I think the flag of French Polynesia is more suited at the top since technically French Polynesia is a constituent country of France.

French Polynesia is ultimately an autonomous province or region. We wouldn't give special flags to the Aland Islands, Mount Athos or Bougainville special flags, so why should we give French Polynesia one? It even has the word 'French' in it.

I tend to agree with mj, but that's just me.

Maybe because Air Tahiti Nui has the French Polynesia flag on their aircraft.  :)

French Polynesia has the same country-like status as England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Greenland, Aruba, and Curacao.  Let the admins deal with the flag/country status issue.

Actually you're right, Air Tahiti Nui has the French Polynesian flag on its aircraft and not the flag of France.  Besides alot of media classifies Tahiti and French Polynesia as a seperate country than a territory.

Air Tahiti Nui is also the flag carrier of French Polynesia, and it's impossible for there to be a flag carrier without the country! OK, I agree with you now.

Updated with the teams we know so far!

I've switched to French Polynesia. Thanks for your input! Even though it's not a sovereign state, I think it's distinct enough from France to warrant being referred to separately..

I've updated the Timeline but could really use everyone's input in confirming a few details.

I think it's more likely that Switzerland and Berlin are the same leg. The time difference in Hanoi was just too much for it to be only one leg, surely?

I would leave VietNamas two legs for now. Current thoughts seem to be that Switz/Germany may be some kind of ongoing leg??this will need more info nut seems like a start.
Also...we THINKBrlieve in  London as a leg, but have NO evidence for a leg...yet!

Peach, I think Vietnam has now in fact only one leg. It would be have a 36-hour (extended) Pit Stop. And also, Mount Vernon is not in Washington, DC, it's in fact located in Alexandria, Virginia.

Actually, since the city of Alexandria is an "independent" city (i.e., it is not considered part of any county in Virginia, the actual jurisdiction for Mount Vernon is Fairfax County, Virginia. (Yes, there is another independent city of Fairfax within that county as well, but that is how Virginia does things.)

Just wondering, but why are Max and Katherine deemed "SAFE" until the end of leg 11? Did we have some evidence that I missed?

So leg 6 is now not Hanoi.

I would not say it that way, as many people thought there was only one leg in Vietnam before moving on to southern Africa.

5. Hanoi
6. Hanoi
7. Maun
8. Maun
9. Jungfraujoch
10. Berlin

Maun - 2nd leg there

TAR 22 Timeline, with much help from all you folks both in this thread and on the Transportation Thread!

This season mostly followed the established scheduling pattern, except for these two main points:
1. Christchurch was out of place with a long lead-up and a zero-hour Pit Stop right after. I still think this was because a flight delay shifted the leg back by a day, and this was also hinted at in production interviews.
2. There was an extra day between Belfast and Washington DC taken up by the ferry, train, and overnight at London, where traditionally the final Pit Stop has been short and the finale taking place the very next day. Not sure what prompted production to hold back the teams when traditionally they haven't.

And one last thing: Hanoi to Maun represented the longest gap between Pit Stops (four days), mostly due to flight availability. Although if production allowed for the charter flights to leave in the afternoon instead of making teams wait an entire day in Maun (in Leg 6, but sort of edited out in the show), they could have cut things short by a day.

Neobie,

I is indeed awesome. I do believe that your statement "Hanoi to Maun represented the longest gap between Pit Stops (four days), mostly due to flight availability. Although if production allowed for the charter flights to leave in the afternoon instead of making teams wait an entire day in Maun (in Leg 6, but sort of edited out in the show)" is wrong on both counts. Hanoi to Maun is only 57 hours spread across a little bit of 2 days and all of two days. It totals only 2.5 days.

Maun to Johannesburg has flights out at 4Z8310 1400 1540 and BP211 1420 1600. Both of those are afternoon scheduled flights. 4Z is South African Airlink and BP is Air Botswana.

Hi Apskip! Let me clarify...

Teams checked into Pit Stop #5 (Hanoi) between 10.40am and 3.26pm (give or take an hour) on 22 Nov. They checked into Pit Stop #6 (Maun I) between 11.39am and 12.49pm (give or take, again) on 26 Nov. That's what I meant by four days between Pit Stops (probably more accurately Pit Stop check-ins). It's harder to tell check-in times this season, none of the racers has a nice big analog watch!

I also meant the trip from Johannesburg to Maun in Leg 6, not the opposite journey in Leg 7. Teams arrived in Maun (from Hanoi via Hong Kong and Johannesburg) at 1.20pm and signed up for charter flights leaving the next day to Xhumaga between 9.00am and 9.30am. Editing then took a 20h skip and half-pretended that teams got on the charter flights immediately, while really they spent the day lazing around in Maun (all the teams had changed clothes between landing and leaving). If charter flights had left between 2.00pm and 2.30pm instead on the first day, production might have been able to save a day; I don't think the tasks would have lasted past sunset but that might have been a production concern! (Teams racing at the same speeds taking a hypothetical afternoon flight would have checked in between 4.39pm and 5.49pm.)

I found the same flights as you for Maun to Johannesburg, but the episode shows them getting on an Air Botswana flight out of Maun. That eliminates SA Airlink as an option, and I've listed the Air Botswana flight in the timeline.
