I agree that it was better when a song that is more suited to the contestant can be sung.  That being said, I wonder if Blake had any leeway to "make that song his own".  He would never record that song as written.  I was really surprised that he didn't try to "hip" it up, rap, beat box, something.  Ballads are definitely not his strong point.  One of our local radio guys has said from the beginning of the season, that a girl would win.  He has really complex conspiracy theories.  If the producers told Blake to sing that song as written and not try to put any kind of spin on it, then Hmmmm.


Wonder too if that song was selected on specualation of a Melinda/Jordin finale.  Battle of the divas.

Too bad for Blake.  It was a rough night.  He's my fave too!!

Newsflash people, no they don't pick a single for the benefit of one contestant. Every single year it has been a cheesy ballad and only once have there been two different winner's singles at that was last year. And even then they both sucked. Both are going to be successful with the right material.

I am not sure any song would be good for Blake. All his songs sound the same. He should have gone before Lakisha - and it wouldn't take too much to convince me she should have gone before Phil.

for some reason I could have sworn Blake sang Gym Class Heroes - Cupid's Chokehold....but then again prob cause its a wicked song for him to sing that could be why...u should listen to the song (ie download shhhhhhhh)
