I think I might found something interesting. The detour (?) task with dancing might took place in Zielona Brama (the Green Gate Museum) Just between the end of Długa Street (where the Neptune statue is) and Motlawa River (by which we see the U-Turn box). Found some pictures of the inside so take a look and let me know if it may be there:

The old town hall we want is called "Ratusz Starego Miasta". (not to be confused with the other, larger "old town hall" which pops up on searches.)  This one is much smaller.

Distance wise it would make sense if the Detour Decision was at the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers? That would mean one side of the Detour is closer to the Detour Decision, and the other closer to the W-Turn.

was wondering if TAR visited the shipyard while in Gdansk.... (yes they were at the memorial)... but could the racers be near the shipyard in the picture below...  pipes are not the same, but similar... something you would find at the shipyard (see inset).  Just throwing this out there....

In the period of 2006-2010, BHP Hall, located in the post-industrial area once
belonging to the Gdańsk Shipyard, was extensively
renovated.

 

     In summer 2010, BHP Hall
opened to the public as a conference and exhibition centre. The renovation and
adaptation of the building was possible thanks to the great determination of
people involved, and thanks to the Trade Union’s own resources and the support
from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, as well as many other
donors. The anniversary exhibition THERE IS ONLY ONE “SOLIDARNOŚĆ” added
splendour to the ceremony of the historic BHP Hall reopening on August 24, 2010.
The exhibition, in a little different form, can be seen till
today.

 

     The one-storey part of the
building houses three exhibition halls, including two designed for conferences
or video shows with their own sound systems and multi-media equipment. The
ground-floor rooms have a capacity of 300 people. On the first floor there are
two lecture rooms for 30 people each. They are fully equipped with the dedicated
state-of-the-art audio-visual system.

     We would like
BHP Hall, rooted in August 1980 Agreement, to attract people believing in the
broad idea of solidarity, which would let us proudly call it an open place,
through inspiring conferences and quality exhibitions.

still looks somewhere europe-y to me. how long were they in europe? or was it back-to-back like in season 19?
maybe it's only for the shot. when teams encountered it, it was moved somewhere else where there weren't so many people passing it by ...

I guess it's the same spot but in the picture the board is facing the Motlawa River and when the teams arrive there it's facing the old crane

Gdansk is where the longest residential building (in Europe) is found, known as the "falowiec" (wavy block).  Nearly a half mile long.  How could BVM pass up such a devious search challenge.  Try to find an address here!  Just throwing this out there, FWIW.

I think you may be right on that! I found a short polish documentary about this building and we can see the reporter coming in - for me it looks similar as the caps from the episode. (look form 2:58)

i beg to differ, I think they did the statue thingy after they did the dancing

u see, in the preview, ass-animals arrived at the U-Turn mat the first time with their dancing gear on. And in that moment one of them also said "we gotta u-turn someone"
and just to be clear, also in that moment, one slot of the U-turn board was utilized, and the second one was still null.

if an ipad was to be popped in there, there has to be something behind or near the board for power supply and maintenance and stuffs

i think they switch it back to using pictures because it would be more clear when the camera is taking a fast shot on the board, especially since the board was in open area. If they were using ipad, there should be a little refraction from the camera to the ipad screen possibly because of the sunlight, which will make the the records unfocused. The camera crew will have to take a moment to actually focus the camera and take a shot on the board, which will slow the team for a bit

and why HOLES were on the board, maybe so that the teams just attach the picture on that hole and get a move on. The previous version has teams to remove the sticker from the picture first and and then attach it to the board. this way it was a little bit longer and not efficient, I think.

I think someone will just have to attach a board (similar to bulletin boards, whiteboards, etc...) if a team will use a u-turn.

No, Detour is first. Amy was seen with her dancing costume at the RB. From what I believe, Tim/Marie used EP at the statue task so that's why they gained some time.

If you have twitter you shpould check out the exchange of tweets between Tim (@tim_sweeney_), Marie (@reebsicle), Amy (@TheRealAmyDiaz), and Jason (@JasonCase).  Pretty funny stuff.  They have been tweeting about Tim and Jason's polka dance together and Marie stealing the cab in the next episode for the last day or so! 

It seems like these 4 are good friends now...

Maybe they just weren't really great friends during the stress of the Race, most likely due to Marie's behavior.  But once both teams had a chance to calm down, maybe they found the whole cab thing funny.  There are times when people do things that don't seem so funny but later on, you may laugh at how serious the whole thing seemed when it really was very trivial.

But I'd find Tim & Jason's polka dance together rather funny as well.

The rose donut showed up in 8C/45, halfway down the list. Usually in TAR, when teams have to search a field/body of water/list of items, the goal is almost never first or last: teams would have better luck starting at 1/3 or 2/3. That's why (to me, anyway) the halfway point was surprising: if teams collaborate and split the playing field, one of the teams would score in short order.

I'm not sure if this should be in episode 3 or 5, but I'll put it here. My hat is off to an observant blogger who caught an editing game that occurred in Episode 3 in Lisbon and Episode 5 in Gdansk. According to the show footage, Nicky and Kim in Portugal and Tim and Danny in Gdansk had the exact same cab driver!

Look for the video about half way down the page for the comparison. The driver looks more Polish than Portuguese, so I suspect he was Tim and Danny's cab driver in Gdansk. I presume they liked his smile, so they edited him in when Nicky and Kim gave each other a small kiss in the cab.
