I doubt that either of those national parks were visited by AR20. The simple reason is distance. It is 800 km from San Luis, next to de las Quijadas National Park and from National Park Talampaya to Buenos Aires there is a distance of 1,200 kms (driving through the 9th highway from Pan American ramal Escobar to Cordoba, Carlos Paz Highway, Route 38 up to Patquía, route 150 to get to the Talampaya National Park and route 76. From the city of La Rioja, take Route 38 to Patquía then continue along the 150).

That's a bit much, even if all teams were routed that way from Cafayete on the return to Buenos Aires, which would add several hundred km.

I wish I had an alternative hypothesis on which rock formations are in the photos in question. I am working on it but don't have any right now.

The line of thinking above in this thread can lead only one place according to my speculation. That is for teams to go from Salta (once they get there in 98 miles from Cafayete) 488 miles to Asuncion, Paraguay. They could make a little detour to some of the scenic rock formations on the Argentina side of that border. That is OK, but how does that impact on other observations elsewhere in AR20?

The first one is time-related. I guess teams could fly to Asuncion connecting in Buenos Aires, but I think a lengthy bus ride is more likely. Teams released on Nov. 29 would not reach Asuncion until late on Nov. 30. They are likely to finish that leg on Dec. 1 (which coincides with when they were actually observed if I recall that right).

I had been wedded to the notion that teams finished a Buenos Aires leg BEFORE Asuncion, but in this scenario it is after. Teams would fly for speed, as it would be Dec. 2 that the Buenos Aires leg would be started. Some teams would not have been able to make the better flight from Asuncion to Buenos Aires.

After a Dec. 2/3 leg, teams would be ready to fly out of Buenos Aires to Europe on the evening of Dec. 3.

Teams would arrive early on Dec. 4 wherever in Europe. Time to get to Neuschwanstein Castle, do a leg and get to Torino would be extremely tight.

I have some extra transportation information about Salta to Asuncion. It takes a minimum of 12 hours to fly with the connection. The bus is 14 hours to Corrientes, then 5 hours from Corrientes to Asuncion.

apskip, the only problem with your hypothesis are the CBS program listings that are already available (including my cable provider's onscreen listings.) The episode listing for episode 2 says that the Race continues in Buenos Aries, and for episode three it says Paraguay.

As to a reference to "the border" for this coming episode being discussed above or in one of the related threads, a look at any map would show that Buenos Aries is on or close to the border with Uruguay, which as I recall was crossed by water ferry from near Montevideo in TAR 5, leg 2.

There are in fact 3 borders that are worth thinking about. West of Cafayete is the border with Chile. North and east is the border with Paraguay. There are 9 border crossings, all involving the Rio de La Plata or the Uruguay River, between Uruguay and Paraguay. However, there are no majestic mountains or plateaus anywhere near any of the Uruguay crossings. Majestic mountains will only be available near Chile or near Paraguay.

I admit that having CBS list Episode 2 as Buenos Aires indicates that that is where the next episode is. We have heard about an infamous 18 hour bus ride (I have thought prior to today that it was for sure Salta to Buenos Aires).

However, how do you explain the separate photos of 2 males that are somewhere in the pile of information available on AR20? I would truly like to know.

The "run for the border" stuff may be just CBS hot air. It looks like the donkey run is at Quebrada de Cafayate (also called Quebrada de las conchas) north of town on the road to Salta (photo source; click the second photo to enlarge). Also she was beaten down time after time during BB by Brendon and I think that is why she doesn't want to let him do it to her again. (At least that is my hope.) Brendon appears to be able to handle Rachel better than anyone else has.....and that's after two summers and two episodes of observations. I don't fault Brendon for how he deals with Rachel; he may not be quite like Zach, but then there are times Rachel is even worse than Flo. So I give him a break or two.
