention is for her to do the best she can.”

She’ll be competing with singers Lance Bass and Toni Braxton; TV personalities Brooke Burke and Kim Kardashian; actors Cloris Leachman, Cody Linley, Susan Lucci and Ted McGinley; comedian Jeffrey Ross; chef Rocco DiSpirito; NFL star Warren Sapp and fellow gold medalist Maurice Greene. The first couple will be eliminated Tuesday.

(Chmerkovskiy, however, is confident enough that he has already ordered up five weeks worth of costumes from wardrobe.)

The cast is the largest ever assembled for the ABC show, and it boasts the youngest (Linley, 16) and oldest (Leachman, 82) contestants in its history.

No leading dancers have emerged yet, Green says, but athletes have an advantage.

“They know how to train. They know how not to get exhausted by the training. They’re used to taking orders and they’re used to pushing their bodies,” he says, noting that two gold-medal Olympians — Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Anton Ohno — have won past competitions. “They definitely have an advantage, but it’s not unfair because there’s no reason to believe that a beach volleyball player would be any good at dancing.”

May-Treanor already has ideas for the freestyle dance, which comes at the end of the competition, and Green says she could go all the way.

Would taking home the mirrorball trophy herald a new career for the volleyball star?

“Right now I’m busy with this and having a great time, so if something comes out of it, then something comes out of it,” she says. “But that’s not what I’m looking for. It’s not like I hope from this I’m going to be a reality-show (regular). I’m just doing it to learn something new and have fun.”

"Dancing with the Stars" Winner Julianne Hough to Blog Exclusively on Fancast.com

Fancast (www.fancast.com), the ultimate, next generation entertainment site where users can watch free premium TV and movie content, today announced that two-time "Dancing with the Stars" winner and recording artist Julianne Hough will be blogging exclusively on the site each day following the bi-weekly airing of the show.

Hough, will share her thoughts on the seventh season competitions and reveal behind-the-scenes views of the hit ABC show. The Emmy-nominated star, who this year is partnered with "Hannah Montana's" Cody Linley, had this to say in her first post about Monday's season opener:

"I thought (Cody Linley) was awesome. I was extremely happy. In rehearsal he was good, but he knocked it out of the house (Monday) night. As far as the scores, I would've thought the performance should've got 7's instead of 6's. But we were the first ones out. And it's okay. The thing is, we're right in the middle. We aren't at the bottom and we aren't at the top, which gives us room to grow. My season with Apollo was the same thing; we were right in the middle. The judges don't want to see you to (sic) come out too strong and not have any room for improvement. They want to see improvement."

Fancast.com, is the home to more than 5,600 free full-length TV episodes from the top networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, Comedy Central, MTV and The WB. Fancast streams all the shows fans need to watch to be "in the know" when it comes to TV including exclusive blog content on the season's hottest shows. "Dancing with the Stars" fans should check back after each episode to get the scoop on what they didn't see when the cameras stopped rolling.

So? Did everyone like it? I did  I thought Misty did great given the fact that I didn't try to do anything 'extra' just yet. CA and Bruno need to realize this show is called Dancing With The Stars and not So You Think You Can Dance....... I know they come from the world of contemporary dance and their only Ballroom/Latin experience comes from judging our show, but Lance's Quickstep (and I like him a lot as a person) was really bad and didn't deserve an 8!

Have fun...... Enjoy..... Talk to you later

I agree with her that the judging behavior she cites is real. I find it sad that excellence takes second place in dance team behavior to gaming the system to beat the judging strategy.

An interesting article:

What to expect on tonight's 'Dancing with the Stars'

Tonight, the remaining celebrities on “Dancing With the Stars” will tackle the paso doble or the rumba, starting at 8 p.m. on ABC (WXYZ-TV, Channel 7). It’s only the second week of the show, but the great unanswered questions are piling up already. Here’s what to look for:

1. What will Cloris Leachman do next on live TV? At this point, we’re ready to declare the 82-year-old actress the winner, because she’s all anyone is talking about. Will she plop her cleavage in front of judge Len Goodman again? Will she have to be bleeped again when the scores are announced? Usually, we’re all for spontaneity on television, but Leachman is starting to make us nervous.

2. What song will Kim Kardashian use tonight? Kardashian and partner Mark Ballas danced to Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” last week, and America’s collective jaw dropped as she shook her famous booty to the immortal lyrics, “I like big butts and I cannot lie.” So where does she go from here as she tries to follow the judges’ orders and inject more personality into her performances? Hmm, maybe Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie”? Spinal Tap’s “Big Bottom”? We’re just wondering.

3. Who’s the strongest female contender? Well, Brooke Burke has the hyper-extended legs that were praised by her partner, Derek Hough, last week, but she’s not as well-known as singer Toni Braxton, who’s turning out great performances in spite of her heart condition, or Misty May-Treanor, who’s coming off a high-profile Olympic gold medal win in beach volleyball. For now, at least, we’re giving a slight edge to Burke, but this is going to be a close race.

4. Who’s the best athlete-turned-dancer? As much as we like May-Treanor and Olympic gold-medal sprinter Maurice Greene, former NFL defensive tackle Warren Sapp has made the biggest impression so far. He’s like the big, burly relative at a wedding reception who surprises everyone by burning up the dance floor. Now if only we can figure out a way to get a Detroit Lion on the show and provide the team with some good news.

5. Will audiences ever warm to Lacey Schwimmer? She’s the new professional dancer who’s paired with former ‘N Sync star Lance Bass. In the floaty, graceful world of ballroom, Schwimmer comes across as edgy and a little scary. Will this hurt Bass’s chances? Will she get into a fistfight with Cheryl and Kym? Keep watching.

6. Will Cody Linley be less boring this week? The “Hannah Montana” teen dream has been surprisingly bland on and off the dance floor. When the chef, Rocco DiSpirito, has more star wattage, you know he’s in trouble.

7. Will Susan Lucci ever forgive judge Carrie Ann Inaba for calling her, in essence, too thin and frail? Would any cougar?

I agree with her that the judging behavior she cites is real. I find it sad that excellence takes second place in dance team behavior to gaming the system to beat the judging strategy.

I also agree apskip

I think most of them are holding back but at least that gives us something to look forward to as I am already excited to see tonights show  :jumpy:
