It really goes on how you compete.
For example, in track (i.e. another race), you generally don't try and do anything that impedes the other racer. You are simply trying to do your best and hoping your best is better then theirs.
I honestly do have a strong perference for this type of competition. Even with my favorite team, I didn't like it that they cancelled teams cabs. That was somewhat balanced by the fact that they actually owned up to it, before the race left the airport. Why BJ & Tyler didn't yield them is beyond me....
But there are many competitions where you have rules for what is an allowable for means and whys of trying to impede another competitor. Soccer and Football for example have a lot of that.
I understand that lying is used on the race. The thing I don't care for is two fold. Hypocrisy. Or a team who lies to a team and also lies to the audience.
Take Rob and Amber compared to Dustin & Kandice. In general I like BQ's a lot more (a lot more). But one thing I liked about Rob is that he usually would be honest in confessionals or to the audience. I loved that BQ's yielded Bama and Eric & Danielle, both were smart choices. I didn't care for them not owning up (to the audience) about deceiving teams about their use of the Yield in season 10. I mean common on be honest with us....
