Peach, technically there are differences between hydoroils and Tubo-Jets. However, sometimes ferry builders incorporate parts of both. Such as in Hong Kong/Macau, where the "turbo-jets" going from Macau to Hong Kong airport look like this:

To me, that looks a lot like a hydrofoil even though it technically isn't.

On their vessel page they call them "Catamaran ferries" and "Hydrofoil ferries" and for me that's almost TMI...

And the ride of their life? G&T on the helicopter--just hype or does that really make the difference? Or something else entirely? A 16 minute ride to the airport doesn't classify as the "ride of their life"--or does it??

"Lead they desire" to me suggests Ida and Tania who need a win to avoid their penalty. It could refer to AD and Fuzzie who haven't won yet, but they don't seem too fazed, as long as they aren't last they are happy...
