Might have a reason why Pit Stop arrivals are so late in Guilin...Post 223 by Nickasingh, from Sucks (thanks hakushu8 for bringing it over!)Had the incredible luck to connect in Bangkok for a couple of hours, and was able to gather that an "adventure company" was holding an event here at the Phayathai Palace on the 16th of November, and that the point of contact worked for... World Race Productions! (This is our race, guys!)Other places which may or may not be locations (I can't tell for sure if I completely understood the lady I talked to, but it's worth a look) are... this place... and this place!Quote from: Neobie on January 15, 2009, 10:16:58 PMIt isn't exactly that building though; I was told something about the Vimanmek Teak Palace, in the same compound, but no photography is allowed inside?!So I'm not exactly sure if TAR could have got their cameras in too! (A security guard seemed to remember filming in the compound though, the information desk - when I asked them - called up someone, then started pretending to not know anything...)It's a huge rush getting from Phuket on the 15th, Bangkok on the 16th, to Guilin on the 17th - but it's possible, and the whole point of the race, isn't it? More info in the timetables thread! photo credit Nickasingh as posted at sucksQuote from: hakushu8 on December 23, 2008, 07:15:37 AMKinda weird that a month AFTER filming, the flag is still there.Quote from: puddin on December 23, 2008, 05:01:55 PMIf I were Nickasingh I probably would have swiped it And... glad to report that I am now the proud (and very illegal) owner of official Amazing Race paraphernalia!

Here it is!ETA: Amped up historical tags (including Temple of Dawn), by demand!ETA: Full map!
OMGah... ladyboys! <333I think this is the first time that TAR acknowledged them in Thailand... and they get to be a part of the task too! ETA: If this is a detour, Margie/Luke WOULDN'T be doing this one at all... unless singing is a REAL requirement. Although if Luke can "Daaah." and "Bob." his way throughout the task, then they might do it.
Thai Karaoke Taxis seem to be popular in Bangkok
Anyways, that title confuses me. Rooting? That's either uprooting a tree, which doesn't make sense for this case. You can also root, or cheer, for a person, but why do it so in-your-face on another person? Lastly, and probably what makes the most sense, is something dentistry-related. Teeth has root canals. Do teams have to do a dentistry task, or is a dental office a route marker?

Does this look pretty enough to be our Pit Stop?
