The Amazing Race: Design Challenge VIII

Hosted by:

1. Respect the hosts, guest judges, viewers, and fellow designers. Remember the RFF Golden Rule.

2. This season will consist of several rounds. At the start of each round, we will reveal the theme of that round along with the specific rules and requirements for that round. Sometimes you have to make a decision before you start designing. We will give you 7 DAYS on each round to design a realistic The Amazing Race leg according to the rules and requirements, and then you have to PM your design to the hosts (Kamineko, Alenaveda, and Pi/).

3. You are only allowed to submit once in each round. No re-submissions allowed, so really pay attention to the details before submitting.

4. Extensions of 24 hours is allowed for each round, but penalties will be served if the hosts are not warned before the deadline. You are already given 7 days to design your leg, so please use your time wisely.

5. Once the deadline is over, we will have the Design Showcase where every designers' work will be posted in the thread, and then the judges will give their commentaries on the thread. The judges will make objective and constructive feedback to each designer's leg.

6. The judges (the three hosts + a guest judge) will give you a maximum score of 50 each. Then we will take the average of the scores and the lowest placing designer(s) may be eliminated from the Design Challenge. In a case of a tie, we will take the highest individual score first and then by submission time in case of another tie.

7. No image hotlinking. Use any image hosting sites (such as Imgur) to upload your images.

8. Enjoy the game!

TIPS TO A GOOD DESIGN
(explained EXCELLENTLY by Cocoa in Season One!)

#01 Be sure to CLEARLY explain how one thing works. Words add meaning.

#02 Pictures also are crucial in this. The judges have no time to research to deeply understand what you are trying to convey, so be sure to add pictures. Believe me, the judges will ignore those creations without pictures.

#03 Presentation matters. The players are given the freedom to present their work in any creative way they like (skit, video, powerpoint, etc). The most common style of presenting the leg is via the Wikipedia Style and the TAR Fantasy Game Style.

#04 The TAR Fantasy Game style works 100% of the time, and are most likely to gain better scores for presentation.

#05 In the past Designers have scored higher if they included logistics of the leg (a.k.a. maps, flights bus routes, etc.)

#06 Do LOTS of research! Go beyond Wikipedia, and you might find something completely unique to make your design that much better.

#07 Look at past seasons to see what separated the winners from the rest of the pack. This might help a lot!
