Do the distances on the route so far add up to ~40000 miles? If it's even close, then Africa would be out - it'd be a big shlep from anywhere along the current route (i guess it would be delhi/dubai if anything). I'm inclined to agree that NZ is the "fifth continent"!!
i brought this over from the tar13 timeline spec thread.. even though i absolutely believe y'all about not trusting BVM's geographic accuracy, i wanted to find a quick way to estimate distances from Google Maps and I found a nice little tool at Wisgary.com
http://www.wisgary.com/maps/this is great - you just click on any 2 points and hit calculate distance. you can move around one of the markers and it updates.
Using this I estimated the current distance travelled as per TAR13 specs to be about 38500 miles, so not too far off the 40K quoted, esp if you include one more destination after delhi/dubai (kazakhstan? any others?). anywhere in africa other than egypt would be a lot more than this
just for fun i did TAR12 route and got 28600 miles, not too far from the 30K quoted!
for more accurate distance calcs i like
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/distance.htmli'm sure resident cartographers here like apskip know these sites. how about a real fun geography one - i can spend hours on this - it's a blast!!!
