According to these two websites it's 10:30 PM Eastern, not AM.

The evening makes more sense to me, as there aren't many international flights leaving soon after 10:30am eastern. But there will be plenty on the west coast leaving in the hours after 7:30pm Pacific.

Thanks for the correction. That makes much more sense. Most west coast starts end up on flights in the evening.

The press release said "10:30/9:30c". Pretty ambiguous and I didn't even get the 9:30 Central time right. I just assumed morning without thinking about it. I'll fix my earlier post.

I probably should have finished catching up on the news of the day before posting.  :umn:

Maybe there's another press release. This is what I see in the one I linked to:

For the first-time ever, on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 10:30/9:30c, Phil Keoghan, host of The Amazing Race, will be live streaming via Facebook the kick off of the show's next season direct from the first leg.

It doesn't say the first checkpoint. It doesn't specifically say when or where. The timing suggests to me the starting line. I could be wrong. It happens way too often.

We can't assume 100 percent that the first airport is LAX, Season 25 started at about 3 a.m. in NYC using JFK, so there's a slight change it could be another US airport. It's interesting that WRP has picked up on the demand to watch webcams live for the TAR 25 and TAR 27 starts, and now that they've crossed this barrier and the good experience from the two live starts and immediate team announcements, this is really moving TAR into a new interactive frontier for reality competition programs.

I'm not bothered yet by all the teams having a social media presence, it's no different than a earlt tar season being mostly models, and better than the TAR 8 and TAR 26 twists. At least there is a good health mix of relationship with three parent-child teams, two sibling teams, only a couple of dating teams, a couple of professional athlete teams (dancers and frisbee players), etc. and that will be fascinating to see how they function minus social media access for a month.

This website said first checkpoint...

Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan will live-stream as the contestants arrive at the first checkpoint via video on his Facebook page, giving the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the show in real time.

The information I saw at CBS.com and the TAR Twitter feed was ambiguous as to time of day and it is explicitly clear that the live streaming is of the start line. (Most likely the CBS press release had the more complete time listed. (For those outside the US, the UTC tine would be 0330 Monday since it is 5 hours ahead of EST.) I'm concluding that it isn't a convenient place for fans to witness the start, and the webcams in Times Square and Venice Beach show that there is a global audience interest in seeing the start, wherever it is, thus WRP is making another live interactive advance with the show and the global fan base.

Knowing the crew around here, I'm sure they will be busy with Google Earth with the live streaming starts, and we'll know where soon enough. :)

The CBS press release did not specify AM or PM, thankfully others did.

And my guess is that this is being done at least partially for security.

I'm not sure where to put this since it doesn't seem right for Contestant Spoilers. It's sort of "I was offered a place on TAR 28 but turned it down" spoilers. I'm also not sure whether to believe them or if it's "comedy".

I guess I can now tell you that @comedyjonah & I turned down being on next season of TAR (b/c I refused to do it).  Surrrrrry! 😭 #Chicken

I wouldn't be surprised if we head to New Zealand or Australia as a first destination. A city leg and a rural adventure leg to start off the season.

Well according to the press release and the Facebook post, the race starts at either 7:30am Pacific or 7:30pm Pacific.

7:30 am----I am a few degrees of Latitude south of Socal and the sun is just barely up at that time. It is daylight, but the light is very flat and not very good for filming. from watching the Times Square start and Venice Beach start, it seems like it takes WRP about an hour to get the race started. So actual start time about 8:30 am. Then give them 2 hours to complete any start line tasks and then drive to LAX by 10:30 am. That seems to set teams up for the long flights to Europe at midday.

7:30pm---- all dark by then so lights will be used to light the area. Again actual start at 8:30pm and 2 hours to reach LAX at 10:30 pm. This scenario seem to set teams up for the long overnight flights to the western Pacific Rim, anywhere from Seoul/Japan all the way to New Zealand or Aus.

So I would hazard a guess and say teams head to Asia or South Pacific.

I rather they have LA start (most of time it just a non entity starting task and head to LAX for first destination) and non-LA for final destination city given that post-TAR12 non-LA start tend to have final destination city on LA.

Since we know from this post that they're starting in night time, I think they possibly start on somewhere that not a remote place, since they'll need more budget for lighting. So I guess they're starting on somewhere in downtown LA, like back on TAR25 where they started on Times Square? ???

Also, I think we can guess which potential flights they will be in and where they are heading to. :)
