It is with great sadness that I must tell you that Nancy Hoyt has died.

We all loved Nancy and Emily, and will remember her with joy and love.

Sending much sympathy and prayers to her family.

That's so heartbreaking. I think most longtime fans have a soft spot for TAR1 racers and now we've lost 2. My sympathies.

Update: Brennan said she passed away after a battle with ALS.

I have been lurking on the RFF page for ages, however I havent signed up until I saw this news. The Amazing Race 1 is still my favourite season, and I just started watching it again these last few nights, and all the way through for some reason I kept wondering how Nancy was. Im so shocked to see that she has passed away, she seemed to be an amazing lady anf it was a privage to watch her on the amazing race. RIP

I am profoundly saddened to hear the news of Nancy's passing. No one communicated their reactions to everything they saw in that first Race better than Nancy, and her spirit in adapting to India and to Thailand still remain among the most memorable in all of the seasons of TAR that has followed.

She will be missed. And my prayers go out to Emily and the rest of the Hoyt family.

RIP Nancy.

They were my favourite team and it still breaks my heart today that we didn't get to see more of them because they were eliminated due to a penalty. And it is shocking that they were not invited back for all-stars as well. They were one of the most amazing teams on the history of The Amazing Race and Nancy was such a great model, mother and example to show the viewers from all around the world how much she loved her life, daughter and everything she did while she was on the race.

My prayers goes to her friends and family members.

I thought everyone might enjoy seeing a picture of Nancy & Emily from last year. Nancy was still a lovely woman and Emily has definitely grown into a beautiful young woman.

I have passed my condolences on to Brennan and Bill of TAR1, I am just so saddened by her passing, what a beautiful inspirational being, who will be hugely missed by millions of fans

I am pretty gutted, words cannot express how it feels to lose apart of your 'TAR' family. She was far too young, and I had such a soft spot for Nancy and Emily was a crush

My love and sympathy is with them in this tough time, too quick too soon, but they can be happy in the knowledge that she brought joy and happiness to many of the viewers of TAR's first season, an amazing lady who will be hugely missed

My goodness, that's so sad...

Nancy & Emily were one of my first favorite teams, so this is incredibly saddening to learn of. Thoughts are with her loved ones. She will absolutely be missed, within our TAR community and far beyond. <3
