Maybe...Here's a Pune picture (yellow/black seems to be a common color scheme) and here's info on plates.

I have a cricket stadium that may not be the perfect visual match but has a much higher chance of having hosted the ARA3 cricket task,

Nehru Stadium Kottayam

Kottayam is 76 km (47 miles) from Cochin International Airport, so it is easily accessible from Cochin. This came from my search through Kerala Cricket Asssociation "grounds" pictures for 45 cricket venues in Kerala. Only 60% of them had pictures.

I have also attempted to find pictures of Nehru Stadium in Pune, which has a capacity of 25,000. Here is the only picture I can find:

Nehru Stadium Pune

So to the earlier concerns I have raised, let me add: "why would ARA3 teams be playing cricket in a 25,000 seat stadium?"

I have also searched photo Archives for pink tuk-tuks in the Cochin area, but have not found any. The only type I have seen in photos is the standard dark brown color with yellow stripe in the front. The only taxis I have seen in the same archive are white with yellow license plates.

So it's a matching task like in TAR5 Argentina & TAR6 Ethiopia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amazing_Race_5
The second Detour was Perro or Tango. In Perro, Teams had to walk eight dogs to three checkpoints. In Tango, Teams had to travel to a theatre. The teams were then given a photo of a tango dancer in the theatre. they had search the theatre, which was filled with tango dancers, who looked similar to each other, to find the dancer who matched their photo. they then gave the photo to the dancer. if the teams gave it to the wrong dancers, the dancer would take the photo and they would have to get a new one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amazing_Race_6
The Roadblock required the member of the team with "an eye for detail" to descend into St. George's Church to match a pendant given to them with one worn by one of the hundreds of worshippers standing outside.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Detour 1: Deliver pots to a local store

or Detour 2: Squeeze sugarcanes and drink juices.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TARA taxi. Check out the flags.

The identification of Pune as the next destination does blow up the notions that the next 2 places were going to be Oman and CapeTown. Now one of them isn't unless ARA3 finishes in Oman, an Asian country.

Anyway, I had flight information prepared for Cochin to Oman and Cochin to CapeTown and both Oman and Capetown to Nairobi, Mombasa, Dar-Es-Salaam, and Arusha(Kiliminjaro International Airport that missed out on AR11). However, most of those are going to be non-applicable. What I do need to address is how to get from Cochin to Pune. The options are one of 3 flight combinations through Mumbai each day and rail travel. Rail is easy because there is only one train each day at 1300 arriving Pune on the third day just after midnight at 0040, a 36 hour trip. Flights require long connect time in Bombay except for the middle set:

AI691 COK BOM 0430 0615 connecting to 9W202 BOM PNQ 0955 1040

9W402 COK BOM 1300 1440 connecting to 9W101 BOM PNQ 1635 1710

9W404 COK BOM 1605 1745 connecting to Kingfisher Airlines IT3146 BOM PNQ 2215 2300

Coming out of Pune should involve flights to Mumbai connecting there to Muscat or CapeTown but I won't do those for a while.

It does look as though we have lost one of those two legs, both based on Introcaps which bums me out behind belief...

If you can't trust the Intro caps, what can you trust?? :funny:

Nice work!  :yess: The wikitravel page suggests that flying into Pune might be a problem because of the shared military use.
On a slightly different subject, I came across this "amazing race for the clinically insane" while looking through autorickshaws.  :js:

I found a blog written by someone on this race last year and it cracked me up...definitely not for the faint of heart!

In keeping with the idea that this is possibly the most demanding TAR yet, I bet they travel by train.

I mean, we haven't seen anyone get groped in years!

I see three decisions as instrumental for Bernie/Henry this episode:

1. what flights to book at HKG airport, including the decision to mirror Vince/Sam
2. the decisive choice of "culture" over brawn; I know Bernie could have lifted a 44 pound fish, but Henry has been a weakling throughout ARA3 and he wants to choose the cultural DETOUR instead. It wasn't shown but they were about 2 minutes later in obtaining that clue at the Cochin temple, so perhaps they did not want to do the same tasks as Vince/Sam (this assumes there was a way for them to find out such as bystenders as to where the vince/Sam cab was going)
3. this was minor and didn't ultimately cost them in flight choice, but the arguments over what sytem to use in searching the warehouse appeared to consume a lot of non-productive time; both are very stubborn and wanted their system to prevail

So Vince/Same parlayed their ahead position into 4th place and Bernie/Henry went home(or to where the final city is).
Bernie/Henry looked strong early in ARA3, but over time they no longer stood out from the pack. In that situation they were vulnerable to just one small mistake.

I thought it was 2:22PM in my last spoiler. It's 8:22AM actually. This is where the taxi driver got some mobile petrol.

Ida's watch is 8:35AM at the Fill Detour.

So they checked in between 9:30AM - 10AM plus a 30-minute penalty.

Peach, it's time for some analysis of where the leg after Pune will go. At that point we have only leg 10 and leg 11 left. It's possible, although unlikely, that both Oman and CapeTown could be one of those two. It would have to be Capetown then Oman to fufill the assumption that ARA races end in an Asian city(which CapeTown clearly isn't but Oman is). So I think it is highly likely that Oman will be one of those 2 remaining legs. Also, the airfare to CapeTown will be approximately double that to Oman and the airfare back to wherever will be that much higher if CapeTown is chosen.

The scenario I see as probable is Oman for leg 10 and an Asian city for leg 11. We'll know the answer in one week.

zackattach308, I too bet they travel by train. However, I would like to offer an antidote to your facetious remark about expecting groping in trains. I traveled for 8000 km around India in second class, usually sleeper compartments on their trains. I never saw a gropnig incident in over 3 weeks and there were plenty of obvious Americans and Europeans to serve as potential victims. The overcrowded spaces in local bus and train travel and that leads to the type of behavior you have witnessed on past Amazing Races. I don't expect to see that if ARA3 does go to Pune by long-distance train.

http://www.hotelscochin.com/train.htm
1098   Ernakulam - Pune (Monday)   -   23.00

According to that page, there's only 1 weekly train from Cochin to Pune.
It's on Monday at 11PM. June 2nd is Monday.
I think Sam and Vince can make it.

June 3rd, they arrived in Pune in the morning. It's hour of operation.
They have to wait here.

jayans,

No it could't. Here's why:

1. A TBC leg necessitates a second leg to finish it. That means leg 10 in Oman and leg 11 in Capetown or vice versa.
2. In order for Allan Wu to not eliminate the third place team, the next-to-last leg has to be a NEL so that the third team will remain in the competition. There is one NEL or TBC available but not both.
