EP8:" He Can't Swim but He Can Eat Cow Lip's !"
Kogs:
can this be our insane oral challenge, or was that the fisheyes from ep1?
puddin:
I thought the insane oral challenge was in Kuwait trying to get directions? James cracked me up :lol3: ! He was like I didn't get it all he said was " blah blah blah blah blah blah.."
more on the cow lips dish, since its Indonsian
Despite the island's proximity to southern Africa, some anthropologists believe it was ethnic Indonesians who first settled Madagascar 1500-2000 years ago. The language of Madagascar, called Malagasy, can be traced back to Indonesia where it most closely resembles the modern Malayo-Polynesian language of Ma'anyan, which is spoken by people in the Barito Valley of southern Borneo.

This has to be Mary! Remember her "water over your head--fall in an' your dead!" which I believe was in reference to David's being afraid of water because he could not swim very well.
On the other hand, yuck! It would be hard to believe that in this age of serious health concerns related to Mad Cow Disease ,that TPTB would have the teams eating cow's lips??!! even if it is some local delicacy...
Maybe this is a detour choice? Swimming vs. eating?
And if this is David and Mary, and they are still around, do you think that Episode 7 is more likely to be a NEL?
Slowhatch:
I don't doubt that it's Madagascar, I'm just having trouble connecting it with cow lips. Google is no help; the only reference I could find was this NYT article:
--- Quote ---Cow lips, which sell for 58 cents a pound, for the most part are shipped to Mexico, where they are shredded, spiced, grilled and used for taco filling.
--- End quote ---
(The full article--not for the squeamish--is here).

Who knew?
Guess I could go get some beef ox lips to try right here in town! Sounds like that place might do serious harm to my semi-vegetarian mind!
