How I Met Your Mother
« on: March 20, 2007, 01:58:55 PM »
Did anyone watch last night??? SO SO SO FUNNY!! I LOVE THAT SHOW!!

Quotes and summary from last night....posted on TV.com

So the episode begins with Ted and Robin moving Ted's stuff in boxes.. into the moving van! Barney desperately tries to convince them no to do it.. while Marshall and Lill\y proudly proclaim how far Ted has come to this point in his life... So since no one will listen to him (Robin and Ted) then Barney "helps" but instead of coming back up for another box.. the last box in fact... he drives off with the van to use it as a hostage to blackmail ted.

Lily and Marshall end up being helpless without Ted no towels, no groceries, no microwave.. etc. So Ted and Robin end up deciding that it'd be better if eh didnt move in since both of them like their realtionship the way it was. So Ted moves back... to Lily and Marshall's happiness.

(Ted's phone rings)
Ted: Hello.
Barney: (in deep voice) Put on the suit, Mr. Mosby.
Ted: Barney, I know it's you. Where's my stuff?
Barney: It's not me. If you want to see your precious possessions again, put on the suit.
Ted: What suit?
Barney: Ding-dong. Oh, what's that? The doorbell. That's the suit I'm talking about.
Ted: I haven't gotten to the door yet.
Barney: Oh, okay, let me know when you get there.
Ted: Okay, I opened it. And there's a suit there.
Barney: That's the suit I'm talking about.
Ted: Barney...
Barney: This isn't Barney. But I hear that guy's awesome. All right. Listen very carefully. You will get your stuff back if you are able to complete a series of challenges. Number one, put on the suit. Number two, meet me at McClaren's in an hour.
Ted: How will I know who to look for since we've never met?
Barney: I look like Barney.

(Lily and Marshall are lying on the couch making out)
Marshall: Should we, um, move this to the bedroom?
Lily: Why? Ted doesn't live here anymore. We can do it wherever we want.
Marshall: You know what else?
Lily: Hmm?
Marshall: We don't have to be quiet anymore. We can be as loud as we want.
(a few minutes later they're sitting at opposite ends of the couch)
Lily: Okay, I think we need to lay down some ground rules. Just because we can be loud doesn't mean we have to be loud. And although it might turn you on, you screaming, "I'm the best," doesn't do much for me.
Marshall: Well, it's a lot better than yelling, "Ted's not here," over and over again.
Lily: Well, at least what I said is true.
Marshall: Well, that was unnecessary

I loved the "This isn't Barney, but I hear he's pretty awesome" part.  When I saw that in the previews, I just knew this would have been an exceptional episode.

Does anyone own the DVD of Season 1?  I bought it the day it came out, and I've seen just about every episode on it at least three times.    And I have episodes 1-14 of Season 2 on DVD (made them myself).  What can I say, I am completely obsessed with this show.

This is the funniest show on TV.  No arguement there.

I want to get the series so badly...its so funny!!!!

I forget what the quote is but something I didn't post ... .I laughed so hard...it was just before a commercial break.

man...I wish I remembered....

How funny was Barney talking about the cab rides to his place and what goes wrong in the 23minutes before he arrives...

And the girl Rachelle Lefevre who played the girl in the moving van (Also Heather/Summer from What About Brian) when Barney tried to mac her in Ted's Bed room....

Barney is awesome Neil Patrick Harris is gay in reallife but plays a fantastic womanizer!!

I don't know which quote you're talking about.  I want to re-watch it tonight.

The main reason I watch it is because of Barney.  Harris' character is great, and he has so many catchy sayings.  Although, I originally watched the Pilot episode because American Pie's Allyssa Hannigan was in it, but now I love every character the same.

Overall, whats your favorite episode?  For me, it's a tie between "Okay Awesome" and "The Pineapple Incident"

i haven't watched them all...but I really liked last night.

um...I am thinking the marathon episode when ted got arrested because he jumped the turnstile (and many many many other events that led to it) cause Barney's legs were not moving and he was stuck on the subway. hahaha

i also liked the episode for last year's halloween when ted goes back year after year to find that girl...

so many to pick from...this years xmas decorations one was funny too...man I love em all!!! super bowl....empire statebuilding etcetc

Season 2 has some of the best episodes, but a few of the first season episodes are classics.  The empire state building one was funny.  I especially loved Robin's flashbacks in that one.  Haha!!

This show is so well done, and everybody is so likable...it's addictive!

I loved the show about Robin's Secret....which was she used to be a mall singer, Robin Sparkles . . .

Here is a cool collage of Barney set to the song "I'm Too Sexy" . . .

I've never seen The Class.  But I don't blame you about hating the Christine show.  Never seen that either, but it looks terrible.  I was surprized when it was renewed for Season Two.

does she play the same type of "Elaine" character??

Cause if she does...thats a huge reason NOT to watch.  Seinfeld is over done, spinoffs suck etc etc.

hope class and mother is on next week!!

I don't know what she plays, I've never seen the show.

There's a repeat of Mother this monday.  It's the one where Barney nabs a 'cougar' and Lily takes away Ted's boss' 'Pete Rose baseball'.

I think The Class was canceled.  I think I read it somewhere in EW magazine.  I never saw that one, never interested me.

I checked CBS.com, and it's not a new episode.  Monday's episode is the Swarley episode.

According to the commercials, Boston Globe called it one of the two best TV episodes of the season.

I even have the entire music video on my video iPod.  This episode was sooo funny.

"Who gets trapped up under a fake boulder at a mall?"
"Not me when I was nine in Ohio, that's for sure."

I don't think it will be that big of a cliffhanger.  Last season's was Lily-Marshall breaking up & Robin-Ted are dating.  Maybe this season, it will involve Barney.  Maybe Barney will reveal he's been in a long term relationship.  Or, Marshal and Lily move out of the apartment and Ted is looking for a roommate.  Both could give the writers opportunities to find new non-reaccuring characters for the show.  It'll be good  story arcs.

I swear, both of us should write for the show.

Something Borrowed

By the time their wedding day arrives, nothing seems to be the way Marshall and Lily had envisioned, but surprisingly Barney jumps in to try to save their special day.

Thats what CBS says....so they are doing more of the wedding day I guess.

TV.com says this

With everything going wrong on Lily and Marshall's wedding day, to everyone's surprise it's confirmed bachelor Barney who tries to fix it all.

This episode contains Russ Culley's winning line from TV.com's How I Met Your Mother "Barneyism" contest: "Excuse me miss, you dropped something -- your jaw."

That's alright if we're the only ones talking.  Jeffrey and I were the only ones talking about Big Brother UK, and then more came in and joined the chat.  Some will come soon to chat about this awesome show, I hope.

Hopefully, people will buy the first season on DVD (it's getting cheap now, less than $20 at some stores) and then we can chat about the first season during the summer break.

did u watch it last night??

So lets list what went wrong...

1 ) Small wedding of 25-30 people turned into over 100 people.

2 ) Outdoor wedding...is not inside in account of Marshall's dad being afraid of getting Mugged in NYC

3 ) Acoustic guitar player is now a overly pregnant Harp player who is a week past her due date and can't reach all of her strings....

4 ) Lily's vail got ran over in the parking lot

5) Robyn forgot "Marshalls' Property" Wedding Underwear Lily

6) Lily's cousin dyed Marhsalls tips

7 ) Marshall shaved his head

8) Lily's exboyfriend Scooter / Bill is trying to read November Rain by Axel Rose / GNR to win her back

9 ) The bar manager/bartended is now shirtless trying to kick out Scooter

10 ) Barney is taking advantage of the line "its for the bride" for peanuts, scotch and sodas...phone numbers slutty girls massages etc etc

11 ) Uncle ..... Toopey looks horrible on Marshalls shaved head...

But Barney finally saves the day....All are outside with a Black hat on Marshall (no traditional indian head garb as requested) and lily's run over veil a guitar player (as the harpest went into labour) and they had their small intimate wedding .... and Barney still was able to use the "Excuse me miss, you dropped something -- your jaw." line!!!

Very cute last night.

It wasn't as funny as previously episodes and it was very fast paced for a sit-com.  This wasn't the best episode his season (and certianly not the worst), but it was a good plot-driven episode.

Did you know that the "Excuse me miss, you dropped something - Your Jaw!" was the winning Barneyism written by a fan of the show.  They did a contest online to see who would write the best Barneyism.

I have a problem with the show's continuity.  From the Episode, "Single Stamina" in which we meet Barney's gay black brother, we see that Ted and Robin are still together after Marshall and Lily come back from their honeymoon.  It's at the end, where Marshall comments on how wierd it is to call Lily his wife, and then Ted and Robin are still dancing romantically, a hint that they're still together.

Does this mean that they will, once again, get back together?  If not, are they still really really really good friends?

Also, I've been researching CBS's upcoming announcement for the fall schedule.  Some news sites say that HIMYM will definitely be back for a third season.  A few contradicting sites said that it's on the rocks and may finish off the show mid-season.  One that I heard says it's over with.

Tomorrow is the offical announcement.  I'm fine with it coming back mid-season, at least.  As long as we finally get to the part where we meet the mother of the story, I'll be satisfied.

Yes, the episode was pre-wedding.  But, they had a flash foreward at the end to James's wedding at the end of that episode.

I was glad to see CBS released some good news on its fall line-up.  They couldn't have canceled the show on a cliffhanger like that!

Happy Victoria Day!

I was sad that there is no more HIMYM for a while last night when I sat down to watch Dancing with the Stars.  Not to mention, Heroes was awesome last night.

Glad to hear that this show has been renewed for another season. I just love the Barney character, he is so funny.  I am not sure if I ever want to see how Ted met their mother.  Maybe they can introduce her in the final show when the show will end forever.  I enjoy the cast members they have now and couldn't see them adding anyone else to the show.  The cast has such good chemistry.

I would rather if they introduce the mother character mid-season, with the Gang meeting her first and telling Ted that he has to meet her, but for some reason, he keeps missing the opportunities.

I think they should end the show like LOST is doing.  Plan out when they want the show to end, request CBS to give them a few extra seasons.  That way, they'll tell us when the show will end years in advance, so the fans aren't disappointed with it being cancelled and no answer about who the mother is.

I would like to see the relationship the mother has with everyone else in the group.  That would make for some fresh clean comedy.

Video is taking too long.  Oh well, I've seen this full version before and it rocks!!!

You don't have the DVDs yet?  Maybe you could rent them from Netflix?  I'm sure Rob would agree, hehe.
