I really don't like Ryan. But he has my bet to win now. -_-

I don't like Ryan either.
I guess he's supposed to seem witty and smart, but he just seems arrogant to me, despite being an actually good player.

I had Ali as a winner pick, and I'm going with Lauren now, no matter how unrealistic.
Many others I like as cast members and players, but I don't really wanna see win, at least so far.

I feel like Desi could be the merge boot.
But the heroes + hustlers will likely target Joe, with a completely random person leaving after an idol play.
Would be godlike if Ryan left though. <3 But probably not gonna happen given his edit.

So far, I'm rooting for Chrissy, Ashley, Ben and Lauren. I think all of them has little chance of winning though.

It seems like there's three huge characters, Joe, Ryan and Mike. And Ryan is the one without any idol. I would love to think that Mike will come out victorious and take out the other two.

I liked Ryan to begin with, but now I don't really like him now because I'm mad he took out Ali and seems too arrogant and I don't like that. Maybe he somewhat can't help his edit since he has gone to the most Tribal Council's after going to 4/6, but I still don't like him.

As much as I don't like Ryan, I do like Chrissy but I wish she would flip on him. Also I am rooting for Lauren too and she seems very smart.

Going into the merge I definitely feel like it's heroes + hustlers vs. healers and I will be shocked if that is not the case.

I actually don't mind it.
These themes are ridiculous and even if they're not filming in new locations each season (and therefore can't have the season name be Survivor: *Location*), I would prefer to just have a regular division, with no theme underlying it. Or at least a return to an age/se x division would be nice.

So when the theme isn't emphasised, it feels more like a regular divide to me. I just forget that there is a theme.
The bigger problem why we don't remember the players' original tribes is that there was a swap really early.
I've always wanted them to go into the merge from 3 tribes, and was happy when it happened on MvGX, but it would be really nice to have a season ala Tocantins, where it's just 2 tribes with no swaps.

Or, what I would love the most, is that they finally did a later merge, say at F10, which would allow an 18-player season to have 4-6 episodes with original tribes, and then 2-4 with swapped tribes. We would get to know the contestants well, and it would be a great throwback type twist!

I mean it's far from unusual
It is usually at F12 and last 2 seasons + Cambodia even had theirs at F13.

I know that every season with 18 players since Cagayan (and maybe even earlier?) have all merged after 6 premerge episodes (at F12 or F11 depending on if someone quits/medevacs).

To me I don't really mind the themes, and although if they are forced, it does provide some storyline premerge.

I think a late merge would be interesting, no matter if there is 1 or 2 swaps and it would be nice and refreshing since a merge after 6 episodes/at F13 or F12 is predictable.

I don't think I would like a season without swaps and I would be afraid that postmerge would be boring and lead to a Pagonging. That isn't always true since Pearl Islands had no swap but was a fantastic season and had great postmerge, but I would just be fearful of that.

Also, I am interested to see how the merge goes this season because it is the first season to not have 2 tribes at any point in premerge (going from 3 tribes to 3 tribes to 1).

Yeah, the strategy/moves haven't been that flashy yet, but I liked the storytelling and editing post-swap a lot more.
And the Alan boot episode was no doubt a bomb

The pre-merge was generally pretty mediocre IMO, but I certainly wouldn't say the season's going downhill. It's quite the opposite.

Btw, I remember Jeff saying in an interview that late-merge is very sispenseful and that the winner is unclear till the very end, so I'm really excited to see that unfold.

The premerge was good! IDK, I feel like the premiere and episode 2 were not good, but then it's much better now and actually solid. I'm actually looking forward to the merge and the potential new dynamics.

Ryan needs to go ASAP though, merge boot please

I like this season so far. I just hope that it wasn't this theme. The theme isn't emphasize on so why not just drop it? You know previously where there was blue vs white collar etc the theme was kinda repeated and mentioned throughout.

Now it seems like nobody cares if they are a hustler or a healer or a hero... they are just playing the game... so the theme this season, I hope we never see it again!

Well the healers utilised themselves at least this ep when they came to Cole's rescue. And I feel the hero aspect was definitely shown with Ben's PTSD moment. Subtle moments, which I'd rather than a theme being shoved down our throats like MvGX, which was unwatchable.
