Hopefully some of you from Aus and NZ can update LIVE.

To protect those of us who may not be able to watch right away, ANY SPOILERS ESPECIALLY RE ELIMINATIONS should only be discussed in this thread and the weekly EPISODE threads!

Previously on TAR Aus vs NZ,

Cracks formed in the NZ alliance and Kiwis John & Murray were left out in the cold.

But despite an Aussie promise, Ashleigh & Jarrod did join forces with Kiwis John *& Murray but the Kiwi best mates beat them to be first at the Pit Stop, only to be told it didn't end there.

3 Aus & 3 Kiwis keep racing. Who will be eliminated next?

Most taxi drivers don't speak Eglish and there is a communication barrier for sure.

Daniel & Ryan have a fast driver who is passing most teams.

Daniel & Ryan arrive behind only Sally & Tyson at the task.

NATION VS NATION BATTLE!

Nations will be tested on their attention to detail.

They must choose a babooshka (nesting dolls) and search for all the remaining parts to their nesting dolls hidden inside other nesting dolls.

Carla & Hereni are excited because John & Murray can help them all do well.

There are several houses each containing seemingly hundreds of dolls.

All three teams have chosen a doll with red hair, making it easy to distinguish.

The Aus teams are all in one house and searching, the NZ teams are dividing and conquering, a strategy that Cat & Jesse do not like, as they cannot see the dolls of the other teams in their group.

Ashleigh & Jarrod have 2 dolls, Sally & Tyson have 1, as do Daniel & Ryan.

The Australian teams haven't been looking for the smallest doll in each set... and have wasted some time...

We are back!

The Australian teams continue their search, realising to check for the littlest pieces.

They finish the first house and arrive at the house where John & Murray are working individually.

Tyson: They didn't have much of a system going on so far.

Sally & Tyson have their 2nd piece and the Australians have 5 pieces thus far.

The Australian teams finish that cabin and head off.

They find pieces and Australia is up to a total of 8/12 pieces.

John & Murray finally realise they need to team up and find the other NZ teams to work together.

NZ quickly finds a 5th, 6th and 7th piece, now an 8th - they are quickly pulling level with Australia, who have completed all their pieces except for Daniel & Ryan's smallest one.

They find it after a minute through Jarrod.

Australia is done!

The lady approves and they all get their next clue!

Travel by taxi to the Town Square. Clue is waiting in the shadow of the Firetower.

The Aussies head off while NZ collects their 10th piece out of 12.

Cat & Jesse are stunned that John & Murray have done so well after the struggles they are experiencing opening dolls.

Carla & Hereni and John & Murray dolls are done. Cat & Jesse are missing one last piece.

Sally & Tyson are first at the Town Square but Daniel & Ryan's driver drives INTO the Town Square right up to the clue!

Detour: Boil or Build.

In Boil, teams must fill an outdoor bathing kettle to a marked line, and light a fire beneath it. When satisfied, they must take a bath in it.

Build is the stacking task from TAR14 Leg 4 in Krasnoyarsk.

Boys will Build I think, Sally & Tyson will Build also. Ashleigh & jarrod will Boil.

Jesse: It ain't over until the fat bearded man sings, and I haven't done that yet.

Daniel & Ryan have actually chosen Boil, my mistake.

They are collecting water to fill up the large cauldron.

Sally & Tyson are at the wood pile.

This is interesting - unlike TAR14 they aren't stacking right next to an existing stack - if you remember in TAR14 some teams sort of had their stack leaning against the existing one. This makes it harder I guess!

Ash & Jarrod arrive at Boil also.

Teams are struggling to get that fire started - especially Ashleigh & Jarrod.

Daniel is filling up quickly while Ryan gets the fire up and running and starts using the third bucket which contained kindling.

Jarrod is walking past the bucket without seeing it

John & Murray grab the Detour clue in 4th, just ahead of Carla & Hereni. Both teams will Build, as will Cat & Jesse who are in last place.

Daniel & Ryan's bucket is filled and they enter the "hot tub".

Who wants to go to the dogs?

The member performing must drive a dog sled around a slalom course to get their next clue.

Daniel is doing it from sound of things, but they have to go to another location first.

Sally & Tyson ditch the stacking taskbecause TYSON NEEDS TO GO TO THE TOILET AGAIN... and being in the hot tub won't waste any time!

Ash & Jarrod fill theirs up but they have no fire...

Cat & Jesse also arrive at the stacking.

It is basically Australia and New Zealand each claiming one Detour as their own.

All three teams study the stack closely. Cat thinks they need to fill the entire marked area, even though it is longer than the length of the example stack, and so there is some uncertainty about that.

Teams aren't too sure whether they need to just stack it anywhere in the area or if they need to match the reference. Carla & Hereni are building similar to the stack.

Sally & Tyson are done with the task, but Tyson cannot go to the toilet... it's too cold in there!

Sally: I had to keep screaming to make sure I wasn't dead.

Tyson will perform the RB.

I think the Detour clues don't need to describe the task, but rather proximity to the nearest bathroom in order for Sally & Tyson to make the best choice.

The driver reverses out of the situation.

Back at the NZ stacking battle, Cat & jesse "have hope now".

Daniel & Ryan arrive at the Pit Stop and have won the leg. They have won a 5-star holiday package to Phuket, Thailand for two, courtesy of Virgin Australia for 7 nights.

They have also won THE SALVAGE PASS.

Either have a 1-hour head start in the next leg or save the last team to arrive from elimination!

A lot if interesting parallels with TARCan. Both mother & son teams were eliminated in the same week and now we have a proposal and the strong M/M team out in the same week.

Two words that could define this episode and TARCan's last episode: Karma and engagement

I can't believe how things went this well so we could have John & Murray eliminated instead of the 2 NZ underdogs. If Ashleigh & Jarrod came first,they would probably be the only team to make the stupidity of saving this two. Tyson's proposal to Sally was really cute

I'm feeling next leg is an non-elimination one,but let's see...I just want any of the NZ teams to go to the final 3,that would be awesome!
As I'm not satisfied anymore with John & Murray's elimination,now I want Ashleigh & Jarrod out. They're really rude and disgusting.

Really happy for Sally & Tyson!

They are so lovable in the whole race and they don't bicker along the race!!

A little bit parallel, the proposals of Sally & Tyson and Alain & Audrey were made both near/in a river area.

And I'm so happy that John & Murray were eliminated! This is the best use of the Salvage Pass in my opinion!

In total contrast to the majority of comments, I'm quite annoyed with John & Murray's Elimination. They did get on pretty much everyone's nerves, and were the "Villains" of the Season, but for some reason they were my favourite team the whole way through.

I think the most annoying thing is knowing they had so many chances to stay in and just screwed up. They would have knocked out Boil had they chose that, if John had listened to Murray at stacking the wood it wouldn't have collapsed, and possibly the biggest downfall was not staying with the other Kiwi teams while doing the Nesting Doll challenge.

I understand why Daniel & Ryan didn't opt to save them, but I cant help but feel pissed off towards them.

I guess Cat & Jesse are my go to Team now!

Some random thoughts about this episode:

The country vs country challenge was well designed. It would have been fairly fair even if the number of teams on each side had been different. It was also hard and I think the NZ teams lost quite a bit of time. I don't recall them even seeing any of the Australian teams later in the episode.

I love the fact that they give each team a limited set of resources in one detour option. In this case the fire-making stuff. This forces teams to be careful with what they have, and they always have the option of switching if they run out. We saw the same in TAR Canada with the fish detour.

The wood stacking detour option is actually quite evil. The task is heavy and the closer to finish you get the bigger the chance is that it collapses and you have to start over.

Finally I think John & Murray had their pile collapse at least one more time and they left the detour quite a bit behind Carla & Hereni. In the episode it looked like they were very even while rebuilding their stacks. But suddenly Carla & Hereni are done and then editing tried to make it look like the guys were very close but we never actually saw them in the same frame as the girls so it seems John & Murray actually got to the road block after Carla & Hereni left.

This is my favourite episode by far.

John and Murray getting eliminated =

WHY DOESN'T SHOCKER LIKE THIS HAPPEN MORE ON TAR US? It always happened on other international versions but not the US versions. The US versions = Always predictable, teams like Bates and Anthony, Dave and Connor etc slated to win from the start as it was just so obvious.

CAT AND JESSE = <3 SO ADORABLE
Tyson and Sally = <3 SO SWEET
Daniel and Ryan = <3 SO FUN-LOVING

Not sure what to say about the moms since they give me a little Mona and Beth vibes... BUT, I do like them and my soft spot for all-female teams meant I was rooting for them against the boys too.

Erm, as for Ash and Jarrod. It's the only team in the top 5 I don't mind seeing going home. But seeing the remaining teams, I think there's 80% chance a team I like will WIN.

+ all the tasks on TAR Aussie are so fun, time-consuming, complicated, intricate and completely a representation of local culture. It brings me back to the olden days of TAR 1-5 and not the subsequent versions where everything seemed so rushed.

I understand that the Roadblock seemed too "easy" and parallel.. BUT, that's because everything else was difficult this leg and this actually staggered the positions of all the remaining teams. John and Murray had 3 chances (the country challenge, listen to each other and do well, or make the decision as a team to swap Detour), but NO... they stuck to their guns.

And may I put 4 chances. The 4th chance being just plain nice to everyone from the start and actually getting a shot at the salvage pass.

So, like what they mentioned, they can't blame anyone for their elimination.
