DAY #1:
SITE: EVERGREEN LODGE AT YOSEMITE, YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CA
TIME: 10.00 AM

Phil Keoghan: Good morning, designers! Welcome to The Amazing Race: Design Challenge VIII! Here in the majestic Yosemite National Park, all of you will begin your journey to design the best The Amazing Race legs we've ever seen. In this season of The Amazing Race: Design Challenge, you will compete through seven rounds, where at the end of the seventh round we will crown one of you the winner of The Amazing Race: Design Challenge VIII.

In front of me are the 18 designers who will compete in this season:

Take a look closely at your fellow competitors, because one of you will take the trophy at the end of this season.

Phil Keoghan: Now let me introduce you the three main judges who will be judging your designs in this season. This time we have new faces and familiar one coming from all over the world!

Our first judge is a familiar face in the series. Previously a contestant and finalist in the previous seasons, he was entrusted as one of the three hosts in The Amazing Race: Design Challenge VII. As a person who's an avid fan of The Amazing Race, he knows exactly what really makes a leg terrific. Now, returning again as one of the hosts and main judges in this season, coming all the way from Indonesia, please welcome...

~~~
Our next judge is an ardent fan of The Amazing Race. He participated in The Amazing Race: Design Challenge VII, making it to the final round and ended up in third place. Now ready to pivot towards being a judge and host, he's excited to be able to see the creativity from designers old and new and give comments on their designs. From the United States, please welcome...
~~~

Our final judge is one of our TAR detectives and moderator of the TAR International Versions Board. An avid TAR fanatic, his own experience as a designer gives him an expert insight into what it takes to create a work according to the standards required to win this challenge. Coming from Argentina, please welcome...

Phil Keoghan: Now that I've introduced you the main panel of judges, we will also welcome some guest judges as well throughout the season. But I will reveal them on the Design Showcase, so prepare your best leg not just to impress the main judges, but also the guest judges as well.

Get ready because the first round will commence shortly.

ROUND 1:
THE GRAND AMERICAN FINALE

Phil Keoghan: Are you guys surprised? For the first round of this season, we decided to throw you off right in the beginning by asking you to design a final leg of The Amazing Race. Since we just celebrated the Independence Day yesterday, let's commemorate that moment by designing a leg right in this country!

That's right, the first round of this season is an All-American Themed Round!

However, we know most of the seasons we have in the American version had their final leg held only in the cities, although this country has so much more to offer.

And that's what your assignment for this round. You have to design a FINAL LEG taking place on the RURAL AREAS of the United States. The rural areas that we want can be small towns, villages, or even national parks like the one where we are in now! We hope that you all can showcase the best of America in your leg.

But of course we don't expect to see all legs designed are only in some states right? To diversify the locations you are designing in, you are going to be split by four groups based on the regions of the USA, which are NORTHEAST, MIDWEST, WEST, and SOUTH.

How do we decide your group? You just have to pick one of the lodge keys here and make your way to your lodge where you will be staying in during this round. Once you've entered your lodge, you will know in which region you will be designing in.

Now on some more details.

You will be designing a final leg in the United States of America with following rules:
* You MUST design the final leg in a state on your assigned US region. Your region will be assigned by picking a number in the next post.
* You can depart from anywhere in the world.
* You MAY arrive in an airport located within city areas, but after that you must directly go to the rural location. (e.g.: Taking helicopter, boat, taxi, or self driving)
* The whole leg MUST held on a rural area, that includes the Finish Line. A rural area (defined here) includes towns of fewer than 50,000 people and any areas not within the boundary of a town/city.
* Include no more than 2 Roadblocks and 3 Active Route Infos.
* You may include a memory challenge, but it should be an original one.

You will all have SEVEN days from this time this is posted to submit your design. You have to submit your design by sending a PM to the three judges, Kamineko, Alenaveda, and Pi/. You are only allowed to submit ONCE, so really pay attention to the details before submitting!

Best of luck everyone!
