China Rush was all inside China, but TARAsia has gone to Europe and the Middle East along with Australia and New Zealand.

And both of these versions were English-speaking, so you don't have to find sub-titled versions.

i have a question.

How much can you exactly get after you pay the tax for 1m dollars?

The reason I want to ask this question is I always feel sorry for those runner ups.

Then I heard, you could actually pay 50% tax for it. I feel not so sorry. It's ok to lose the money

as long as there are good memories!

I think I've heard somewhere that after taxes, it's only about $600,000, or $300K per teammate.

It depends on the individual's tax situation and whether their home state also collects an income tax. The top marginal federal tax rate is 35%, but a portion of the $1 million may be at the lower tax rates, depending on how much other income the team members had. It also depends on whether the team members had sufficient deductions to itemize those deductions and reduce the amount of taxable income (and how much) and there may also be tax credits to offset the actual taxes owed.

All of that would explain the different answers you'll see; and of course, the tax rates themselves (federal and state) have changed over the past decade.

For AusTAR, the winners will pay no tax on their winnings. Gameshow winnings (and lottery winnings) are exempt from income tax in Australia.

Did a birdie (ie production, or possibly Gary/Mallory) tell Kisha/Jen and/or Jaime/Cara about TAR 17? IIRC 18 was filming as 17 finished airing, so they wouldn't have seen Nat/Kat win. I just found it odd that there wasn't any 'we want to be the first female team to win' confessionals, given how their season ended.

Is there a reason why when they show flashbacks to past season on TAR18, they have the two borders by the side? It has been at the back of my mind for a while now.

Is it because of the Standard Def and High Def difference?

Previous seasons are filmed in SD. TAR 18 is in HD. Because SDs have smaller screens, they need to put "borders" to put it into HD without stretching the entire footage.

Peach (or anyone else who cares to answer this) please forgive me for using this thread to ask a question but I didn't know where else to put it and this is the most recently started thread.

I've been having a discussion with a friend who also loves the race. I told her that there are countries where you have to buy plane tickets at a travel agency because you can't buy them at the airport. I know I've heard that several times on some of the seasons but I don't remember where. My friend says "There is no such animal." Can you tell me who is right and if I am right what are the countries that don't sell tickets at the airport?

I don't remember teams buying tickets in any of India's airports, at least in the recent races.

I don't care what Phil said. The key is whether you can book any international flights from Ushuaia. The answer is that you can seasonally (that means not during the winter in Patagonia when few travelers want to go there). Here are the airlines and desintations served by Ushuaia:

Aerolíneas Argentinas -Buenos Aires-Aeroparque, Buenos Aires-Ezeiza, El Calafate, Rio Gallegos, Trelew
LADE -Comodoro Rivadavia. El Calafate, Puerto Deseado, Puerto San Julián, Puerto Santa Cruz, Rio Gallegos, Rio Grande
LAN Airlines -Seasonal: Punta Arenas
LAN Argentina- Buenos Aires-Aeroparque, El Calafate

All of the above are domestic within Argentina except Punta Arenas, Chile.

Now, this does not answer the real intent of the original question, which is whether you can book through to southern Africa from Ushuaia. You can book to either Buenos Aires or Brazil and from there to Maputo. The list of connection destinations possible starting from Ushuaia is:
