The roof line of the barn that everybody parks near is 22 degrees west of north from this
satellite image.
The sun is sometimes blocked by clouds on the day of this first leg. Fortunately, when the Godlewski sisters arrive at the barn there is enough sun light to cast a shadow. The peak of the barn’s roof does this against the front wall of the barn. Using some trig I figured out that (there’s a lot visual estimating going on for this part) the time was 2:05 pm. Similarly, when the Linz Team arrives there we have enough sunlight to make an estimate that the time of day was 2:46 pm. Add a couple minutes for getting to the mat and these are my estimates:
Godlewski 2:07 pm
Linz 2:48 pm
I really don’t think the Blacks arrived close to the Linz Team (editing: there is sun, there is no sun, there is sun …).
And the Paulos getting out of their SUV was a retake later in the day.
