BB8 in the news...schedule etc ..
« on: June 01, 2007, 03:27:23 PM »
This from Entertainment Weekly magazine, week of June 8th.
Summer TV preview

Big Brother 8
July/TBA/CBS
The eighth installment of CBS peekaboo playground will have trouble topping last years unforgettable Al- Stars, with curvy Janelle and the cunning Dr Will. " They were some of the best reality contestants out there," says exec producer Allison Grodner. So are there major changes in the works to keep things fresh? Well...no. "Then it won't be Big Brother," says Grodner. Expect the return of Julie Chen, the golden veto, twists like last years sleep- deprivation graveyard, and more of that disgusting, lumpy gruel.

CBS plans 'Big Brother' spinoff
Reality hit spawns new series for cable 'Brother' adds sister net
By JOSEF ADALIANIt's Showtime for "Big Brother."
The CBS summer staple is expanding in a big way for its eighth season, with the Eye planning to launch a spinoff series on one of its cable nets.

"Big Brother: After Dark" will feature a live, unedited feed from the "Big Brother" house. Skein will run three hours nightly from midnight until 3 a.m. ET/PT on ShoToo, Showtime's widely available companion net.

Because there are so many cameras in the house capturing multiple storylines, an online producer will decide which cameras auds will see. Profanity and nudity will be allowed, but the feed will be interrupted if houseguests say anything slanderous or that violates music copyrights.

Because "Big Brother" originates from Los Angeles, the feed viewers see will feature activity taking place between 9 p.m. and midnight.

"That's primetime for the 'Big Brother' house," said exec producer-showrunner Allison Grodner. "It's when our houseguests are most wide awake and having fun, talking about strategy and playing the game. People are going to see quite a bit."

New extension of "Big Brother" will premiere July 5, the same night as the CBS version of the skein. CBS will once again run "Brother" three nights a week: Thursdays and Sundays at 8 p.m. and Tuesdays at 9.

Scheduling means the Eye's new low-rated "Pirate Master" will move to a new timeslot. "Pirate Master" will receive a special one-night airing after the "Big Brother" bow, then shift on July 10 to Tuesdays at 10 (where it once again will benefit from a "Big" lead-in).

Addition of "After Dark" continues the Eye's efforts to turn the "Big Brother" brand into as much of a multiplatform experience as possible:

Live feeds from inside the house will continue to be streamed via the Internet. Eye is partnering again with RealNetworks, which will charge $14.99 per month for the feed.

"House Calls," the Internet talk strip devoted to "Big Brother" will be back for its fourth season. Gretchen Massey will host.

Full-length episodes of the show will be streamed via the CBS Audience Network to multiple Web sites. Eye will also let users post selected clips to blogs.

Eye will offer several mobile-phone packages packed with "Big Brother" content, including one in which subscribers can get breaking news of major developments inside the house.
Grodner and Rich Meehan are the exec producers of "Big Brother" and produce in association with Endemol USA.

(As in past years, to preserve the drama for BIG BROTHER 8 television viewers, CBS may block or delay the webcast for a limited number of real-time events that transpire in the house.)

BIG BROTHER 8 Mobile:

Last year's All-Star edition was the first season that supplied around-the-clock updates from inside the BIG BROTHER house to CBS's mobile subscribers.  Once again, CBS will offer its mobile subscribers a unique look into the world of the Houseguests competing in BIG BROTHER 8:

•   BIG BROTHER MOBILE PACK:  For the mobile subscription package, special producers will be monitoring the action inside the house around the clock to keep fans in the know with video clips, photos, live breaking house alerts and daily insider summaries sent straight to their cell phones.  Additionally, fans will be able to download exclusive made-for-mobile wallpapers and ringtones from their favorite Houseguests at CBSmobile.com. The service will be available on most major wireless carriers and fans will be able to subscribe via CBSmobile.com and on-air callouts during BIG BROTHER 8.

•   AMERICA'S VOTE: Throughout the season, fans will have the opportunity to cast votes that will impact certain scenarios inside the house.  Cell phone subscribers can send in their votes via text message on most major wireless carriers.

•   AMERICA WINS ON BIG BROTHER: Each week, fans will have the opportunity to win $10,000 by answering a Big Brother trivia question.

•   Finally, CBS will provide substantial numbers of mobile video clips from Big Brother on major carriers.

Additional BIG BROTHER 8 Online elements include:

•   HOUSE CALLS: THE BIG BROTHER TALK SHOW, the no-charge, half-hour, streaming video talk show, returns for its fourth season with broadcasts every Monday through Friday (1:00 PM/ET, 10:00 AM/PT) on CBS.com.

HOUSE CALLS is hosted by radio personality Gretchen Massey.  Massey will interact with viewers through phone calls and e-mails, discuss events that transpire in the Big Brother house, offer prognostications, analyze strategies and interview former "Big Brother" Houseguests as well as current Houseguests following their eviction.

•   The BIG BROTHER 8 website on CBS.com will include detailed summaries of all the events that happen during each televised broadcast; a live 24/7 chat room; popularity and opinion polls; a virtual tour of the BIG BROTHER house; descriptions of the week's challenges; voting history pages; photo galleries; and a houseguest section with complete profiles.

•   "HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD BLOG" returns for its second season in which fans will be able to hear straight from the Head of Household about life in the BIG BROTHER house, what it is like to be under the constant gaze of dozens of cameras and watched live on the Internet 24/7.

BIG BROTHER 8 will follow the relationships and conflicts of players who live together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day.  One by one, the houseguests will vote each other out of the house.  At the end of three months, the last remaining houseguest will receive the grand prize.

Hold on there a second.  I don't want to be nit-picky, but the blog is returning for it's THIRD season.  Big Brother 6 and 7 had a HOH blog.  In this eighth season, it would be the third summer season.
