« on: February 07, 2010, 06:26:59 AM »
I started this thread since CBS revealed the title quote of the second episode, and I think this is an amazing episode title :lol3: but is it just me, or is there a lot of 'kicking' going on this season! :snicker:

In this episode, the race continues through Chile.

Good luck deciphering this episode, awesome detectives! :hearts:

Going with the pictures from the first episode thread... The farm with the two guys playing musical instruments is in this episode? Read the caption and it said there was a cow involved. So maybe they visit the farm here?

What? That title isn't even a complete sentence. At least change it to: "The cow kicked me in the head." Otherwise, finish the sentence.

I'm thinking the caption for this episode could be one of the cowboys saying  - this reminds me of that time "when the cow kicked me in the head"  :duno: I'm probably way off!!!

Doesn't one of the tasks in this episode involve milking a cow?

I guess they weren't shown the right way to do (hence, getting kicked in the head) and they're explaining to their partner what happened.

Sorry, it wasn't the first episode thread. It was the screenshot thread. I'm borrowing the picture that heyhay posted along with the caption under it.

The teams of the CBS series "The Amazing Race 16" perform a Road Block on the Weisser Family Farm by Lake Llanquihue, Chile in which one team member must gather baking ingredients from around the farm, including a fresh cup of milk by milking a cow, in order to receive their next clue.

Yep, cow milking. So this goes here?

Yay for handling animals tasks <3 <3

As for the title, I am guessing it's the second half of a sentence, like:

"I was doing my own business when the cow kicked me in the head."

So... 7.20am or 7.20pm? Sunrise in Santiago is at 6.26am and sunset at 8.37pm...

Can you guys access the Pullman Bus schedule? I seem to need a password to get in. They've missed the morning Turbus if it's 7.20am.

I presume it's the morning of the 30th, which gives them a full day of travelling and maybe an overnight bunch, for Leg Two to end on the afternoon of the 1st? Fits the timing for a 12h Pit Stop in Valparaiso, considering all teams came in before Dana/Adrian were eliminated at 7.30pm the previous day.

Pure logic suggests that with a circa 3pm pit stop the most logical departure time for teams to get to Santiago is around 3am. The time to reach the Santiago southward bus terminal should not be more than 1 to 2 hours, much of that waiting for a cab or bus. That indicates to me that a 7am departure time from Santiago south is absolutely feasible.

I think the Pit Stop times are closer to 6pm.  But that still makes the 7:20 on the bus terminal clock logically AM rather than PM.

I've found a similar floor pattern here and this Chilean bus blog (near the bottom of the page). It's the bus station in Temuco, although I wouldn't call the evidence conclusive.

It is. In fact, that looks like the water taxi parked next to the platform (in the condor cap, I mean). Detour: Condor or Llama. Roadblock: Who wants to kicked in the head by a cow?

I've found a similar floor pattern here and this Chilean bus blog (near the bottom of the page). It's the bus station in Temuco, although I wouldn't call the evidence conclusive.

good catch     I'd say the stores are similar in the Temuco Terminal.

It's about where Onces Bellavista sits, just south of Ensenada. And the confessional viewpoints are roughly similar to the Hotel/Cabanas del Lago on the outskirts of PV. So I'm wondering...do they head west instead of east, finishing up in PV?

Someplace with a narrower "inlet," I think; I like Neobie's hotel.
If Jebber is Ep2, then the cars still have to be resolved. The trunk cap looks like cabs, not self-drive (yellow roofs, driver standing by). And I don't think anyone has figured out the "old joint."

  No surprise here, Temuco is the end of the line for the bus trip.  They switch to (taxi?) cars at the Terminal Rodoviario de La Araucanía, Temuco, Chile.   :snicker:

eta:  which leaves them a good 200 miles from Puerto Varas...   hmmmm, why do we see a lone racer looking worried in the bus terminal? ....did they miss the connection? ....are they taking a cab to catch up with the others further south? ....so many questions  :lol3:  :duno:

Maybe they have to take cabs back to Osorno, then bus to Angostura/Bariloche.

Remember, teams check in at the end of Leg Two around mid-day of the 1st. If teams are released from Santiago/Valparaiso on the morning of the 30th (following the assumption that gloves=morning), that means a daytime bus ride would result in an overnight stay somewhere around Puerto Varas. Would that be at the Onces as Peach pointed out (any insider info?), at the Temuco bus stop, or maybe in the cabin Jet/Cord are searching in? It's a 13.5h bus ride to Puerto Varas, 9.5h to Temuco.

Jebber has the teams in Argentina, so I'm pretty sure that's Leg Three.

Hypothesis: Travel to Temuco by bus, arrive around sundown, find a departure time in the cabins a la Southern Colonel in TAR 8 (Jet/Cord doing the OK sign), depart the next morning by taxi.

If the overnight rest hypothesis is correct, then maybe this is to make up for the lack of an overnight rest on Leg 1.

Leg 2 of TAR 15 was just an hours of operation rest, I think (not scheduled). Whenever they stay in provided tents, hotel lodgings, etc., it is an overnight rest. Leg 2 didn't look like it was pre-planned, per se.

I hated the fact that Team Grandma was beaten just mere moments by Team I-don't-give-a-damn-if-you're-detectives. I had the feeling they couldn't catchup at all and i was proud that they reached the RB before one team at least! Too bad Team BB gave Team IDGADIYD the route to the RB and the cow for kickin' my grandma! Go granny!! Keep going physical!

Team Gay Brothers, which i highly suspect not one, but both are gay... are irritating the **** out of me. *rolleyes*

Team Ellen Degeneres are doing very well with Team Asian and the both of them seemed to be inseparable. Lol.

Team Americans have no maps are proving to be a force to be reckon with. Doing very well and surprising many of the other teams.

I like Team BB the last leg.. but not as much this leg because i just don't see any chemistry between these two. Anyone with me?

Team Black Sisters always managed to pick themselves up from the back of the pack, for 2 legs in a row.. pretty amazing stuff.. but will their luck run out?

Team please-give-them-more-edit (Steve and Allie) are being shown so little that i'm wondering if they're even on the race or not, lol.

Loved the llama detour, but the bird one was lame. The RB was lazy and pretty much unexciting and a waste of air space.

I loveeeeee Chile and think the place is beautiful though!!

Jet and Cord - They could very well be the Meghan and Cheyne of this season. I mean, they're just so fast! They practically ran a flawless leg. I like them, but it's too bad their evil side came up so early.

Brent and Caite - They're doing very well, which I guess ain't that surprising, 'cos they just seemed so competitive pre-race. Well at least to me. And I don't know, but I have this feeling that they could win the race. Just a feeling.

Steve and Allie - They're my favourite team on the race now. They're just such nice people and they seem to work really well together, which is awesome.

Jodi and Shannon - It sucked to see them go. It sucked to see Grandma being kicked by the cow. It sucked that they overtook Mike and Louie to the Roadblock but fell behind eventually. I really, really liked them, they're just so lovable. :(

I agree with Joab, my enthusiasm for this season is kinda going down. I could easily find four teams to support for the past few seasons, but not this season. Hmm.
