We’ve had three Ontario finales, so I doubt we’d see that as the final leg (let’s be real, the third was a let down).  Quebec has had two finish lines, so my money would be on the Maritimes for the final leg (Halifax?) or we get shocked with a territory (would love a Yukon finale).

I think it’s worth noting that Whistler/Banff are big tourist spots.  Quebec City is a provincal capital, and Ottowa is the national capital.  Really the only final that wasn’t a major destination was S7.

I feel like part of this recent quality has to do with Mike Bickerton and John Brunton (who always gushed in interviews about international stops) leaving the show for new endeavors after season 5 or 6. They had a lot to do with the heart of the show as we remember it, now there's just Mark Lysakowski who wants to throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks.

TARCAN's sticking to all-domestic routes based on the last three seasons; therefore, delusions about international destinations speak only to a lost cause.

Like, why not have three legs in Ontario (NOTL, Windsor, Toronto) and THEN go to Saguenay? I know it’s a very minor thing but it just irks me for some reason. Maybe it’s just me.

Might be because the original show goes around the globe nearly every time and it's force of habit?  Lot of people here very reliant on a classic way of thinking about the show, and certain things are just muscle memory.

The ethios of the show is planes, trains ..if there are no planes and trains in 3 episodes,  it kinda defeats the purpose  .

Basically, to receive government funding, a TV or movie production must feature a certain percentage of exclusively "Canadian" content. Which in short means a route entirely outside Canada is impossible unless they did it on their own dime.

This law really stifles creativity in a sense, but it protects Canadian productions from being too Americanized.
