We return to kemari chaos as Jon asks if Ana wants to leave. Jack is struggling. Ana is getting the hang of it and completes it! They win the Express Pass!!! Ana cannot believe it while Carson & Jack leave 2nd. Jon & Ana are 3rd.

Han & Holden sprinting up the escalator to board the 6th train to Kyoto. Alyssa & Josiah are at the RB and Josiah rushes through it easy breezy. They leave in 4th.

Scott & Lori arrive at the clue box. DETOUR: Fold It or Fling It.
In Fold It, teams must build a giant origami crane with an enormous sheet of paper. In Fling It, teams must use spikes, throwing stars, and a blowgun to aim for accuracy.

Scott & Lori choose Fling It! "Bulldoze Center" - Bernie and Carrigain will want to choose it.

Erika tells Melinda not to run so hard if her legs are shaking. Courtney & Jasmin are right behind buying paper.

Pops kicks the ball super far away! Carson & Jack choose Fling. Jon & Ana also Fling.

Pops is closing in on the RB and finishes the kemari.

Bernie & Carrigain are searching for the paper while Nick & Mike and Brett & Mark are power walking into the temple. Courtney & Jasmin get to the water. Vegas and New York boys also dip the paper to reveal the shrine clue. "Super glad we kept our taxi."- Nick & Mike.

Courtney & Jasmin's paper is drying up.

"We're going to move with urgency and purpose until our dying breath" - Han, unofficial title quote in my opinion. Brett & Mark and Nick & Mike leaving in their taxis to the shrine.

"Why don't we ask the bus driver?"/"We gotta write it down 'cause it dried."/Bus drives away. "I couldn't even ask him. Oh man." - Courtney & Jasmin

Fling it reminds me of TAR 2/3 RB task in Malaysia. Either way both tasks of the detour are gonna be brutal

We return to Courtney & Jasmin shenanigans as they are calling for a taxi now with no luck again.

Scott & Lori reach the cultural center. They get to dress up as ninjas. "Let's do this for our boys." - Scott.

Teams must hit each target with three stars, three blowdart attempts, and three spikes each as teammates.

Melinda & Erika reach the kemari RB with Erika getting it done really quickly - currently in 6th.

Courtney & Jasmin finally find a taxi!

Alyssa & Josiah choose the ninja tools. Scott & Lori are worried and plan to switch if they can't get it. Carson & Jack feel in their environment with the ninja getup. Jack started with the spikes and threw 8 of them in a row and none of them stuck.

Jon became a child again seeing the ninjas. Scott & Lori switch to the origami with Lori justifying the spikes were too difficult. Carson & Jack move onto practicing the spikes. Scott & Lori leave for the paper cranes and are watching a demo.

Lori is shocked by the size of the paper. Oh, I love this task. Already a classic. Scott & Lori reveal communication was key in this side of the task.

Nick & Mike at kemari and finish in 7th. Melinda & Erika choose Fold It. Jeff 2x are right behind and the mom and daughter work together to show them where the next location is and where the clue box was.

Brett & Mark at the kemari and leave in 8th after Brett finishes up. Bernie & Carrigain right behind in 9th at the kemari. Carri offered to do the RB, but unfortunately is clumsy.

Carson & Jack are going for the ninja judging area. Jon & Ana switch as the tools were too tricky to stick.

DnD end up switching because it's too hard. "Everyone's switching." - Alyssa. Alyssa & Josiah are going for it while Alyssa says she loves playing darts.

Carson's memory of him with a bowl cut and folding paper cranes comes flooding back. Scott & Lori are struggling with the instructions.

Han & Holden reach the omikuji paper station and are heading to the shrine asap.

Courtney & Jasmin reach the RB in 10th and Courtney does the task. They have little experience in sports.

Nick & Mike choose the Fling Detour in 7th.

Ana says her eldest daughter loves origami and plans to make her proud. They are already bickering.

Melinda & Erika and Jeff 2x reach the origami. Scott & Lori realize they are folding it backwards.

Brett & Mark choose the origami as well. Alyssa & Josiah are struggling while Nick & Mike arrive at the ninja stations. Alyssa doesn't know how difficult the actual test area is after the practice targets.

Courtney and Carrigain both struggling a bit with over-kicking. Courtney launches the ball into the trees and throws a hissy fit. Han & Holden reach the RB with Holden doing it. He brags about playing divisional soccer and quickly surpasses the nurses and Carri in 9th. Bernie is sick to her stomach.

Holden wants to keep the faith and keep pushing as they speed off in their taxi. Carrigain gets the five passes and leaves in 10th with Bernie. "You got this Courtney, don't you give up."- Jasmin. Courtney is looking dejected.

Scott & Lori finish their folding and the crane is being judged by the kids. They pass! "Don't worry about anyone us, but us." - Erika. Rich coming from them.

ROUTE INFO: Pit Stop! Konkai Komyo-Ji Temple. Last team to check in WILL be eliminated.

Brett & Mark arrive at the origami and watch the demo alongside Jeff 2x and the mom and daughter duo. Carson & Jack finish the crane and leave in 2nd.

Jon says Ana should pick the Detours.

Scott & Lori and DnD are both in their taxis. Lori can't believe she is saying they think they are team number one.

Alyssa & Josiah go for the test runs at the ninjas and fail miserably at the spikes. Alyssa is a competitor at heart and Josiah says she doesn't like to half-a** anything.

Melinda & Erika are getting the fold steadily while Brett & Mark are arguing a bit. Jeff 2x can't get the folds down.

Carson & Jack vs. Scott & Lori for the Pit Stop! "Trunk trunk" - Lori. Jack thinks they made the right decision to switch Detours. Scott & Lori and DnD are both running on the grounds of the temple to find Phil.

Scott & Lori arrive 1ST and Carson & Jack arrive 2ND on the mat!!! Scott & Lori win $5,000 as the winners of this leg of the race!

We come back to Alyssa & Josiah trying to motivate each other at the Detour. It's attempt 22 for them. Nick got the spikes down and are doing their first attempt at the judging counter. They fail.

Alyssa & Josiah end up switching and are swallowing their pride. Vegas don't feel confident in their folding and arguing right behind Melinda & Erika.

Meanwhile, Alyssa & Josiah ask if there are teams behind to Brett & Mark. Bernie & Carrigain, Han & Holden, and Courtney & Jasmin.

At the kemari, Courtney finally gets all 5 kicks! "Courtney, you did it." - Jasmin. Courtney is in absolute tears of joy. They leave in last.

Courtney pours it out that her mother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and dropped everything to rush to her aid. They want to keep moving forward for her mother.

Jon & Ana reach the Pit Stop! They are TEAM NUMBER THREE! Ana shows off the Express Pass. "All in all, it's a good day." - Jon.

Han & Holden arrive at the origami. Alyssa & Josiah say they can keep going back and forth to check their work rather than have it 100% perfect unlike the ninja stars.

Bernie & Carrigain arrive at the Detour clue. They choose Fling.

Nick & Mike are struggling and now meditating to calm down. Nick reveals he was assaulted where his mouth became surgically shut and this is how they deal with adversities in their life.

Melinda & Erika call for a check on their crane. Alyssa & Josiah struggling. Mel & Erika and Brett & Mark are both approved in 4th and 5th. Jeff 2x then get theirs approved in 6th.

Kinda cool that almost everyone just went directly to fling it for how cool it is, yet most who chose that first, already swapped to origami, some with less suffering, some with more.
