Hi everyone,
I am new here. I was wondering something that occured and puzzled me.
I don't understand why on the last show that the competitors had to wait 8 hours for the next flight to South Africa. Why can't these supposedly smart people not call a travel agency or airline to see if they can drive to another city or district that has an earlier connection. Why this strategy isn't used is beyond me. Why would they limit theirselves to just one city or airport unless there isn't any other city within a couple of hours drive. Maybe its against the rule books to call a travel agency or airline. Can anyone figure out why these types of common sense strategies aren't being used. Maybe they(producers of the show) don't want to have film crew in multiple countries at a time so they purposely limit the competitors to just one flight that enables everyone else to catch up. I guess the best strategy is not to fall at the back of the pack because until the last leg coming first means very little.
First of all, _^% to the boards..
now, unless I'm completely answering the wrong questions, they were in Buenos Aires at Ezeiza International Airport. Its hard to get out of Argentina without leaving through this airport and most flights have a connecting flight in Brazil (Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, etc.).
The racers are allowed to go to Travel Agencies and many of them do (Kris and Jon, Colin and Christie, and a lot of other successful teams). That flight was the only flight to South Africa that day and Ray and Deana even asked if there were any flights that left earlier and the guy said no. I just think flights to other continents from South Africa is rare.
I'm not very knowledgable (<-- don't even know how to spell that) but i'm sure someone else can answer your question
