TAR 34 AIRING Times and Schedule SPECULATION
« on: June 18, 2022, 06:03:26 PM »
TAR34 will be airing right after Survivor which use to have 2 hour premiere episode, 3 hours finale episode and double episode (2 hours) somewhere between these during 12 nights. Sooo... Are we sure about there being 12 legs this season? Idk how they could fit 12 episodes of TAR in this schedule.

It can work by easily shoving TAR to 10 PM for the few times when Survivor does two hour episodes and having The Real Love Boat take a break for a week. If TAR were to do two hours, then the same can be said for The Real Love Boat taking a pause.

I definitely think we will at least finish before the Survivor finale as that eats up the entire night.

My personal (not confirmed whatsoever) spec is that we have 11 legs this season.

Yeah, I am speculating about this as well. But it would mean only 1 NEL which would be strange.

TBCs and "mega-legs" are basically the same.  Both would spread out over two episodes.

My personal (not confirmed whatsoever) spec is that we have 11 legs this season.

So here is my way too early prediction about the schedule:

We know that BB24 is starting on July 6th and running for 85 days, which means the finale is on September 28th. That finale should be at least 90 minutes but probably 2 hours so the Survivor premiere will be a week earlier on 9/21 (and the BB episode that day will be at 10 PM, similar to last year). So:

9/21:
Survivor premiere (8-10)
Big Brother (10-11)

9/28
Survivor (8-9)
Big Brother finale (9-10:30/11)

Survivor is typically a 13 week season in the fall, which means the three hour finale would be on December 14th.

Thus, TAR 34 would start on October 5th and end on December 7th. So it would be a 10 week schedule and there would need to be at least one double episode somewhere in there.

Also, Survivor did a 2 hour episode in week 6 during 42 (and should've done it as two hours in 41) so that would be October 26th and TAR would be pushed to 10 pm that week.

So an airing schedule similar to Season 32's, eh?

(Still in the early-2010s mindset of expecting TAR to premiere by the end of September.)

Yep, same 10 week period just a starting a week earlier. TAR 32 had legs 6/7 and 8/9 as the double episodes but I would guess for this season the first double episode would be earlier in the race.

Maybe something like:

10/5 - Legs 1/2 (2 hour premiere, 9-11)
10/12 - Leg 3
10/19 - Leg 4
10/26 - Leg 5 (10 PM because of 2 hour Survivor)
11/2 - Leg 6
11/9 - Leg 7
11/16 - Leg 8
11/23 - Leg 9
11/30 - Leg 10
12/7 - Leg 11 (Finale)

And I have no idea how long the Love Boat will be but it would then fit from 10/12-12/7 with a week off on 10/26 and 8 episodes total.

Again this is all baseless spec with nothing confirmed besides the BB dates.

Do you have a link or source to that? I can't find anything saying that. I was thinking maybe BB would end a week earlier than usual to make room for Survivor/TAR/Real Love Boat.

Wonder why they flipped it?  TAR is a much better follow-up for Survivor than that crappy new show.

Because it's a new reality show and the network wants to give it the largest lead-in possible.

I think NTP (new time period) being mentioned in the release for TAR on 9/21 and the Love Boat on 10/5 means it's what is currently being scheduled for the entire season. So they could make a midseason change based on ratings but it wouldn't be likely.

I’ve read the CBS news release (Futon Critic has it) and it’s clear the 10pm time slot is the regular time slot for the fall. We get a 90 minute episode the second week, and the Real Love Boat premieres at 9pm the third week. Paramount Global must feel that TAR will get a streaming bounce even with a 10 pm time slot, but I am baffled from the change from the schedule announced for the upfronts in May.

Well this is disappointing... Dating show being sandwiched between two family shows. Sadly this will hurt TAR as 10PM it's too late. What a strange decision.

Nielsen has changed its methodology in order to account for viewership apart from linear live viewing. Being a “Nielsen viewer” doesn’t have anywhere as much weight these  days.

This is gonna be so annoying having to watch Survivor then wait an hour for Amazing Race, but it is what it is. Ok, I will watch the first episode of Love Boat Island and see if I like it; if I don't then this will be annoying.

I watch the show when it premieres. I'm assuming that I am part of Nielsen's census here in the Central Time Zone (Chicago).

I think this season has 12 episodes.
This is my speculation:

September 21st: Episode 1 in Germany | Season Premiere
September 28th: Episode 2 in Austria (90-Minutes)
October 5th: Episode 3 in Italy
October 12th: Episode 4 in Italy
October 19th: Episode 5 in Jordan
October 26th: Episode 6 in Jordan
November 2nd: Episode 7 in Andorra
November 9th: Episode 8 in France
November 16th: Episode 9 in Spain
November 23rd: Episode 10 in Spain
November 30th: Episode 11 in Iceland
December 7th: Episode 12 in United States | Season Finale

This schedule fits perfectly with the premiere on September 21st with a 12-week run and concluding with the finale on December 7th.
If this season was only 10 or 11 episodes, I think CBS would have waited a week or two to premiere it later.

This also fits if Survivor has a 13 episode season, which if it follows seasons 41 and 42, it probably will.
So Survivor would begin with a 2-hour premiere on September 21st and finish with a 3-hour finale on December 14th. The Survivor finale always gets its own night to itself, so that fits with TAR ending the week prior.

This also fits with the potential schedule of The Real Love Boat premiering on October 5th with a 10-week run and concluding with the finale on December 7th; the same day the TAR finale would air, as well as 1-week prior to the Survivor finale.

All other recent CBS reality TV programs have run for 10 episodes:
Tough as Nails has run for 10 episodes for all three seasons it has been on the air.
Beyond the Edge ran for 10 episodes.
Come Dance With Me ran for 10 episodes.

So it makes sense if The Real Love Boat also runs for 10 episodes as well.
Putting this all together, it matches with my above speculated schedule.

How annoying that they’ve swapped it from what was originally reported. TAR should be on 9-10 every Wednesday as they originally released. What a pity! Wish it was just for the Love Boat premiere!

Yeah they don't care about TAR which is why they are filming 2 seasons this year, hired a charter plane for multiple seasons, put it on the fall schedule for the first time in years, and championed it after the covid shutdown when it could have so easily been canceled.

Let's all look on the bright side.

We are ON the fall schedule which has not been the case in several near seasons.

We have another TAR going out soon.

I think CBS recognizes TAR's ability to do well in many time slots.

Let's CELEBRATE our good news as well as sighing over the 10PM.

BUT I too think that's a poor decision as MANY families love to watch this WITH their children. It has countless points for Teaching: places, maps, teamwork...and so much more.

But we will hold down our time slot AND raise the bar in rewatches...so all should be good.

Very true, let's make sure to record and rewatch for a +7 boost and get onto Paramount for even more on demand viewership. So thrilled Race is back in the Fall and filming for 35 is also happening in Oct-Nov. Yippee!

One could say that CBS is trying to push viewers to use Paramount +, which would allow families to view shows at a convenient time.  CBS has moved two series that originally aired on its linear network to Paramount +, (Seal Team and Blood and Treasure), and is creating new content for that service as well.

YIPPEE, great news for Amazing Race!

The Real Love Boat has been moved to Paramount+ streaming airing only, and Race has been moved up to the 9-10 slot on Wednesdays from Episode 7, the slot we originally had, for the remainder of the season.

Exactly where it should be! I hope this can boost ratings to the levels of 33 last season, which were quite good!

CBS did it to try to force an audience for another dime-a-dozen dating show, but it obviously wasn't working like they hoped.

This just made me so happy. Time wise it doesn't change for me.
Still technically 11pm for me, DST ending, change my time gap to ET, and if you use the live stream links thread, you've seen me rambling a bit about these things, the last few weeks, including how terrible that Love Boat show is.

Sounds good to me! An earlier airing means more celebratory drinks while and after updating. :cmas26

This week's viewership was up 10%, the best performance since the premiere! Saw some social media comments who missed the message about the time change, so next week should be better.

That's more like it. Putting a family-oriented show like Amazing Race on at 10:00 on a weeknight was idiotic.

Just a reminder that tonight is "FALL BACK" for the US, as clocks are turned back one hour.

So note that the next TAR episode will seem to be an hour earlier!

Episode 9 was a season high in viewership! The timeslot really makes all the difference <3
