NZ start screams Chile to me even though they're probably starting in Wellington.

If they start in Wellington, They'll probably connect to somewhere through Auckland. Possibly heading to Fiji or Samoa.

AKL screams Chile to me because LAN does AKL>SCL and I think Air New Zealand does also. Fiji and Samoa are rather useless places to visit and they would be better as penultimate legs IMO.

It won't surprise me if they do to Chile either. Los Angeles/San Francisco probably won't be out of the question either.

Flights to Chile leave in 6 hours and no sign they have started yet.

I'd imagine they will be at Wellington Airport by now. We may not get anything at Wellington Airport but if they connect through Auckland then I can see us getting things there.

Looks like it might be. Not sure why it would be a NZ Leg. Unless it's part of the cost saving measure :/

I am hearing AUCKLAND too.

Any idea if they started in Auckland or were in Wellington as speculated?

Looks like we have an Auckland start line. Also just noticed that Phil is in the country for the NZ Golf Open. Could it be a coincidence? Not sure what his schedule is but wouldn't be surprised if he had a spare hour to say hello from the start line?  ???

I was just noticing the tweets about Phil playing in the New Zealand Open too. That's mighty convenient, but he's on the south end of the South Island, so he's a long way from Auckland. Too bad, a cameo by him would be fun.

Yeh just found out he is in Queenstown. I thought maybe it was a one off pro-am day yesterday but I think he is playing today as well. Well we don't know where they are off to yet, could be a NZ first leg before travelling off overseas? Could be a chance of a suprise the finish line greeter? :)

Might be a bit late now, however would be good if you could ask any ticket sellers if anyone came by! :)

I think South American would be likely for Leg 1 or 2, depending if they stay in NZ.

But what we have to remember that if they are having pre-arranged flights, we have to look for flights that producers can get ahead on (like non-stop flights), as well as connecting flights for split flights for the teams.

They could also do something like Salta in TAR20 IIRC where everyone flew on the same flight to Buenos Aires and split on two separate flights to Salta.

Sounds logical to me. They'd all get into Santiago on the same flight and then go somewhere else on different flights.

Grant Bowler tweeted 11 hrs ago that he was relaxing in a Virgin Australia flight lounge. He also retweeted a picture that appeared to be from LAX, but it looks like it was someone else's picture and he liked it.

@GrantBowler Word ;) Enjoy relaxing in the Lounge and have a wonderful flight

Presumably he has arrived by now and that could mean the race will start today. No clue as to where though.
