Previously on TAR, 10 teams raced through Medellin, Colombia! The pressure took its toll on Amber & Vinny. Sunny & Bizzy were puzzled at the Detour, but staged an epic comeback at the Roadblock to overcome it! Danny continued his strategy of working with Amber & Vinny. Ricky & Cesar won their second leg while Michelle & Sean made their final jump onto the mat.

Teams start off in Santiago, Chile. They will begin in Plaza De Armas.

Ricky & Cesar and Amber & Vinny depart in the first group. ROUTE INFO: Find Marilyn Monro's Thunderbird. Amber wants to not be reactive to what Vinny says and Vinny agrees.

Group 2 of Angie & Danny, Rod & Leticia, and Juan & Shane leave. "Welcome to San Diego, Chile."- Leticia 

Juan & Shane have a map and believe it's a game-changer. They are stressed about their spot and want to do the best they can. Juan loves self-driving. Angie is driving and Danny is the backseat map-reader. Angie reveals Danny went to Santiago before for school (study abroad?). Danny is ecstatic with his glasses. "Sixty eight VW bug!" - Angie's experience.

Leticia says Rod loves being challenged and are finding the balance to work together as a team. "Taking back our #1 spot!" - Rod

Abridged intro and commercials.

We return to group 3 of the leftover 4 leaving. Phil moment: Teams must find the Thunderbird in Argomedo Performance Garage, suddenly reappearing after six years of it missing.

Sunny & Bizzy pass the marked cars. Kishori says it has to be on this street. Derek & Shelisa are also confused and run back. Yvonne & Melissa are also in the mix.

Derek & Shelisa get into the car first to leave from the plaza. Ricky & Cesar, meanwhile, arrive at the garage. They pass by Firebirds and Lamborghini Aventadors. They finally get to a classic car garage to admire it. The clue giver is the owner of the garage.

ROUTE INFO: Skate Park  Parque Araucano

Amber & Vinny follow in next in second place. Angie & Danny arrive at the garage are led by Amber.

Leticia says they took too long as they grab the clue in 4th. Juan & Shane retrieve the car clue in 5th. Danny works with Rod & Leticia mapping out directions to the skatepark. Angie wants to drive a bit. In a confessional, she says Danny is their secret weapon. Angie wants to shake the teams away. Danny's heart is in a different place than Angie's. Angie has a point saying she is aware she is physically disadvantaged against the athletic teams.

Yvonne & Melissa want to think through Detours better. They drive onto the highway and hope for the best. Sunny reveals she is a Black Op mechanic in the Army. She says they hope they have an advantage against a team who can't drive stick. And we cut to Karishma stalling out.

Karishma's motto: "Live every day like it's your last." Kishori wants to keep staying positive. "You just learned how to drive stickshift before coming on the race." - Kishori

Shelisa and Derek are arguing again in the navigation, but says bickering is the nature of their relationship. It's their form of encouragement. Derek's love language is Shelisa being sweet.

Ricky & Cesar are driving and having a communication breakdown. "Save the stress for later." - Cesar. They are not wandering, not lost. Sunny & Bizzy's motto.

Amber & Vinny realize they are driving the wrong direction and having a disagreement over the pace they are going. Amber says Vinny is driving too fast for her to keep up with the navigation. They are stressed.

Commercials.

We return to Amber & Vinny in a bit of a pickle. "I need you to stop." - Amber. Vinny takes the map over and reads with her peeking from behind. They plan to drive toward the water south. Ricky & Cesar run into a dead end? "We're good." - Cesar.

And Angie & Danny are first to the box!!! "Who's feeling board?"
One team member must pay attention to a skateboard an athlete is using and assemble it correctly to receive their next clue.

Rod & Leticia are behind and Rod does the RB. They jump the fence!!!

Angie & Danny goes around the park and goes back in. They catch up to Ricky & Cesar in 3rd.

Juan & Shane are also at the skate park now. Juan lays everything out as his strategy while Danny and Cesar funnel in. Danny notices the colors and points out the detail like the race wouldn't just put them randomly out there like that. Cesar wants to get out of there first. All teams are making progress and talking with each other.

Rod calls for a check. "Tell me you know that thing is pretty!" And it's wrong. He dropped a lugnut somewhere and walked away. "Did anyone see a nut flew over here somewhere?"

Juan is also incorrect in his check and is confused.

"A nut for a nut case!" - Rod

[RachelLeVega]

Rod is panicking. "I've lost my nuts." / "Maybe we shouldn't phrase it that way." - Angie & Danny.

Juan tests out the board before getting another check, nope.

We cut to Derek & Shelisa arriving at the classic car garage alongside Yvonne & Melissa. The girlfriends see the owner and grab their clue, surpassing the grandparents. They don't want to tell Kishori & Karishma the way to go as they arrive. Sunny & Bizzy are trying to find Santo Domingo Ave.

Derek & Shelisa leave with the clue with Shelisa hyperventilating. Karishma recognizes the car and reveals her dad used to auction off cars. They leave in 8th from the garage.

Sunny & Bizzy don't know where to go and are fired up at each other.

Coming back from commercials, Sunny & Bizzy are at each other's throats. Bizzy gets out to ask a local where they need to go. They are given directions to pass Recoleta.

Amber & Vinny arrive at the RB in 5th. Vinny does it.

"I have no idea where this nut is." - Rod.

Danny and Cesar making progress. Ricky & Cesar have a lighthearted chat with each other to get Ricky to cheer for Cesar.

Vinny has experience building skateboards and is confident in his abilities. Danny wants to return the favor a little bit.

Juan realizes the mismatched front wheels and Rod finds his missing nut. Danny calls for a check and is the first to pass! "He just smoked it!"- Angie

DETOUR: Perform for Pesos or Climb for Clues
In Perform, teams must learn and perform a short chinchineros routine. They must earn 2500 pesos to earn their next clue. In Climb for Clues, teams must climb six storeys to retrieve two race ribbons and rely on the existing climbing holds.

Angie & Danny go for the drumming. Juan & Shane also finish up and choose the rock climbing. Ricky & Cesar are doing the performing after finishing the RB in 3rd.

Rod follows right behind in 4th. They do the chinchineros as well. Vinny finishes fast right behind them. They do the rock climbing.

Angie & Danny head into a one-way and can't connect the turn. Rod & Leticia also miss their exit and are getting frustrated. They are on the expressway and heading into the mountains. "Well then you might be heading the wrong way." - Leticia

Sunny & Bizzy arrive at the car garage.

"Pretty sure we're in last place." - Sunny & Bizzy

Yvonne & Melissa arrive at the skateboards. Melissa does the task. She's excited to see the skatepark as a childhood skater, but her heart sinks as she realizes it's a construction task. Yvonne realizes five benches don't have boards yet.

Derek & Shelisa arrive in 7th. Derek does the task. Karishma & Kishori arrive and they gamble on Karishma to do a physical task, and yet again, they lose as Kishori is the expert at assembling stuff.

"Righty means tighty. I know that much." - Karishma. The cousins are rooting each other on.

Ricky & Cesar arrive at the chincheros. Ricky did marching band in high school. Cesar says it looked like they have chicken wings.


They begin shaking their money maker.

Rod & Leticia are going into the montanas and almost in Argentina probably. They are fed up. "I'm not giving up. I'm just trying to find it." - Leticia

We come back to Rod & Leticia finding themselves wandering, but are lost. They are literally off the map. Rod wants to know from Leticia if she can take over driving instead. They pull over and assess their situation. Leticia argues that he won't find it when he's arguing from the back. We get a clip of their pre-race thoughts of each other as they see they are near Parque Chamisero.

Juan & Shane and Amber & Vinny get to the rock climbing tower. Amber asks Juan how long they've been there. They just got there.

Derek calls for a check and is unapproved. Melissa is also wrong.

Shane goes up the tower very quickly and grabs his tiny flag. Vinny is maneuvering at a quick pace. Meanwhile, Ricky & Cesar are begging people at the point of 2000 pesos.

Vinny finishes and tells Amber it's difficult at the top. Juan completes the other half.

Ricky & Cesar finish the Detour. PIT STOP: Estacion Mapocho

Juan & Shane finish the rock climbing in 2nd place overall. Amber is struggling on the way up and wants Vinny to hush. She can't find her foothold as the pieces are tiny. "Babe, can you stop talking please." - Amber exasperated.

Commercials.

We return to Amber climbing for her life and successfully grabbing the other half of the flag. They leave the DT in 3rd. Angie & Danny arrive at the chincheros band and are getting started.

Melissa realizes the trucks are backward and Derek sees the same error. Karishma thinks the firefighters are lost. Meanwhile, Sunny & Bizzy don't remember the days when they didn't have a GPS.

Angie says this is the first day she is selfishly having fun. A random man drops a random 100 peso coin into their hat and brings them the correct amount to move on!

Rod & Leticia arrive at the drums.

i'd say this is the second detour that feels balanced between each others. if your ass can't climb you may head into trouble, but if you can't perform or you are in bad luck with the crowd then you also heasd into trouble

The chincheros are absolutely stumped at Rod's size carrying the drum set. Leticia is asking for dinero passively. She wasn't feeling it. She is not good at asking the public for money and switch positions. Leticia realizes he is the showstopper here and the switchup works out. They finish without a cut scene to the other Detour.

Juan is stressed while Ricky points out the way to the old train station. "Look for parking." -Cesar. Juan says they are due for a first place. "We may have to sprint." And...

Ricky & Cesar arrive at the Pit Stop and are TEAM NUMBER ONE! They win OneKey Cash to Singapore.

Juan & Shane are right behind and rush to the Pit Stop to find out they are TEAM NUMBER TWO!

"Right there", Juan cutting into Sunny getting to the RB. "Everyone loves a comeback story!" - Bizzy

Remaining teams at the Roadblock with Melissa getting through in 6th! They climb.

Amber & Vinny arrive on the mat and are TEAM NUMBER THREE!

Angie & Danny stumble into the mat and are TEAM NUMBER FOUR! Danny says he realizes Angie is right about not being so generous about giving directions.

Yvonne & Mel arrive at the rock climbing tower and Yv grabs the first flag.

Rod & Leticia are TEAM NUMBER FIVE. They want to win bad. And we are allowed to use the Super Bowl title here on TAR! An achievement in itself.

Melissa grabs the second flag after taking a leap of faith up. Yvonne is proud of her.

Karishma is trying to figure out how to get something unstuck. Bizzy calls for a check as Karishma looks mad. Bizzy is incorrect while Kishori tries to motivate her cousin.

"This stupid little bolt is stuck in this stupid little thing." - Karishma

"Hey Lisa, are you ready to go?" / "I've been ready!" right before Derek finishes. The grandparents are climbing for the Detour clue.

Karishma is frustrated and is on the verge of tears.

Bizzy calls for another check and passes in 8th! "It was deja vu from Colombia." - Karishma. She is frustrated and visibly panicking.

Commercials and Phil asking for applicants.

We return to Karishma & Kishori's chances of staying skating away. "You can do this Karishma, you can do this." - Kishori. Karishma makes a breakthrough as she gets a screw out!

She gets a check and is correct! They move on to the climbing Detour.

Derek & Shelisa are navigating their minds off. Sunny & Bizzy arrive at the climbing and reason their upper body strength as an excuse to show Bizzy's biceps. Sunny is immediately struggling at the top, but manages to grab the flag.

Bizzy finishes her part quickly. Yvonne & Melissa arrive on the mat and we see our first instance of personality from this team five legs in as Yvonne is so shocked to hear about being in the middle of the pack still.

Derek & Shelisa says they are supporters of Lifetime Fitness as they arrive at the rock climbing. Shelisa sees it's difficult.

Kishori & Karishma driving to the park still and still have faith.

Shelisa is struggling up the tower.

Shelisa grabs the second flag and is down. They leave in 8th. Meanwhile, Kishori & Karishma are at the rock climbing and Kishori immediately breaks down in tears as she is afraid of heights. Karishma reveals her love language is words of affirmation. "You're basically Tyra Banks!" - Karishma.

Sunny & Bizzy are on the mat and are TEAM NUMBER SEVEN. Sunny reveals directions are their kryptonite. They've lost hours of being... lost.

Derek & Shelisa can't figure out their directions, meanwhile Karishma is jetting up the concrete tower. Karishma also wants Kishori to shut up as she finds her holding. "Get me off this freaking wall!" - Karishma

Karishma is zooming through the street while Derek & Shelisa are visibly lost. It's a self-driving race to the train station.

And Derek & Shelisa run through the doors and see Phil. They are TEAM NUMBER EIGHT and Shelisa is shocked they are still in. Shelisa is surprised she didn't curse.

Kishori & Karishma are the last team to arrive and have been eliminated from the race. "We tried our best. That's alright." - Karishma. Kishori is proud of themselves and recalls their girl power. They know their relatives are proud of them and that's all they could've done.

it was suprisingly an okay leg. the detour were fine and balanced while the rb could be def better. as much as i love skateboarding, im just not sure the nature of this task. if team performer had to ride a skateboard through slalom course that might have been better.

i will say this, they boyfriends performance throughout the race so far has been out of this world, and i comfortably bet they would also do well in much competitive season

I could go to any local park and find a car, build a skateboard, play some drums and climb a structure.

Rumor is they were supposed to catch a second charter plane to another continent around this point, but it never showed up. I'm guessing this was the substitute leg.

These tasks really felt like something they cobbled together at the last minute.

Half of this leg also came from TAR Israel, increasing the likelihood that it was a replacement leg. Thankfully, it was bolstered by the self-drive. We rarely see that in Santiago.

Interesting how Marilyn Monroe's car is the make of the former longtime sponsor of the show (Ford), while teams drove around this leg in Volkswagens.

I love how the cameraman got out of K & K's car to film from the outside when they stalled. One team always struggles with stick shift so might as well grab some popcorn.

Derek opened the Roadblock clue and immediately said "Detour!" 

The navigation felt more challenging than tasks this leg. (Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.)
