"Dancing with the Stars" (8:00-9:30 p.m.)
Monday's most-watched program for the 6th time in as many weeks, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" saw week-to-week increases in both Total Viewers (18.8 million vs. 18.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.2/10 vs. 4.1/10).  In fact, "DWTS" drew is largest audience in 4 weeks (since 9/29/08) and best young adult rating in 3 weeks (since 10/06/08).  "DWTS" ranked as Monday's No. 1 broadcast program  among Adults 18-49 and the night's top program overall among Women 18-49 (6.0/14) and Adults 25-54 (5.4/12).

"Samantha Who?" (9:30-10:00 p.m.)

Building on the previous week's performance in both Total Viewers (9.1 million vs. 8.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.3/6 vs. 2.1/5), ABC's "Boston Legal" logged its largest audience of the season and highest Adult 18-49 rating since its season premiere.  In fact, the ABC drama turned in its highest Total Viewer count in 6 months - since 4/22/08.  "Boston Legal" defeated NBC's "My Own Worst Enemy" for the 3rd week running by a season best 3.8 million viewers (9.1 million vs. 5.3 million).  Additionally, the ABC drama beat the NBC series among Women 18-49 (3.1/7 vs. 2.3/6) and Adults 25-54 (3.1/7 vs. 2.6/6) for the second week in a row.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 28% currently, from 20% at the same point in 2007. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.

Julianne Hough: "I Have Endometriosis. I'd Still Like A Hough Vs. Hough Final"

Well, as of yesterday, the news is out there. Here's the latest. Later today I’m meeting with my doctor, getting the rundown of the procedure. He’s going to go through everything about the surgery. I’m not worried. I'm feeling good.

Actually what happened is last week was more than just a tummy ache. Obviously. It turned out I ruptured a cyst that was on my ovary. I didn’t’ know but I have endometriosis. I’ve apparently had it for a long time because I’ve had this pain for about the last five years. It hasn’t been as bad. Up till last week, I let it go and I was always too busy to get it checked out. But because it happened when I was on set, they made me go to the doctor.

They want to clean out the cysts and take out my appendix, too, because later on it can be affected by the cysts. Endometriosis is a common thing for women. I was like “thanks mom for giving me my great life – and endometriosis.” I said that jokingly. My sister who has five children is going in for the same surgery in a couple weeks.

Last week my management and the other people around me were trying to think of something else I could say that was wrong with me, but I was like, don’t worry. I want to be a good role model. I want to be honest. Maybe some girl out there won’t wait too long like I did. I’m just glad I’m taking care of it now because I want to have babies some day. I don’t want to jeopardize my health.

They’re doing it laparoscopically through my belly button so I won’t have a scar. My mom had it done a few years ago and she doesn’t have a scar. With my mom and my sister having endometriosis, you can see genetics plays a big part. I guess my brother Derek is the only sibling in the family who doesn’t have to worry about having his ovaries checked.
They say its three or four days of recovery. I’m thinking more like a week. Then I'll be able to work with Cody. But I won’t be dancing for two weeks.

It’s kind of been a weird couple days for the Houghs. My dad was playing father-son lacrosse on Saturday and was running down the field, stubbed his toe, fell down, broke his collar bone in two places and separated his shoulder. He was going to be with me for my surgery but he’s going in for his own today. I want to say thanks to a Fancast user named Nana who wrote in with good wishes for my dad.

As for last night’s performance, I didn’t feel that great, obviously. I toughed my way through it. I guess I have a strong threshold for pain. I wanted to do my best for Cody. He’s awesome and he deserves to go all the way in the competition. I didn’t want my problems to get in his way. So I went out and did my best. I don’t think I put myself at any risk by dancing. My doctor’s wife was a jazz dancer, so he was familiar with dancer’s crazy determination to dance through pain. He said it was ok. I asked if I could do the surgery after the show was over, but he said that was too long. They wanted to do surgery last Friday, but I said I wanted to do the dance on Monday for Cody. Edyta will be great. She’s a great girl and a terrific dancer. I want people to still vote for Cody and know I’ll be back.

A few people have written in to this blog about wanting a Hough vs. Hough final, and I think that would be great fun. I hope it happens! Brooke has been a frontrunner from the beginning, and I think Cody has shown what this show is about. We’ll see.
I didn’t get Bruno at all last night. I was pissed at him. Think about it. That song was a strong sexy song, not the kind of song Bruno said it was. I think Carrie Ann was right. I think Cody has improved so much. I was really proud of him. But in the confessional, I had to watch what I said about the judges, well, what I said about Bruno.

All night long I got really nice, loving messages from all the dancers. Everyone has been very supportive.

As for the next week or so, my mom is going to take good care of me. She’s been with me for almost a month. Something seems to happen every week where I need her to stay. She’s been awesome.

Let me answer some of your questions and comments.

Debbie, you asked about releasing “Dreaming Under the Same Moon” as a single. It probably won’t come out as a single. Now that my brother has signed with Hollywood Records, I don’t know if that will be easy.

Janice, you’re right, it is the Ventura pier in my video. It was really cold that day. But it was so beautiful out there. That was a great video to make. I’m sorry you get homesick when seeing that.

And to Sammi and the rest of you who’ve sent in good wishes, especially the last couple days but also through the season, thank you for supporting me and thinking about me. It means a lot. I appreciate it.

I’ll try to blog again next week.

Talk to you later.

An interesting article:

Monday’s Dancing: What You Didn’t See

Lil’ Leachy’s Last Stand?: After last night’s lackluster cha-cha-cha, Cloris Leachman may be bidding farewell to the ballroom but she left America with an indelible image: channeling Flavor Flav in the season’s first group dance. “I see Cloris as a hip-hop grandma,” pro Tony Dovolani joked, “If she came out with her own rap album, it might be titled The Next William Hung! Lance Bass added, “We’ve already had a rapping granny, but when Cloris walked into rehearsals with that ghetto blaster, I almost died. If she had a rap name, it would have to be, ‘Lil’ Leachy!” Judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who had harsh words for the 82-year-old actress after her dance, thought Leachman’s outrageous hip-hop effort “was better than her cha-cha.” So does the original Fly Girl think there’s a hip-hop album in Leachman’s future? “I just know that there would be the word ‘ho’ in it,” laughed Inaba, who added, “and that’s all I’m going to say!”

The Season Seven Curse: From simple sprains to career-threatening Achilles’ injuries, both dancers and contestants are wondering whether this season may have a dark cloud hanging over it. “We need to hold a seance out here,” said Warren Sapp. “I’m not sure, but I think someone has some voodoo dolls stashed away somewhere.” “They need to open up a wing at Cedar’s dedicated to DWTS,” Derek Hough joked, before turning serious about his sister Julianne’s condition. “Trust me, I was so concerned that I had to rush out from the press line, but all I could do was make her laugh because I’ve never been good at comforting people, and she didn’t like it because when she laughed, it hurt her stomach.”

The Missing Step: Warren Sapp’s rumba, which included a foot fault, left the former defensive player of the year a little defensive. “I could have bluffed my way through it,” Sapp said. “I screw it up all the time in practice, but that’s the first time I made a mistake that big on this floor.” Inaba agreed with the former pro-bowler, saying of Sapp’s gaffe and subsequent goofy face, “Had he not made that face, I wouldn’t have thought he made a mistake.” Though Sapp failed to wow the judges, the NFLer had a fellow hall of famer in his corner: Marshall Faulk, who sat front row to support his pal. “To see the Big Fella out there doing these dances, it’s amazing.” Faulk said, “You expect him to be able to do the funky dances, but to see him do the rumba–and be so sensual–not only is it great, but it’s good ammunition for me to use on the roasting Warren circuit when that time comes.” Sapp’s response to Faulk’s, ahem, praise: “That dirtbag told me that if I didn’t make it past the first week, I might as well not come back to the job. He said that I had to make it a little way before he came to see me, and it took me six weeks for him to come here.”

More From Inside the Ballroom:
• Substitute judge Michael Flatley not only won over the contestants, but fans as well with his constructive critiques and old-school gentlemanly manners. During a break, Flatley stood and pulled out Inaba’s chair, gently pushing it back under the desk after his fellow judge had exited. The gesture wasn’t lost on the audience, with a group of older women roundly applauding the act of chivalry.

• Anna Faris turned out to support “bestie” Lance Bass, but the House Bunny star and unabashed DWTS fan seemed far more interested in her Scary Movie 4 costar Cloris Leachman. Faris led the standing ovation that followed Leachman’s bizarre cha-cha.

• In Len Goodman’s absence, Bruno Tonioli happily played the role of paddle-wielding curmudgeon. His comparatively low scores for the dances routinely drew a chorus of boos from the audience. With Flatley rolling out high praise for each dance, followed by even higher paddle scores, Tonioli spent the evening rolling his eyes

These results shows for DWTS are totally hokey except for the final minute when they tell you what everyone is waiting to hear, the eliminated couple. Well tonight it finally happened. Cloris Leachman and her partner Corky Ballas were finally sent packing by the American public. At first it was a novelty while Cloris hung around and took spots that should have gone to much better dancers. The public has finally decreed that it's had enough Cloris even though many admire her, but not her dancing skills.
