The Polish Version Of Pekin Express
« on: June 27, 2016, 01:56:15 AM »
Georgiapeach found a Vietnamese news article with pictures about a Polish version of the Amazing Race filming in several locations in Vietnam back in May. The logo looks like Pekin Express and they do tend to film several legs in a country before moving on, so I think this is a Polish version of Pekin Express.

Here's the original article:

http://baoquangninh.com.vn/van-hoa/201605/doan-quay-phim-ba-lan-ghi-hinh-cuoc-dua-ky-thu-tai-ha-long-2305639/index.htm

Here's the English translation from the Bing translator:

Polish film crew taping "exciting racing" in HA Long

Updated: 7:02 pm, 12/05/2016 (GMT + 7)

On May 15, the film crew program "The amazing race" of Poland have taken some footage in HA Long.

Attendance of production has brought many employees with technical equipment, props to Halong.

The reality tv show "The amazing race" has contestants involved are Polish, produced according to the orders of Poland.

Filming was done at the fish market area in HA Long city.

Props are made in the form of fishing simulation tool of the native population.

The program will be broadcast in Poland, then was sell the copyright. Reportedly, after the Quang Ninh, the delegation will continue to spin in Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Dien Bien.

It's called 'Azja Express' which means 'Asia Express'.
8 teams of 2 compete to win the race. It's like celebrity version of the show (8 celebrities + their friends).

Teams are:
Pascal & Paweł (TV chef + his friend, also chef)
Renata & Weronika (model + her friend)
Hanna & Łukasz (news reporter + fashion designer)
Iza & Leszek (actress + actor)
Małgorzata & Radosław (TV host + ex-soccer player)
Przemysław & Darek (ex-kickboxer + his firend who took part in Top Chef and Celebrity Splash)
Agnieszka & Maria (actress + actress)
Michał & Ludwik (actor + his friend)

The route of the race is Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia - Thailand.
The start of the race was in Vietnam, the finish line is in Bangkok, Thailand.

This show has started on September 7th. It will be broadcasted on Wednesdays at 9.30 PM. Each episode is 60-65 min long (without commercials).

The first episode was watched by 2.08 mln people. (share:  17,24% among the viewers of age 4+ and 24,43% among the viewers of age 16-49). 24,43% is really great result. The average share of this network is like 10% (16-49 age group).

Not really. It's a little bit different. The biggest difference is that teams have only $1 for each leg. They have to look for a free accommodation, food and transport.
There is also less tasks and during the race they can win immunities and amulets (which can be exchanged for cash after the race).

Thanks for the information, Drake! It's so hard to find more about a show like this one. Most of the time we never even hear about it.

Without having watched an episode, my impression is that teams have to find ways to get around (hitchhike), places to sleep (get invited to stay in a home or ask a farmer to let them sleep in a barn) and get food. A couple of the seasons have looked amazing and I need to go look to see if they are still online. The French version traveled through Cuba, Mexico and the Southern US a few years back (2013) and looked like a fun watch. The most interesting looking one was also the French version (2012) through South Korea and the Philippines and then on to Australia. Australia was having the worst flooding in their country's history at the time and the teams were racing right through the middle of it. The Australian authorities were NOT happy to put it mildly. It was some of the most interesting spoiler hunting I've ever done.

We don't talk about Pekin Express much around here, but there may have been more versions of it than there have been of TAR. Wikipedia shows a Dutch/Belgian version (the original), a French version, a Spanish version, a German version, an Italian version, a Scandinavian version, a Moroccan version and new this year, a Mexican version, a Colombian version and a Polish version. I counted up the various races and came up with 35 seasons under one listing and 37 under another listing. So, there are plenty of them out there.

In polish version, the odd number episodes are non-elimination legs but the team which will arrive first, automatically gets the immunity for the next leg. The even number episodes are elimination legs.

If the team do not perform the task according to clue, drops one place down. In polish 'Asia Express' episode 2 one team didn't perform the task correctly and dropped from 6th to 7th (last place).

In the promo for today's episode there are info about black flag twist (but I don't know yet what it is :D)
This shows rating in Poland are really good so far. I'm hoping 'Asia Express' will be renewed for 2nd season.

BTW, did anybody create a list of TAR and Pekin Express versions and seasons?
I think this website might help http://www.eccholine.com/formats/peking-express/1
It is the official website of Peking Express producer - Eccholine.

We had 6 seasons of Pekín Express in Spain (the last was this year), and right now it seems it won't be renewed and I'm so sad and frustrated because I applied several times because I really want to go, but no luck. :(

I don't think there's any season in english. According to Eccholine website 'Peking Express' had local versions in France, Germany, Italy, Latin America countries... I started watching columbian version but it's in spanish and I can't understand most of it :D I founded info that Columbian version was broadcasted 5 times a week   :grins:
The Netherlands/Belgium version is uploaded on youtube. The polish version is available on player.pl (but I'm sure nobody speaks polish :D)

I've decided to make a list of Peking Express versions:
Pékin Express - France
Pechino Express - Italy
Pekín Express  - Spain
Peking Express - Belgium/Holland
Pékin Express - Belgium
Peking Express  - Scandinavia
Peking Express - Germany
A Grande Aventura  - Portugal
Dakar Fčs Express - Morocco
Asia Express - Colombia
Abandonados - Mexico
Azja Express - Poland

*The Italiand and Polish season were celebrity Peking/Asia Express.

Yes. I think it's because of cultural differences. Last season, In Cambodia F/M teams had 'problems' with local people. Locals weren't happy to take home co-ed teams, even if they said they were siblings :D M/M and F/F could find the place to sleep really fast but mixed teams always struggled with it.
In Laos, people didn't want to help at all. There was also the language barrier. Local people didn't speak english.

Yes. In each team there is at least one celebrity. (It's like celebrity team up with friend/sister/son)

I'm 99% sure they will be transported from India to Sri Lanka by production. For example, last season they finished legs in Cambodia (East Mebon Church was the last place they visited) and started the next leg in Thailand (from Wat Maha That).

The fourth season started filming this weekend in Antigua (Guatemal). The route will end in Colombia, probably in Bogota.
