Anyone seen this new promo? Roadblock called 'tubing?' with Jaymes/James starting it in 5th place.
I assume tubing is the stewed papaya with clams that was spoiled along with the picture of Caitlyn/Brit in timeline spoiler thread.

So exciting to see the vids and pics coming out

So 2 roadbloacks this leg?
I assume the Yuanshen sports center is where the table tennis roadblock must have occured.

Actually, I like the idea of both team members having to do a roadblock in the first leg. Given that for the first time there is a possible $2mil if they win the first leg (and the final one). So the team that wins has to show that both competitors are strong.

Double prize, double effort, seems logical.

So we have Chippandales, Brittany & Caitlin and Amy & Daniel head to head doing the RB...

I'll add that a very surprising team will miss being eliminated by JUST seconds....

There's a somewhat suspenseful finish to the first leg. Were you surprised at what happened?
Keoghan: I was really surprised. The thing about Amazing Race is that the teams don't realize that one decision about letting something go or trying to be nice at some point can come back and sting you. You have to just focus on racing and race smart and be careful about ever giving up anything. All I can say is, every single one of them says, "Man, we used to yell at the screen and say, 'Why are they doing this?' But when we come on, we realized it's not as easy as it looks.'"

Someone also doesn't read a clue properly. How can teams still do this after 21 seasons?
Keoghan: I know! Honestly, I think people underestimate how much jet lag is playing into bad decisions. People stop thinking when they're under pressure. This is all happening at a million miles per hour - 12 shows in 21 days. It was faster than the last season and the last season was crazy-fast. I think people think because the show airs week to week, there's this big space between legs, like we're all resting and hanging out for seven days, but we literally do not stop. You're going to see some very smart people make some very dumb mistakes.

How dumb? Missing you at the Pit Stop dumb?
Keoghan: [Laughs] Just mistakes they would not ordinarily make if they were not so tired and so out of it. It's part of what makes the Race work. If we did have a week between legs, it would be a completely different show. There are definitely fatal mistakes, not just one, but a number of multiple fatal mistakes. ... You're gonna see, literally, in one episode two teams racing for last place. There's an intersection where they can go left or go right to get to the Pit Stop. They're in a mode of transportation where they're side-by-side yelling at each other. One team goes left, one goes right. One stays and one doesn't. They were within seconds of arriving on the mat.

This seems to happen on premiers of seasons where the season number is a multiple of 7.
Season 7: Ron+Kelly vs Ryan+Chuck
Season 14: Christie+Jodi vs Preston+Jennifer
Season 21: ?

What a coincidence! Haha.

The Pit Stop that is located in front of a point where you have to choose left or right is really cool.

All in all, I'm loving that there will be some touch by suspense, it really adds magic to TAR <3

Spoilers in a spoiler forum warning!
I'm only getting the location of abacus girl from that single photo we have (based on the buildings across the river) and it may not be 100% precise, but assuming the error isn't too great the team that turns right/south beats the team that turns left/north.

Table tennis, as in the leg 11 of TAR1 (Detour's choice "Volley").

(Just as a reminder of that Detour: "Teams who choose Volley has to play ping-pong in this communiy center. The location is nearby, but teams would have to score five points against a local  champion.")

On a different note, for the second season in a row Phil felt the need to explain the concept of competition: "The fact is, I will be eliminating most of you."

No, Phil has used that phrase in the past, most famously in the opening credits of the first season, and he using that phrase rather than mention "elimination points." I think the door is being left open for the no-rest pit stop with the way Phil is now describing how the course is structured.

Did anyone find this season opener a little... unpolished? From the deliberately hippie un-epic music from the start, to the ping pong graphics (which I also found unprofessional in the TAR 15 opener) to the un-awe-inspiring tasks? It felt as if production was just following through with the motions without putting too much effort into planning.

From the pictures I found, Fala Chen does look like the pit stop greeter but I can't tell for sure if it's a match or not. Wikipedia says that Fala Chen moved to the US at the age of 14 and graduated from college in Georgia at the age of 23. The pit stop greeter spoke English with an accent (chinese or Hong Kong?). I would tend to think with that much time spent in the US that she would have more of an American accent. I lean towards the pit stop greeter not being Fala Chen, but it wouldn't shock me if it was her.

No, it's not Chen Fala. Amazing Race can't afford to hire her I think.

Anyway, idea for TAR producers if you're reading this!! Make the first place team have a choice to choose what they want to win next season... a CHANCE for 2 million dollars, or CASH PRIZE of 20,000 (or more!!) for the team but the 2 million dollars deal won't be applicable.

What do you all think about this? If I know my chances are small and I won the first leg by chance.. i'll take the money... Ego teams like Eric and Jeremy will probably go for 2 million.

Could the Pit Stop greeter possibly be Fala Chen?

From the pictures I found, Fala Chen does look like the pit stop greeter but I can't tell for sure if it's a match or not. Wikipedia says that Fala Chen moved to the US at the age of 14 and graduated from college in Georgia at the age of 23. The pit stop greeter spoke English with an accent (chinese or Hong Kong?). I would tend to think with that much time spent in the US that she would have more of an American accent. I lean towards the pit stop greeter not being Fala Chen, but it wouldn't shock me if it was her.

I don't know her real name. Her Weibo account is 龙女同学. She is a new actress that few people know by now

Yes, quite a few on the internet have said that.  Not sure if it's because they have got lazy after so many seasons and have taken the audience for granted.

The whole 'double your money' twist seems pointless to me.  Maybe it's because I'm not part of the American culture but I don't really even care what money they win.  I just want good tasks and locations and an exciting race.  It's not like I end up winning 2 million dollars lol.  It isn't like something such as 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' which is based all around the prize money, The Amazing Race is based around the RACE.

I'm confused. If you took the $20,000 (or more), would that mean you stop racing. Why would you choose that?!! Am I just reading this wrong?

No, you either choose to take $20,000 and if you win only get 1 million, or you get two million if you win but no monetary prize.

It looks like what happened on TAR-Australia S2E1  I may choose the latter.

'Only get one million'  :D  Surely most people would go on a race around the world for a lot less than that.  It doesn't even last that long anyway.  I also guess many who go on it are fans of the show, want media exposure, like the competitive aspect and the travelling through different countries.  I think the real perspective of this race has been lost.
