Did you ever see tv shows like how they make CHIPS? they weren't really riding then the background was inserted in, as in fake. Well thats what this reminds me of. They put the actors into the jeeps then insert a fake background. Also there are ramps in the background, something they would use on a movie set

See the jeep is probably suspended on a track~

Quit laughing at me....

Maybe it is a special task at Taiwan Drivers License School?

Quote
The drivers license situation is idiotic. Most American states do not recognize Taiwanese licenses, so Taiwanese must take a test there. Consquently, most Americans must take the test here

There is a written test (impossible to fail) and a road test (impossible to pass). The road test is done in a closed course which is completely unreflective of real-world conditions: it is built so you fail regardless of skill or experience. Nearly everyone fails the first time (this writer included, a most humiliating experience) and most fail more than once.

The reason it is designed this way is simple: graft. In the old days the road test facility was also the site where driving class takes place. Since the people who teach driving are the same people who administer the test, they make big bucks when you fail and are then forced to register for their classes (welcome to Taiwan: scam island).

The majority of people register for driving classes so they can practice with the substandard vehicles provided by the test site on the dreaded "S" curve itself, a tight S-shaped curve which must be backed down in one fluid motion -- you are not allowed to stop or go forward. For those of you who are curious, on my second test (which I passed), my friend's friend's brother's friend, who administered the test, said I drove extremely well.

A drivers ed center behind a parking lot in Yungho outside of Taipei. To the left is the stylized hill for practicing accelerating and braking, to the right is the practice layout

So Ron looks like he did the Jeep thing and perhaps Don, that would explain the shirt change.

If this is a intersectiom, maybe Ron & Chris is ahead of the two couples

and cooperate with Nick & Don. And that's why Koqs' friend didn't see

the Asian team , is that possible?

BTW , I'm also a Taiwanese and a huge fan of Amazing Race. I can't wait

to watch the next episode!!

Yeah, it's possible!  Unfortunately, a lot of people here are practically convinced that Ron & Christina are the next team out, so most of them are convinced that either Ron & Christina have to work with T.K. & Rachel at the possible Intersection or Ron & Christina fall behind later on.  As a fan of the team, I'm holding out hope that they survive.  Although I'd rather have Nathan & Jennifer out than T.K. & Rachel, if it's a choice between having Ron & Christina out and T.K. & Rachel out, I'm going with T.K. & Rachel for the elimination.

this is such an annoying task to figure out!
I've looked for every combination of why a jeep might be under water in Taipei and I cant find anything!

Maybe they have to test something in water? Taiwan is known for jeep parts from what I was thinking. Although that does seem like alot of work to just test something.

Puddin is probably right though, its just like muddin!!

There is a thing called underwater jeep tours, could that be a possibility.

Has anyone seen the jeep commercial? After doing a search I saw where it says they come out from the ocean or something. Just trying to help!  :-[

Who knew??  :lol3:

http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-corner/reading/water-crossing.htm

Quote
Diff Breathers
When a hot axle hits cold water it cools rapidly. This has the effect of lowering the air pressure inside the axle and the diff housing, causing air to be drawn in via the diff breathers. Extending your diff breathers higher up the chassis (standard on most Landcruisers) with the aid of plastic tubing is a "must do" for regular water goers. However, it is no guarantee that water will not enter your diff. The sudden reduction in air pressure inside your diff can still cause water to be drawn in via your axle seals if the diff breathers do not equalize the pressure quick enough. This is why its still necessary to allow the vehicle time to cool down, even when extended diff breathers are fitted.

NEVER attempt a water crossing where the water depth is above the air intake height. If you intend doing regular water crossings, its a good idea to fit a snorkel as it raises the air intake to your roofline. It doesn't mean you can use your 4WD as a submarine!

This is so stupid, you'd think this would be easy to find ?
What if its a test facilty for testing cars or jeeps to go through high water to rescue people in flood waters? I've had no luck finding such a place though  :umn:  :pull

  The olive green color should have tipped off folks that this may be a military facility.  Afterall, the last few TARS have gone that route (Guam, Ukraine).  Taipei should have some military sites.

Just to let you know, while under martial law, all Taiwanese men had to go through military training sometime during their college years (in case China invaded, that type of thing), so there are still many military bases on the island.
Just here to visit.

Yes, Puddin; thanks for the reminder. :groan:

Slowhatch's floor plan works well enough! While Banciao's connection between the train and subway lines is on the ground floor and B1, Taipei Main Station's connection hall is on B3, one floor below the rail lines on B2. This means TK and Rachel are boarding a high-speed train from the terminus station of Taipei, and are definitely leaving the city for the south.

But where to? It's got to be far enough, at least beyond Hsinchu, to make the trip worthwhile... (Buses and local trains cover that distance just as easily.)
