There are two airports on either side of ARUSHA. One is ARK, the small airport pictured in your post. The other is JRO, Kilimanjaro International Airport, which wasn't there when I was a travel agent (and may not have been there when you last traveled in that area) since it was built in the late 1990s. JRO is modern and beautiful from what I understand from my research.

But I was travelling on about a dollar a day so no planes for me!

EPISODE 7 FLIGHT INFO
Here are my best reconstrucions of the flights that all teams took from Zanzibar to Warsaw. There was an extended 36 hour rest stop confirmed by a clock in Kilimanjaro International Airport. All flights in Africa and to Europe were on Tuesday Dec. 5 except for the one taken by E/D and J/B out of JRO. All Europe flights were on Wed. Dec. 6.
