Nice to see second season. We also saw Race Around The World Finland, but it flopped.

I think they have made many improvements, or at least I am hopeful. The same observations and need for improvements discussed in this forum have been talked a lot in Finnish media.

Season 2 Cast - Thoughts

Pictures also here: https://www.is.fi/viihde/art-2000010442071.html
and here: https://www.iltalehti.fi/tv-ja-leffat/a/f6d9b4d1-c327-4b9f-8332-a5593dab22d4

Mikko Kekäläinen ja Mervi Levänen - Godson, godmother
Fine. Mikko has very good public image as a positive and supportive person. I hope it will stay the same ...

Middle-aged team, which I like, but I hope they can keep it up with others.

Tinni Wikström ja Antti Savinainen - Friends
Tinni is annoying and this will be my least favourite team. I think they will be one of the first teams to get eliminated.

Leea Klemola ja Kaarina Hazard - Friends
Older women team, nice! It would be interesting, if they could stay in the race as long as possible, but can they keep up the pace? Deeper thinkers of this cast.

Paulus Arajuuri ja Adeliina Arajuuri - Siblings
Paulus has a lovely personality and I bet he has MANY skills. I think they could make it to TOP-4. Paulus is Finland's sweetheart.

Jani Sievinen ja Maria Nyqvist - Couple
Competitive and though middle-aged, I imagine they both have strong stamina and physique. Well-travelled. Could surprise us and end up in TOP-4?

Hanna Launonen ja Metti Forssell - Friends
Mm ... Metti is footballer's wife. That's great I guess ... Well, Metti is well-mannered and calm, let's see how she is in this show.

Mimosa Willamo ja Patrick Willamo - Daughter&Father
Don't know much about them. Would love to root for daughter&father-team, but it was weird that their info tells that they have never travelled together and that eating tasks might be difficult, since they are both vegetarians.

That doesn't tell you a lot, while Metti and her friend were introduced like this: They want to test their own limits. They have deep connection and trust with each other, they know each others strengths. Metti admires Hanna's sportiness and Hanna values Metti's intelligence and determination.

And ... Mimosa and Patric don't eat meat, which I guess is also a nice personality type and valuable information for the viewers ...

Deogracias ”Gracias” Masomi ja Jeremie Malolo - Friends
I think they will end up in TOP-4, but they might easily make crucial mistakes, which might cost them the race.

Aku Sipola ja Wille Komulainen - Friends
Potential fan favourites, but hard to say anything about them yet. TOP-5?

Elias Aalto ja Matias Pietilä - Brothers
I think they might be interesting, since they probably will take risks and have complex talents which will come in handy. Also, they might be good for TV, since they might argue like brothers and don't hold back their opinions.

Tuure Boelius ja Saana Boelius - Siblings
I think this team, Team Tinni or Team Older Women will be one of the first ones to get eliminated.

Now get this ... Only one romantic couple? And actually I don't mind :D But maybe 1-2 more romantic teams could have been interesting, one dating or newly-wed and one older couple with children.

Favourites - Before the show started
1. Paulus&Sister

Not interested
Team Tinni. Team Tuure.

All in all, the cast seems to be okay. Now the interesting thing will be, which continent will they conquer this year? Are they going to do combinations?

I have a feeling, that this year they will spend a little bit more time in Europe and then they will head to Asia or Africa. Maybe even Latin America?

If they decide to go straight back to Asia as they did in last season, they better go to India and end up in Australia and/or New Zealand for many episodes, to make things interesting. Viewers were complaining, because they spent the whole season in Asia last time.

If they do another season in Asia and not combine it with Europe or Oceania, people will be annoyed.

Yeah. Last season was all SE Asia and largely mirrored TAR Asia 5's tasks, they were clearly in contact with the producers of that version. Hopeful for a wider route this time.

Delighted to hear the news that TAR Finland has been renewed for a second season! The more filmings of TAR the better!

The TAR Detectives are extremely busy at the moment trying to find US & Australia spoilers (now let's add in Finnish spoilers as well) and have only just finished Canadian spoilers!

Can't wait to see what destinations TAR Finland has in store for us this season and it's good to see no hypocritical Green politicians have been casted this season!  :clap2:

What's the name of the square/park where the teams of this season started?

Really excited to see where they are going this season!  :woohoo:
Will they go to the US or will they travel to a European destination for the first leg of the race? Or will they go to Japan or South Korea?

Could TAR Suomi be visiting the US this season? The only direct flights from the Americas to Helsinki, with Finnair, is Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Seattle. Although there's also direct flight from Iceland to Helsinki with Finnair.

Maybe, but I feel like we would have heard about it from people assuming it was the US race.

Season 2 started! The first episode was good, I actually liked it better than the premiere of first season.

All of the pairs seem good so far, I like all of them. Metti seems uptight, but she is also entertaining.

Tasks were good enough and not too easy. And it was great, that the positions of the teams changed during the episode.

Paulus&Adelina for the win!

Some points from the Finnish news.

https://www.is.fi/viihde/art-2000010744050.html
"Amazing Race start got mixed reviews". Viewers have mixed feelings about the cast and pacing, but they like that there is more navigating with public transport. Metti is not a fan-fave.

In general spectators are pleased, but they think that the episodes are too long.

https://www.is.fi/tv-ja-elokuvat/art-2000010730127.html
"Teams break important rule"

Basicly, the producers advice teams not to run all the time, if the heat is too strong.

The producers have also heard critisism from last year, when they were only in Southeast Asia. They have also noticed feedback regarding the tasks, and there shouldn't be as much dancing this season.

So, that sounds promising, even though they did dance in the first episode once again, but I guess it was fine - for now. I also hope they don't have over 3 eating tasks, enough is enough.

I wouldn't say that Finland's first outing was the best, but I was happy to see it return.

Episode 1

They're sticking to the time differences after airports, but the use of public transportation in Krakow did shake that up. The Roadblock ended up being a bit brutal with one team taking 100 minutes to finish it. The Express Pass was introduced, and there was quite a competition among a few teams to win it. Paulus & Adeliina and Leea & Kaarina had a fun first impression.

Episode 2

This leg suffered from a very lopsided Detour. I don't know how anyone could finish the counting task since there were so many small statues. None of them got close. Surprisingly, the Roadblock ended being a slight equalizer. Even though it was the same task from TAR 27, these racers struggled more.

Not bad, I get good first impressions from pretty much every team. They seem energized and excited to be there, so hopefully they won't all COMPLETELY crash at the start of leg 3 like last season.

Episode 3, nice to see this country again after so long. I think this might be the most vegetarian/vegan teams on the same race at the same time, at least three of them were and balked at the Roadblock.

I tried so hard to find that first hotel after the flight, but I came up empty.

Episode 3

Episode 3, nice to see this country again after so long.

When I first found out that they might be going to Romania, it felt like such a treat since the country is so underused. The judge at the singing Detour had some brutal moments like saying how teams weren't singing Romanian at all or that some performances were as good as they could get. The Roadblock was not one for vegetarians. Elias & Matias also criticized the gymnastics judge for passing Metti & Hanna on what they viewed as an inferior performance.  :funny:

Show content
Nothing went well for Jani & Maria. First their cab driver takes them to the wrong statue, then they struggle at the Detour, and finally they quit the Roadblock.

Episode 4

The book task and Detour didn't play well to TV since it wasn't apparent to the viewer what was wrong. Gymnastics were last week, so Dracula was going to be this week. In all honesty, getting locked in a coffin would terrify me. The Super Legs continue their streak of having teams leave for medical reasons.

Episode 4

Nice episode, but sad to see one of my favorite teams to end the race. Dracula task was great, but it felt kinda low budget. I guess there's plenty of castles in Romania, Dracula book related, Bran Castle or some others if it was not possible to film at Bran's.

Incidents with taxi drivers in Romania have been interesting and eventful. I guess this will end in Colombia, I bet production is organizing their taxis over there.

Still liking all the teams, and kinda like even Metti. Metti makes things interesting, since she is a bit dramatic.

Episode 5

Good leg in Bogotá. Looks like Leg 4 was a planned NEL until the medivac with the inclusion of a Speed Bump this leg. Not sure why anyone would attempt the coffee bean task. Even still quite a few of the tasks this leg gave teams the opportunity for placement swaps. Also the director for the telenovela task was so extra to the point where Kaarina was giving it back.

Episode 6

Really entering the stretch reminiscent of TARLA 5 with the first full-length leg in Barranquilla. It's legs like this where the linear structure of the show especially is present. Doesn't help that there is a wide gap between the first three teams and the final three teams and no equalizers.

finamazing, do you know what "Viheliäät Vuorosanat" means? Google Translate can't make heads or tails of it.

It could mean something like "Measly lines/dialogue" but basicly "difficult 'pain in the ass' lines".

Episodes 6 & 7 were great again. Older, titan ladies, are great but Leea is cursing 24/7, which starts to be annoying. However, they are funny with their raunchy humour. "We were searching for Shakira's ass". If there were two older guys saying similar stuff they are saying and doing (like kissing the judges), media would point it out. Also low key racism from Leea on Episode 7 in the drums task. Leea said that they should go quickly, because the black dudes are on the task and they have the rhythm in them. Kaarina (the bigger one) looked like she gave her all, when she strolled to the castle hill and to the finish map at the end of episode 7 :D

I still like all the teams, Mimosa&Father are my least favourites. Paulus&Adelina are truly sweethearts, as was expected. I like Metti, and I think she still is the most entertaining and competitive. Though I hated how she acted towards the dogs in the episode 7. The brothers are nice, and I kinda like that even though they are making mistakes and they struggle at least with one task, they manage to stay on the top-3.

Colombia is so beautiful. I kinda wish they would go more to the nature, maybe in Panama?

Metti & Hanna's dominance in Colombia came to an end after losing their fanny pack and struggling with the drum task. The ever infamous sandcastle task made its return near where TARLA did it. Sad that it caused the elimination of Gracias & Jeremie.

Episode 8

Eight episodes in and there is finally an equalizer. Taboga Island was a fun new destination though I do not know why they returned to Panama City. Mimosa & Pati essentially got a free pass for the rest of the leg, and I'm curious about the time gap with the other four teams as the sun went down during the domino task. Also, placing the second Roadblock right next to the Pit only to send them down to the Biomuseo for one more task was a bit mean. It's disappointing that Leea & Kaarina did so well only to suffer with the taxis. Glad that they got another chance.

Great episode. Paulus and Ade are still adorable sweethearts. Mimosa's father is in good shape for a 55-year old. Metti and her minor meltdowns are still kinda entertaining.

I liked that this episode included many physical tasks. Sad to see titan ladies going home.

Got a physical end to the leg only to tell the teams to keep racing. While it was sad to lose Leea & Kaarina, they never had a chance considering they never saw another team.

Episode 10

I question the choice to have 2.5 legs in Panama City. They really leaned into Canada's Panama tasks with the drum major task being hard once again. Teams also saw both Panama signs in Leg 8, so no one went the wrong way when finding the Pit stop.

Season 2 has been nominated for three Golden Venlas (one more than last year).

I honestly can't decide if I'm liking this season better or worse than the first season. This one has a better route...but only slightly. That's two countries in a row with three legs in them. What is this, TAR Australia? Also, again just like the first season, everybody is WALKING everywhere. There's very little sense of urgency most of the time.

That was a weird interaction with the police. The dudes show up at the baseball task too early by accident, then get stopped by a police/security guard asking "Do you have permission to film here?" Um...Yes?? It's a task location, and it was clearly already set up as the bag drop sign was there and the baseball coach was waiting.

Episode 11

This was one of the more competitive legs with every team getting the opportunity to succeed or fail. Everyone was in first place at one point, which rarely happens for this show. Nice to see more of Costa Rica as it's been 10 years since the last visit. Not going to say much about the Speed Bump as it likely wasn't planned due to the second Romania leg. The Detour was a killer, so much so that Elias & Matias switched three times. This was one of the crazier finishes with a come from behind victory and a three-way foot race.

I was rooting for Paulus & Adeliina the most, but any team that wins will be satisfying.

Has there ever been a season where the final 3 teams are the only teams to finish top 3 every single legs?
It's impressive that the final 3 this season are the only one to do that, except for one time, when Gracias & Jeremie finished 3rd in leg 2.
Has the structure of this season, leg design-wise, been too linear, or have the top 3 teams been just that much better than the rest of the teams?

TAR36

Edit: Correction, probably not.  I thought you meant 'to win' every leg instead of overall placement.  That said, Leg 2, here, had Gracias and Jeremie in third.

Bit of both since we’ve seen the top 3 fall behind and make up a lot of ground.

Not going to say much about the Speed Bump as it likely wasn't planned due to the second Romania leg.

ALL of the Speed Bumps this season seemed like they were unplanned. We had fixing a children's bike, making a hotel bed, washing a car, and diving into a hotel pool. None of them had any real cultural significance and were basically extra chores.

For a season that has emphasized a close race among three teams, it was not surprising that the final leg was that competitive. It did come as a surprise that the race to the Finish Line was that close along the likes of TAR 2. Apparently it came down to 15 seconds.

Congratulations to Metti & Hanna!

That's it for TAR in 2024. Now on to 2025.

I think this season was great. The tasks were better and the teams were more interesting than last year.

There has been some speculation about the final episode and time difference scaling. I personally don't mind, but in one episode dad&daughter were hours ahead of others - this was balanced in the next episode and they only got 15-30 minute advantage. Final episode, similar equalisation was done for the brothers.

Also in the final task, Metti&Hanna did not give the compulsory interview, they ran straight to the cars, daughter&dad gave the interview. There were some other minor issues, that has been pointed out in the Finnish Social medias.
