I think Tara and Joey won. What is that last scream of happiness on the stadium by Joey? To me it seems like that team that knows he is in first and will win it.

This would make my day. And I think among the teams they deserve more the prize money for their families.

:groan: Disgusted :funny:

The first sneak peek showed teams arriving at Murphy's Rooftop on Sheffield Av./Jim Murphy Way to deliver the Chicago dogs to fans after making them at Wrigleyville Dogs, and the second preview is the memory task! I've sat in those bleachers once with my family during one of their home games six years ago. It's almost unrealistic I will be seeing this on television next week on my favorite show!

Teams have to place all their placements for the past 11 legs on the scoreboard and would be given an equation after to solve for a three-digit number. Then, they had to find the seat number which matches their correct answer to locate their clue.

More than a coincidence that TAR would use the number 43 for their stock car racer at the Chicagoland Speedway.  ...it was used by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty, among others

Wow. Hopefully notes were allowed or that will be ridiculously hard. The season 22 final 3 had trouble remembering just 3 placements.

Just supplemental info from the promo. Key: Blue is London, green is Tara & Joey, and orange is Brooke & Scott.

Mistake: Tara & Joey seems to be running south, not north. Gotta remember: Never eat sour watermelons.

This is going to be tough to watch. I am a lifelong, die hard Cleveland Indians fan. I attended games 6 and 7 of the ill-fated world series, and now I will have my nose rubbed in it once again even though this took place months before they won. Ugh.

As a Rangers fan, at least they didn't go to Busch Stadium in St. Louis or the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Really cool final task... potential to be the greatest final task meltdown since 12 and 21... could be

Overall the tasks was amazing in concept, could be one of the greatest season finale if the editing and additional details executed well... or could be like Tar 19 (cooltask concept but in the end underwhelming)

Speaking of Tar 19, omg there are ernie and cindy with their cute son <33

I'm not seeing it mentioned anywhere, but Scott & Brooke's placements currently align with the numbers next to the cities on the Wrigley Field board (all be it the Zanzibar leg where they moved from 7th to 6th after Becca & Floyd had their passport drama), so that has to be what the final memory task involves...

From that photo of the board, can we assume Scott and Brooke are in first place since only their placements are up?
Also, the numbers next to Zanzibar (7) and Lake Como (4th) are incorrect. They came 6th and 5th in those legs respectively.

Wow I like the final task was a bit more complex than simply remember the placement on the cities they visited.

Has anyone noticed the board number placement on the finale promo match Brooke & Scott placement once again just like the board pic spoiler we get on last July.

So the preview shows B&S scores as a demonstration, but at the live sighting the numbers were a bit different and not all correct so that was the real scores put on by B&S.

From this task design, the difficulty depends on whether they can solve the equation before getting all scores correct, if they need to solve the equation to realize they are wrong, it could take time to correct the mistakes (run to change scores and calculate and run to seat again). If they have a judge to tell they are correct or wrong before solving equation, that would be easier. I think production may go for the latter, but I like the no-checking arrangement more.

Was there no B&S live sighting around the stadium? It's interesting they're not spotted despite they were supposed to be leading at that point...?

They were sighted to enter Wirgley Field with around 30 minutes lead over Tara & Joey, but we never saw them exit Wirgley Field. Probably they use another exit gate and end up we didn't sighted them.

It's possible for any of them to win, I suppose.

-London & Logan, my top pick based on the fact the most boringly-edited of the final 3 most often wins.
-Tara & Joey, we've heard about their families over and over. Not much of a villain edit, which is usually a sign a team doesn't win.
-Brooke & Scott, eh...before last season I'd have said they have the least chance with Brooke's role as the traditional "hysterical" racer. But then Matt & Dana.

In Leg 1, London & Logan got 6th and Tara & Joey got 7th, but there were time credits which pushed T/J to 6th anld LoLo to 8th. I hope this doesnt give Brooke & Scott anl advantage in the placement memory challenge

Brooke & Scott (and LoLo again) were in a similar situation in leg 3, when TeamFun arrived 5th, but dropped to 8th while searching for their lost passports. During that time, Brooke & Scott rose from 7th to 6th, and LoLo from 6th to 5th.

Seems odd though. I'd assume teams to study during their down time like when they are in the plane, instead of making sure they are not lost in a taxi.

As a fan of the show, this memory task seems a little too easy and potentially linear. How hard could it possibly be to solve a math equation and look for a seat if you took good notes? Maybe it's just me, but it just seems that those who have the time advantage are in safe hands. It would be interesting to see that radio conveniently run into problems, though.

Yes but that was TAR16.

Look how TAR27 did it - three seemingly lame memory tasks alone were combined to make an exciting and physical finale.

Not to mention the cities are listed alphabetically, rather than chronologically so it prevents someone from simply going leg by leg in order.

Actually I think that is the most difficult part, the cities are not in race order. Also, Tanzania got 2 legs which could also be confusing (not so much for Vietnam as it's more recent in their memory)...

Actually I think this time it may be easier for Team LoLo as they have many 5th place finishes  :funny: :funny: :funny:

Which would only make a difference if you didn't study. Literally all teams would need to do is grab their notebooks, search for the cities, and then do the placements. If they only need to convey this through a radio, it should take less than an hour(assuming the radios work perfectly).

"We're Going to Victory Lane"--In this Active Route Marker, Tara (left) and Joey (right) must travel by train or on foot to three locations where they will collect postcards then deliver them to a beekeeper waiting on the top of the Chicago City Hall in order to receive the next clue on THE AMAZING RACE, Thursday, June 1 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. So THAT's why Brooke & Scott and London & Logan were spotted at a train station but Tara & Joey was not.

They've banned notes in memory tasks before (still? they were explicitly banned in TAR 19's task and I don't remember anyone using them in any future tasks) plus I don't think "team placements in each leg" is something teams would be expecting to recall on short notice. Plus of course add in stress / exhaustion / adrenaline from being one task away from winning and you've got a possibly more difficult task than what appears on paper.

Maybe Wabash Bridge and Buckingham Fountain are two of the postcard pick up points then?

US magazine has an article where Phil talks about the final three and the finale and there's a video at the top of it where the final three talks about winning the big prize!

How funny, we had City Hall as a location all the way back in July right here.

Maybe Wabash Bridge and Buckingham Fountain are two of the postcard pick up points then?
Peach said racers were heard asking for directions to Buckingham Fountain, City Hall, and Wabash Avenue Bridge. Now I know why London and Brooke & Scott were shown running around downtown, but why were Tara & Joey running across DuSable Bridge during the preview?

Since the race ended 11 months ago, the winners have an idea of how much they'll get after taxes, and may have been given a part of their winnings to spend.

I think Tara and Joey won. What is that last scream of happiness on the stadium by Joey? To me it seems like that team that knows he is in first and will win it.

It's (presumably) the applauding eliminated teams. It sounds more than one person.

Commenting to the copied posts; I hope Tara and Joey wins but I don't think they will.  It is hard for a Harvard grad and a teammate attorney to be beaten when it comes to mental recall ... the teams that helped Brooke during the metal challenge should have taken that into consideration when they helped her.

Not being a frequent flier, I was confused by Scott/Brooke talking about "gate-checking" their luggage. The reading I've done tells me a gate-check is a way for airlines to deal with strollers and carseats. Did they mean to say that they put their backpacks into checked luggage and then abandoned them at the airport?  ???

This finale certainly caps off a very unpredictable season, which was caused by the three U-Turns and several other unusual factors.  There were at least three teams who could have very easily won (Seth\Olive, Becca\Floyd, Matt\Redmond) who were eliminated in very unexpected fashions.  Scott and Brooke definitely showed that no matter what, you never give up.  It was a well-cast and well-designed season; having only one season per year probably increases the overall quality.

I remember there were season where some of the racers just threw away their pack, but in most recent ones, most experienced ones (as in people who have watched multiple seasons of the show) have been seen arranging with airline crew to have bags returned to them later.

Back in TAR28, I remember that we had sightings from the final flight back to the US for Tyler and Korey provided by members from the flight crew, who if I am not mistaken even mentioned helping them with arrangements with their bags.
