Thanks for the information, Drake! It's so hard to find more about a show like this one. Most of the time we never even hear about it.
Without having watched an episode, my impression is that teams have to find ways to get around (hitchhike), places to sleep (get invited to stay in a home or ask a farmer to let them sleep in a barn) and get food. A couple of the seasons have looked amazing and I need to go look to see if they are still online. The French version traveled through Cuba, Mexico and the Southern US a few years back (2013) and looked like a fun watch. The most interesting looking one was also the French version (2012) through South Korea and the Philippines and then on to Australia. Australia was having the worst flooding in their country's history at the time and the teams were racing right through the middle of it. The Australian authorities were NOT happy to put it mildly. It was some of the most interesting spoiler hunting I've ever done.
We don't talk about Pekin Express much around here, but there may have been more versions of it than there have been of TAR. Wikipedia shows a Dutch/Belgian version (the original), a French version, a Spanish version, a German version, an Italian version, a Scandinavian version, a Moroccan version and new this year, a Mexican version, a Colombian version and a Polish version. I counted up the various races and came up with 35 seasons under one listing and 37 under another listing. So, there are plenty of them out there.
