Yea, that it the Rohrer Family Farmhouse.  We saw Phil come through there.

BTW, Puddin, the Rohrer place is not in Mt Joy.  That was where the Detour was.  But its not far away either.

I'll fix it Chateau  :cheeky:

this from an article way back when

Fans will see just as many of those pesky "roadblocks" and "detours," while "yields," which force one team to stop racing for a period of time, "are more effective and more frustrating to people than (they've) ever been."
The kid-friendly contest, which includes fewer non-elimination episodes, did require certain concessions: Over the 30-day race, filmed mostly in July, teams traveled 30,000 miles, far less than the 72,000 traversed by teams on the sixth season. And more family-friendly, less-crowded locales were chosen.

I thought I heard 5. I'm impressed with all the silence they've accomplished; families with kids, hundreds of Civil War "extras," and nobody has talked.

Thanks for the link to the preview.

Are they going to be able perform the battlefield detour and the Washington roadblock all in the same day?

Chateau, Can you tell by the shadows of the people the approximate times?

If the teams are leaving the farm pitstop in daylight, does this hint that the pit stop lasts for 24 hours and not just 12? Most teams arrived by mid afternoon (between 3 and 4) which would mean they would leave at 3 or 4 in the morning.

But, on the other hand, if they did not leave until 3 or 4 in the afternoon, they would have a lot to get done in Gettysburg, and Washington DC before it gets dark around 8:30PM. Perhaps the pit stop is a new compromised 18 hours so that the teams would start to leave for the Shoe House at about 9:00AM.

If the Detour is at Gettysburg it looks like one task has to do with picking up five wounded soldiers, while another task (Weavers) may have something to do with flags (they are walking down road with flag) This may be difficult for the Gaghans so they may opt for the flag chore also.  One shot seems to show the little girl heading toward a flagstaf of some sort.

In Washington it looks like the clue box is up near the capitol building, then the roadblock is to find someone with a similar briefcase and make the exchange which occurs down near the Lincoln monument (that's a pretty far walk from one end of the mall to the other)

Question: is there a pitstop in Washington DC or do they head to Reagan National Airport and catch a flight to Charleston, SC???

Oh your good  Gman , I was thinking the Flag the Weavers are running with had something to do with the Soldiers . Any guesses as to what the detour Tasks will be named ?

For getting the times lets start with: it’s about 1 hour 55 min from Belmont Plateau to Brubaker Farms.

And about 25 min from Brubaker Farms to the Ruhrer Family Farm.

Note that since the Brubaker place is on the East side of Musser Road those teams that took a right were going the long way.  They probably thought they had to go back into central Lancaster.

So if you say the detour took the Gaghans 90 min (that's 1 mph buggy pushing) we can expect their check-in time to be about 1:50 pm.  I would guess that the Linz Team took 15 min longer to push the buggy and since they started from Belmont Plateau one hour later their check-in time should be about 3:05 pm.

The Godlewski sisters rocked with the build-it part of the detour since they left Belmont Plateau one hour after the Gaghans but finished the leg first.

Quote
DAY 2, 10 AM
Spoiler alert!
For the first detour, on a scenic farm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the teams must choose between hauling an Amish buggy along a 16-mile route or assembling a minibarn with a waterwheel. The Weavers arrive and go for the buggies, but later change their minds, the buggies weight 500 pounds. The Aiellos go for the buggies, "Oh, it's brutal" says Matt.
Van Munster wants to observe the buggy race more closely. "I need to know every detail" he says. "I'm going to follow them into the corn," The Gaghans, who have tow small kids, also choose the buggies. Think they can't hack it? (Hint: Even 9-year-old Carissa runs a seven-minute mile) The kids sing a victory song as they barrel past a stronger team, with mom Tammy effortlessly hauling the buggy. "She's an animal!" van Munster shouts. The teams collect their next clue: Off to the Pit Stop.

3 PM
After the teams finish the leg, Keoghan says he realizes another way this may differ from the past: "I expect it will be the most emotional Pit Stops we've ever had. I know that I'm going to be kicking kids off," Coexecutive producer Hayma "Screech" Washington adds, "You don't have to get out of the country to have a great event. That whole Washington Crossing thing? It was good. You feel like you stepped back in history. And we have a lot more of that coming up... but I can't tell you what." Be sure to bring the kids.

thanks to puddin's scan
according to TV Guide, last team checked in around 3 PM
and Phil gave away the eliminated team: a team with kids.  }}

For our time line masters:

According to Google map it is 27 minutes from the farm to the Shoe House in York, PA. So it would make more sense to go to the Shoe House first and then down route 30 to Gettysburg.

If the actual reenactment was done the previous weekend (July 1-3) perhaps CBS shot the master overview scenes and the aerials at that time, and then just have a lesser number of participants coming back the following weekend.  Most Civil War Enacters are dedicated souls, but they all have regular jobs to pay the bills, so I don't think many of them could hang around or take more time off to come back.  But CBS has DEEP DEEP POCKETS so perhaps they made it worth their while.

Next map we need is from Gettysburg to Washinton DC

The clue box looks like it is at the capitol end of the Mall (4th Street) while the walk around is down at the Lincoln Memorial (24th street) That's more than a good miles hike!

Using a Lat Long of (40.008,-76.4), a date of  7/8/05 and this site.

The roof line of the barn that everybody parks near is 22 degrees west of north from this satellite image.

The sun is sometimes blocked by clouds on the day of this first leg.  Fortunately, when the Godlewski sisters arrive at the barn there is enough sun light to cast a shadow.  The peak of the barn’s roof does this against the front wall of the barn.  Using some trig I figured out that (there’s a lot visual estimating going on for this part) the time was 2:05 pm.  Similarly, when the Linz Team arrives there we have enough sunlight to make an estimate that the time of day was 2:46 pm.  Add a couple minutes for getting to the mat and these are my estimates:

Godlewski    2:07 pm
Linz   2:48 pm

I really don’t think the Blacks arrived close to the Linz Team (editing:  there is sun, there is no sun, there is sun …).

And the Paulos getting out of their SUV was a retake later in the day.
